103 Passengers Still Waiting for $642,000 in Cruise Refunds From Canceled Charter Sailing

Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown has filed charges against Capital Jazz and its owner, Clifford Hunte, over more than $642,000 in unpaid refunds from a canceled 2026 music cruise.

A large cruise ship is docked near a shoreline with a grassy area and several people standing nearby, all under a clear blue sky. Towering industrial cranes rise in the background, indicating the busy activity at Port Canaveral.

The Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division filed a Statement of Charges alleging Capital Jazz violated the Maryland Consumer Protection Act and breached an earlier settlement agreement tied to previous refund failures.

More than $642,000 owed in cruise refunds

The Capital Jazz SuperCruise was scheduled to sail the Caribbean from March 22-29, 2026 onboard MSC Divina.

MSC Cruises canceled the charter agreement in November 2025 after Capital Jazz failed to meet payment obligations, despite continuing to collect money from customers. By the time passengers learned of the cancellation, many had already paid thousands of dollars and booked flights and hotels.

The Consumer Protection Division says 103 customers are so far confirmed to be owed $642,240 in total. Officials believe more passengers may be affected and have not yet come forward.

A scale of justice on a railing symbolizing justice and security

Capital Jazz also allegedly stopped paying penalties it owed under a 2025 settlement that resolved earlier refund complaints.

“Capital Jazz made a commitment to Maryland consumers and broke it, and then they brazenly did it again,” Attorney General Brown said. “My office intends to use every legal tool available to hold it accountable in its failure to honor its obligations to consumers.”

It’s worth noting that the dispute is between passengers and Capital Jazz, not MSC Cruises. MSC canceled the charter after Capital Jazz failed to make payments, and the cruise line has no legal obligation to refund passengers who booked through the event organizer.

Third SuperCruise canceled in five years

This is the third Capital Jazz SuperCruise to be canceled in five years. The company previously faced legal action over cruises canceled in 2021 and 2022, which resulted in a 2025 settlement requiring Capital Jazz to provide cruise refunds and purchase cancellation insurance for future events.

A hearing before the Maryland Office of Administrative Hearings is scheduled for July 21, 2026.

Capital Jazz has organized its annual music festival in the Washington, D.C. area for more than 30 years, drawing tens of thousands of fans to Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland each June.

Customers who believe they are owed refunds from the canceled 2026 SuperCruise can contact the Maryland Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division at 410-528-8662.

Top Entry-Level Cruise Ship Jobs for Students with No Experience

Working on a cruise ship is one of the few opportunities where you can earn a paycheck while traveling the world.

A chef in a white uniform and toque ladles food at a buffet counter on the Celestyal Journey mid-size ship. The counter features assorted dishes, bowls, and a large pot of yellow soup, embodying why this trip feels perfect amid the blurred restaurant decor.

For college-age applicants or anyone with limited work experience, cruise lines regularly hire for entry-level roles that focus more on attitude and work ethic than a long resume.

Why Cruise Ship Jobs Are a Smart Choice Early in Your Career

Starting out on a cruise ship can be a practical way to earn steady income while gaining real-world experience and traveling at the same time.

For many first-time applicants, it offers a chance to build independence, improve communication skills, and learn how to work in a fast-paced, team-focused environment alongside people from around the world.

The image shows a cruise ship deck with white lounge chairs lined up under a clear blue sky. Starlink high-speed internet ensures guests stay connected, as a row of white lamp posts is positioned along the railing, with the ocean visible in the background.
Starlink is the industry standard for high-speed internet at sea.

At the same time, it’s important to stay mindful of any academic commitments. Balancing coursework with a shipboard work schedule is not always easy, especially during busy stretches when time is limited. It is not uncommon for someone to think, “Can someone do my essay so I can keep up with everything?” during those moments.

Some turn to academic support services like EduBirdie to help manage their workload. These services can assist with writing, editing, and structuring assignments, making it easier to stay on track without falling behind.

When handled carefully, combining cruise ship work with continued academic progress can help create a strong foundation for future opportunities, blending hands-on experience with ongoing education.

Top Entry-Level Cruise Ship Jobs You Can Apply for:

1. Cabin Steward (Housekeeping)

Cabin stewards are responsible for cleaning and maintaining guest cabins. This role requires attention to detail, efficiency, and a friendly demeanor when interacting with guests. No prior housekeeping experience is necessary – training is provided onboard.

