The VinFast EC Van breaks into the Top 10 in May.
New vehicle sales in Vietnam soar 19.2% year-on-year in May to 53,359 units, meaning the year-to-date tally is now up 33.2% to 276,013. Local EV powerhouse VinFast (+69.7%) continues to evolve in a league of its own at 36.6% share, albeit below the record 40.9% it hit last month. Toyota (-0.2%) is stable at 10.5% share, followed by Thaco-Kia (+19.6%) and Hyundai (-3.5%). Ford (-13.8%) is in difficulty at #5 whereas Mitsubishi (+43.2%) surges below. Lexus (+105.4%) and Honda (+26%) also make themselves noticed.
Model-wise, VinFast monopolises the Top 5 again and places the new Limo Green at the top for the third straight month and the 6th time in the past 7 months. The VF 3 (+20.8%) and VF 5 (-19.7%) complete a podium identical to April and YTD. The new MPV 7 overtakes the VF 6 (+20.2%) to rank #4 overall. The best of the rest is the Toyota Yaris Cross (+33.3%), with the Mitsubishi Xpander (+12.4%) in tow. The VinFast EC Van ranks #9 for its first Top 10 appearance at home.

Geely breaks into the Indonesian Top 10 in May.
Wholesales in Indonesia are up 14.2% year-on-year in May to 69,219 units, leading to a year-to-date volume up 13.3% to 359,015. Meanwhile retail sales jump 17.2% to 71,890 for the month and are up 9.3% year-to-date to 359,490.
In the wholesales brands ranking, Toyota (+18.3%) beats the market to a splendid 35.9% market share vs. 31% so far this year. Daihatsu (-0.2%) stays at its traditional 2nd place while Suzuki (+55.8%) overtakes Mitsubishi (-12.4%) in the YTD charts. Newcomer Jaecoo breaks into the Top 5 for the first time at #5. Geely (+353.6%) sports the biggest YoY gain in the Top 15 and cracks the Top 10 for the first time at #10. BYD (-68%) endures a rare month off and dives to #14 vs. #5 in April.
As for retail sales, Toyota (+6%) is more measured to 29.7% share, ranking ahead of Daihatsu (+25.3%), Suzuki (+30.8%) and Mitsubishi (+7.3%). Honda (-23.1%) sinks to #5 while Jaecoo is up two spots to #6. BYD (+9.6%) is actually up here at #7 with 4% share.
In the models charts (wholesales), the Toyota Kijang Innova (+28.7%) is head and shoulders above the competition at 9.6% share vs. 6.5% YTD, the nameplateβs highest since last September. The Suzuki New Carry Pikap (+61.6%) is also up one spot on last month to #2, followed by Aprilβs leader the Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap (+8.6%). The Toyota Avanza (+3.8%) stays at #4 ahead of the new Jaecoo J5 up one rank to #5. The Toyota Hilux (+217.6%) and Veloz (+99.5%) also impress below.

The Proton Saga is the best-selling vehicle in Malaysia in May.
Itβs a difficult month for new car sales in Malaysia with May volumes off -10.7% year-on-year to 66,053. The year-to-date tally remains in positive, just, at +0.07% to 335,853. Perodua (-22%) skids down to 37.1% share vs. 38.9% year-to-date and 42.5% a year ago in May 2025. In contrast other local carmaker Proton (+26.6%) jumps to 24.4% share vs. 17.2% last year. The Top 7 brands are unchanged on April and YTD, with Toyota (-13.3%), Honda (-37.8%) and Omoda Jaecoo (+16.3%) rounding out the Top 5 ahead of Mitsubishi (+6.5%) and Mazda (+50.4%). Jetour (+1263.4%) celebrates one year in market with a record 8th place while newcomer iCaur is up to a best ever #13.
Model-wise, the Proton Saga (+37%) lodges its second win of the year after last January with 11.1% share. The Perodua Bezza (-22.7%) is in trouble at #2 but remains in the lead year-to-date. The Perodua Axia (-21.3%), Myvi (-28.9%) and Alza (-34.1%) complete the Top 5, all in a rut. Meanwhile the Proton S70 (+34.2%) aka Geely Emgrand is up to #6 ahead of the Proton e.MAS 7 (+141%) aka Geely EX5 up 9 spots on April to #7. The new Perodua Traz slides down three ranks to #12 with fellow newcomers the Toyota Yaris Cross (#15), Proton e.MAS 5 (#16) and Jetour T2 (#22) in tow.

The Suzuki Fronx lands directly at #8 in Pakistan in May.
According to local manufacturers association PAMA, 17,660 new locally assembled vehicles hit Pakistani roads in May, a vigorous +19.4% year-on-year lift. Year-to-date, sales are up 45.5% to 95,382. Note not all manufacturers present in Pakistan are members of PAMA such as Kia, Changan and MG notably and therefore donβt appear in these statistics. Suzuki (+60.1%) brilliantly maintains itself above 50% share, distancing a struggling Toyota (-27.6%) at 19.8%. Honda (+12.6%) and Haval (+36.5%) follow. Tank is up five spots on its inaugural month to #6 and 2% share while Jetour drops one rank to #8.
Model-wise, the Suzuki Alto (+74.9%) tightens its grip on the charts with 33.8% share, followed this month by the Suzuki Swift (+109.1%) more than doubling its sales year-on-year. The Sazgar Haval H6 (+36.5%) is down to #3 as a result. We have a new model in the charts: the Suzuki Fronx landing directly at #8 with 3.1% share. Notice also the Tank 500 up 11 spots on April to #13.