Why it’s a good fit: You’ll develop discipline, organization skills, and customer service experience.

2. Dining Room Server Assistant (Busser)

Server assistants help waitstaff by setting tables, delivering dishes, and ensuring a smooth dining experience. It’s a fast-paced role but a great way to learn hospitality basics.

Why it’s a good fit: Ideal for those who want to build communication skills and potentially move up to higher-paying server roles.

3. Galley Utility Worker

Working in the ship’s kitchen (galley), utility staff handle cleaning, dishwashing, and basic food prep tasks. No culinary background is required.

Why it’s a good fit: Perfect for anyone interested in food service or culinary careers without needing prior experience.

4. Retail Sales Associate

Cruise ships have onboard shops selling clothing, souvenirs, and duty-free items. Sales associates assist guests, manage inventory, and operate registers.

Why it’s a good fit: You gain retail and sales experience while working in a relaxed, guest-focused environment.

5. Youth Program Assistant

These roles involve organizing games, activities, and supervision for children onboard. While experience with kids is helpful, enthusiasm and responsibility matter more.

Why it’s a good fit: Great for those considering careers in education, childcare, or recreation.

A modern Norwegian Cruise Line ship deck features a white gazebo, lounge chairs, hot tubs, and mosaic-tiled pools under a mostly clear sky, creating a serene retreat for Caribbean or Bahamas sailings. The area appears empty of people.

6. Pool Attendant

Pool attendants maintain cleanliness around pool areas, distribute towels, and ensure safety rules are followed.

Why it’s a good fit: A more relaxed role with outdoor work and regular guest interaction.

7. Photographer Assistant

Photographers capture guest moments, and assistants help with setup, sales, and organization of photos.

Why it’s a good fit: Ideal if you’re creative or interested in media and customer interaction.

8. Bar Utility (Bar Back)

Bar utilities support bartenders by restocking supplies, cleaning, and preparing the workspace.

Why it’s a good fit: A stepping stone to becoming a bartender, with opportunities to learn mixology basics.

9. Guest Services Assistant (Junior Roles)

Entry-level guest services roles involve helping passengers with basic questions, directions, and requests.

Why it’s a good fit: Builds strong communication and problem-solving skills valuable in any career.

10. Entertainment Support Staff

This includes helping with events, setting up equipment, or assisting performers and cruise directors.

Why it’s a good fit: A fun, dynamic environment suited for outgoing personalities.

Requirements to Work on a Cruise Ship

Even for entry-level positions, cruise lines expect candidates to meet a few basic requirements:

  • Be at least 18–21 years old (depending on the role)
  • Hold a valid passport
  • Pass a medical exam
  • Have basic English communication skills
  • Be willing to work long hours in a structured environment

Most cruise lines also provide safety training, including internationally recognized maritime certifications before or after hiring.

How to Get Hired Without Experience

Landing your first cruise ship job is very possible if you approach it strategically:

1. Highlight transferable skills
Even if you’ve never worked formally, emphasize teamwork, volunteering, group projects, or part-time jobs.

2. Apply through official cruise line websites
Major companies like Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian Cruise Line regularly post entry-level openings.

3. Use recruitment agencies
Authorized hiring partners can guide you through applications and interviews.

4. Be flexible
Being open to different roles increases your chances of getting hired faster.

Tips to Succeed Once You’re Onboard

  • Stay adaptable – schedules can be demanding
  • Maintain a positive attitude with guests and crew
  • Build relationships with coworkers from around the world
  • Save money – living expenses are minimal onboard
  • Take advantage of growth opportunities and promotions

Is It Worth It?

For young adults interested in working and traveling at the same time, cruise ship jobs offer a practical way to do both. The hours can be long and the work demanding, but the experience you gain along the way can be valuable. From building customer service skills to adapting to life in a fast-paced, international environment, it’s the kind of experience that can stand out when you move on to future roles.

Final Thoughts

After college I worked on a cruise ship and can tell you from first hand experience that getting started on a cruise ship without prior experience is very achievable, especially if you are open to learning and willing to take on new challenges, while working seven days a week.

There are entry-level roles across hospitality, guest services, entertainment, and more, making it easier to find a position that fits your interests. Just research these carefully because you don’t want a contract that you hate for months. It will make time drag. Trust me.

With that said, if you are ready to work hard and try something different, a cruise ship job can be a solid first step. It offers a chance to gain experience, earn money, and see parts of the world you might not otherwise visit, all while building a foundation for what comes next.

Did ShinyHunters Hack Carnival Corporation? What Cruise Passengers Need to Know

A notorious organization known for hacking into systems in order to steal vast amounts of information may have gained access to Carnival Corporation’s massive data base.

Who Is Behind the Potential Breach

A laptop displays a screen with green code and a large Guy Fawkes mask, symbolizing hacking or anonymous activity—evoking events like the Carnival Data Breach. The laptop sits on a black surface with a white background.

While ShinyHunters may sound like a musical group you’d hire to entertain at your child’s birthday party, they are, in fact, far more sinister.

The organization has been behind some of the largest data breaches to take place over the past 25 years. Among their past victims have been companies as diverse as Microsoft, Pizza Hut even several universities.

Now, according to numerous reports, ShinyHunters is claiming to have accessed troves of Carnival Corporation information and issued a ransom threat.

What Carnival Is Doing

In a statement, a Carnival Corporation rep told Cruise Radio that “after detecting unauthorized online activity involving a singer user account, we acted quickly to shut it down and block any further unauthorized access and have notified law enforcement.”

The real questions revolve around what “single user account” was accessed and whether it may have opened something of a cyber wormhole which might serve as a gateway to far more information.

“Data privacy and protection are extremely important to Carnival Corporation,” the spokesperson continued, “and we’re working closely with trusted global security experts to be thoughtful and deliberate in our review of the data involved, recognizing that anonymous reports circulating online are not always accurate.”

Aboard the Carnival Radiance, the cruise ship deck at sunset offers a spectacular scene featuring a water slide and numerous lounge chairs. A large screen entertains those seated around tables. The serene waters make this moment magical, as a distant ship dots the horizon—truly an unforgettable journey.

The “anonymous reports” mentioned are likely those which claim that information from several million accounts has already been released.

For example, the site HaveIBeenPwned wrote that ShinyHunters “published the [stolen] data publicly, which contained 8.7 million records with 7.5 million unique email addresses.”

The site went on to make the very specific claim that data released included information pertaining to Holland America Line — a division of Carnival Corporation — and their Mariner Society loyalty program.

It went on to say that the information included “names, dates of birth, genders and data relating to status within the loyalty program.”

What Happens Next

Carnival Corporation & PLC logo with a red flag featuring a blue circle and white outline above the company name in black capital letters on a white background, highlighting awareness following the recent Carnival Data Breach.

Meanwhile, the Carnival spokesperson concluded by saying, “If we determine personal information was affected, we will follow all disclosure requirements and communicate directly with any impacted individuals.”

Meanwhile, HaveIBeenPwned.com recommends that if you believe your information may have been compromised, you should change your password immediately. They also suggest enabling two-factor authentification, which is standard advice when it comes to adding an added layer of protection to any and all accounts.

In 2020, Princess Cruises had a hacker gain access to company emails.

Royal Caribbean Charges Tests $30 to Early Assign Your Stateroom

Royal Caribbean is testing a new paid option for guests who book guarantee staterooms and want to know their cabin assignment before the last minute.

A large MSC World America cruise ship is escorted by two tugboats as it departs from a harbor near a city with high-rise buildings and a beach coastline under a clear sky.

The program, called Early Assign, is available for $30 per stateroom and is currently being piloted on select sailings for U.S. bookings only. When a guest’s cruise is paid in full, they can add Early Assign and receive their stateroom assignment within 24 hours.

How guarantee bookings work

Guarantee staterooms are one of the most affordable ways to book a cruise. Guests are promised a cabin within their selected category, but the cruise line assigns the specific room, sometimes not until just days before the sailing date or even on embarkation day. That uncertainty is the tradeoff for the lower fare.

Early Assign is designed to remove that uncertainty, though it does not allow guests to choose a specific deck, location, or stateroom attributes.

Booking windows and restrictions

Four Icon-Class ships sail side by side on a calm ocean under a clear blue sky. Each Royal Caribbean ship features multiple decks with various structures and decorations, as they move forward leaving trails in the water.

The option is available during a defined window before sailing, based on itinerary length.

For cruises of five nights or fewer, guests can use Early Assign between 30 and 60 days before departure. For sailings of six nights or longer, the window is 50 to 80 days before sailing.

Early Assign is available for select stateroom categories across interior, ocean view, balcony, and suite bookings. It is not available on casino fares and may be restricted on certain promotional rates.

Once assigned, guests can request a move to a different cabin within the same category at no extra charge, of course this is subject to availability.

What to know before paying

The $30 fee is per stateroom, not per guest, but it is non-refundable. If a booking is canceled, the fee is forfeited regardless of when the cancellation occurs. The option carries no additional perks beyond the earlier cabin assignment.

Royal Caribbean says the program may be expanded fleetwide if the pilot proves successful.

Why a Cruise Is One of the Smartest Vacation Choices for College Students

Planning a getaway on a limited budget while juggling academic responsibilities isn’t easy. That’s why cruising has quickly become one of the most attractive vacation options for young adults in college across the U.S.

The NCL Norwegian Sky, adorned with colorful hull artwork, sails on calm blue water near a city skyline at sunset. The sky is partly cloudy with soft sunlight, marking the ship's final season in this stunning setting.

It combines affordability, convenience, entertainment, and adventure into one seamless experience. Whether you’re looking to unwind after finals or celebrate a milestone with friends, here’s why cruising stands out as the ultimate choice.

Once a cruising college student myself, here are some reasons why we choose to cruise every year (even during the semester).

1. All-Inclusive Value Makes Budgeting Easy

One of the biggest advantages of a cruise is its all-inclusive pricing model. Instead of paying separately for accommodations, meals, transportation, and entertainment, you get everything bundled into one price. For those trying to stick to a tight budget, this simplifies financial planning and eliminates unexpected expenses. Many cruise lines even offer special deals and discounts for younger cruisers, making it easier to enjoy a high-quality vacation without overspending.

2. Easy, Low-Stress Travel Planning

When your schedule is already packed with classes, deadlines, and everything else that comes with college life, planning a trip can feel like one more thing on a long to-do list. That’s where cruising makes things a lot simpler.

Instead of juggling hotel bookings, transportation, dining plans, and daily activities, a cruise bundles it all together. Your room, meals, entertainment, and even transportation between destinations are included in one booking. You don’t have to spend hours comparing options or trying to piece together an itinerary—it’s already done for you.

Rows of orange and turquoise lounge chairs on MSC World America’s deck overlook a ropes course, a red and white lighthouse structure, water slides, and a city skyline—perfect for a family cruise under a partly cloudy sky.

That kind of simplicity can be a big relief, especially during busy times of the semester. Rather than stressing over logistics, you can focus on looking forward to the trip and actually enjoying your time away once you’re onboard.

For students trying to balance everything at once, finding ways to reduce pressure matters. Some cruise passengers plan ahead to stay on top of assignments before they leave, while others look for extra support when deadlines stack up.

Some even choose to delegate certain academic tasks to stay balanced, occasionally turning to a college paper writer to help manage their workload more effectively. This doesn’t replace learning, but it can provide support when deadlines overlap or responsibilities become too demanding.

Not to mention almost every cruise ship has Starlink wifi these days.

3. Multiple Destinations in One Trip

Cruises make it easy to visit multiple destinations without dealing with separate flights or hotel bookings. You can wake up in a new place each day, whether that is a Caribbean island or a port along the Mediterranean, without the usual travel-day hassle.

That built-in variety adds a lot to the experience, especially if you are working with limited time. Instead of choosing just one destination, you get a mix of places in a single trip, helping you make the most of a short break.

4. Built-In Social Opportunities

Cruises are naturally social environments. From group excursions to themed parties and shared dining spaces, it’s easy to meet new people and form connections.

Many cruise lines cater specifically to younger crowds, organizing events like pool parties, mixers, and nightlife activities. It’s an ideal setting for making friends or even networking in a relaxed environment.

5. Endless Entertainment Options

You’ll never run out of things to do on a cruise ship. Most vessels feature live shows, music performances, comedy acts, movie nights, and even onboard clubs. During the day, you can enjoy pools, sports courts, fitness centers, and workshops. This variety ensures that every moment of your vacation is engaging, whether you prefer relaxing or staying active.

6. Affordable Luxury Experience

Cruises offer a taste of luxury at a fraction of the cost you’d pay for a similar experience on land. Comfortable cabins, gourmet dining, and premium amenities are all included or available at reasonable prices. For many young travelers, it’s a chance to experience upscale travel without the typical high price tag.

7. Flexible Activities for Every Interest

Not everyone wants the same kind of vacation, and cruises accommodate that. Whether you’re into adventure, relaxation, culture, or fitness, there’s something for you.

You can spend your morning exploring a new destination, your afternoon lounging by the pool, and your evening enjoying live entertainment. This flexibility makes cruising appealing to diverse groups of friends with different interests.

8. Safe and Structured Environment

Safety is a major consideration, especially when traveling in groups or to unfamiliar places. Cruise ships provide a controlled and secure environment with professional staff, clear schedules, and organized excursions. This structure offers peace of mind while still allowing plenty of freedom to explore and have fun.

9. Perfect for Group Travel

Coordinating a group vacation can be complicated, but cruises make it easier. Everyone stays in the same place, participates in shared activities, and can choose how much time to spend together or apart. Many cruise lines offer group packages and perks, making it an excellent option for spring break trips, celebrations, or reunions.

10. Great Balance Between Relaxation and Adventure

Perhaps the biggest reason cruising stands out is its ability to combine relaxation and adventure. You can unwind on deck with ocean views, enjoy spa treatments, or take part in exciting excursions like snorkeling, hiking, or city tours. This balance ensures that you return from your trip feeling both refreshed and fulfilled.

Final Thoughts

Cruising brings together value, convenience, and a wide range of experiences in a way that’s tough to replicate with other types of trips.

If you’re balancing classes, work, and a social life, it’s an easy way to step away for a few days without taking on the extra stress of planning every detail. With so much included and plenty to do onboard and ashore, it lets you focus on enjoying the experience rather than managing it.

It’s also easy to see why more college-age travelers are choosing cruises. The mix of built-in entertainment, social atmosphere, and multiple destinations in one trip makes it a practical and appealing option.

If you’re looking for a getaway that feels simple to plan but still delivers a lot for your time and budget, a cruise is definitely worth considering.

Carnival Cruise Line ‘Replaces’ Iconic Whale Tail on New Ship For Big Announcement

Another Carnival Cruise Line ship is heading to the Lone Star State.

In announcing that a brand new ship would be joining Carnival Jubilee in sailing out of Galveston, the line found a rather unique way to make their point: By “replacing” the new build’s instantly recognizable whale tail funnel with a pair of Texas longhorns!

A large Carnival Cruise Line ship named Carnival Tropicale, featuring the iconic Whale Tail funnel, sails on calm blue water under a partly cloudy sky, with multiple decks, lifeboats, and recreational areas visible.

Why Carnival Picked Galveston

Once the brand new Carnival Tropicale is delivered in the spring of 2028, the line’s flagship vessel will call Galveston home. In explaining why they opted to place the ship in that particular port, Carnival’s president Christine Duffy said that doing so was “a celebration of both our history and our future in Texas.”

She added that for over 25 years, “Texas has been at the heart of Carnival’s growth, and this new Excel-class ship ensures we continue to deliver unforgettable experiences for our guests in and around the state.”

Is Carnival’s Whale Tail Really Gone?

Named after the first ship, which was designed specifically for Carnival, the Tropicale will be a sister ship to Jubilee, but not a twin.

Duffy explained that on the newest Excel-class ship, they’d be replacing the Bold roller coaster with Sunsation, a three-deck waterpark and entertainment zone that will also host special after-dark events.

And like Jubilee, the ship’s bow will proudly feature the Star of Texas.

But about that whale tail?

While the idea of replacing it with a pair of longhorns is fun and makes for a great gimmick, it’s actually only being done for advertising purposes. (You can view the full video — complete with line dancing and an original tune — below.)

A full year before Tropicale joins the fleet, Carnival Festivale will be rolled out. Like Tropicale, the Excel-class vessel will replace Bolt with the Sunsation concept.

The Festivale will not, however, join her sisters in Galveston. Rather, when that ship is introduced in April of 2027, she will make Port Canaveral her homeport.

Details regarding itineraries and booking availability for the Tropicale are set to be released later this year.

Cruise Line Responds After Two-Year-Old Falls on Ship

A small child is receiving medical treatment in Madeira after a fall on a cruise ship. According to media reports, the two-year-old child fell around 10-13 feet as a TUI Cruises ship was docking on the Portuguese island in the Atlantic on Wednesday.

Two Year-Old Child Rushed to Hospital in Madeira

A large blue and white cruise ship sails through calm water with a wake behind it, surrounded by green land and hills under a partly cloudy sky, evoking memories of stories like the cruise ship fall involving a small child.

A ‘rapid intervention’ medical team was sent to the Mein Schiff 7 ship to assist. The child was then taken to the Dr Nelio Mendonca Hospital in Madeira’s capital, Funchal.

The only details shared so far is that the two-year-old in a “foreign national.” The circumstances that led to the fall and the child’s current condition have not been disclosed. An internal investigation is reportedly underway.

The Germany based cruise line seems to have dispelled initial reports of the severity of the child’s injuries. It had been reported the toddler was “fighting for life,” citing unnamed hospital sources who described the toddler’s injuries as “very serious.”

False Reporting on Two-Year Old Falls on Ship

“We can confirm an incident on Mein Schiff 7 in Madeira involving a child. However, the child was never in a critical condition, nor have life-threatening injuries. The child is in hospital for routine observation, and is in good condition and with family members,” TUI Cruises said.

Madeira port authority APRAM also acknowledged the fall, which happened within the ship while in port. Initial news reports the child may have fallen from a balcony have not been confirmed.

“The Regional Integrated Medical Emergency System was activated, with support and assessment carried out on site by the Rapid Intervention Medical Team,” it said.

The Mein Schiff 7, one of the line’s newer ships, docked early morning on April 22 during the week-long Canary Islands and Madeira roundtrip cruise from Grand Canaria. It departs later today and then calls at Santa Cruz de La Palma, Tenerife and Fuerteventura before returning to Gran Canaria on April 27.

The ship is carrying nearly 3,000 guests and more than 1,000 crew members. As of early 2026, TUI Cruises has eight ships and one under construction.

Carnival Names Galveston Home for New Ship Tropicale, Arriving 2028

Carnival Cruise Line’s fifth Excel-class ship, the Carnival Tropicale, will homeport in Galveston after its delivery in 2028. It will join the Carnival Jubilee – which started service in Galveston in 2024 – making Galveston home to two of the three newest ships in the cruise line’s fleet. In a press release, Carnival said the...

Cruise Ship Security Officer Arrested for War Crimes Allegations

A cruise ship security officer has been arrested in Italy on suspicion of war crimes linked to the Balkan conflicts decades ago.

Milan Babic, 58, was taken into custody when his MSC Cruises ship docked at the Port of Civitavecchia (Rome) after arriving from Genoa. He holds dual Serbian-Croatian citizenship.

Ship Security Officer Facing Extradition to Croatia

He was apprehended on an international arrest warrant issued by Croatia earlier this year. Authorities allege he was involved in ethnic cleansing operations during the 1990s in the former Yugoslavia. Babic is also wanted by Serbia in connection with the alleged murder of a Serbian national.

He is currently in custody awaiting an extradition hearing. An Italian court is expected to decide whether he will be sent to Croatia to face possible trial.

Italian news outlet Corriere della Sera reported that Babic had been employed by MSC Cruises for years, allegedly using a false identity.

A fenced parking lot with many cars is seen under a clear blue sky. Yellow and black striped barriers line the foreground, while buildings and a cruise ship security officer oversee the docked ship in the background.

According to officials, Babic was disembarking with other crew members in Civitavecchia when he became suspicious of what he believed were undercover officers. He returned to the ship and hid in a space near the engine room.

Search Lasted Hours Before Arrest

Border police spent more than three hours searching the vessel before locating and arresting him, officials said.

Prosecutors allege Babic was able to work for years by slightly altering his name on official documents. Italian authorities worked with the cruise line and immigration officials to confirm his identity.

Authorities say Babic was a member of a paramilitary unit operating in the Krajina region during the Serbo-Croatian War. The arrest warrant accuses him of “violent acts, deportations, and killings.”

Cruise Ship Finds 5 Bodies at Sea in Mediterranean

What began as a two week sailing turned into a search at sea, after a cruise ship recovered five bodies in the Mediterranean.

Sapphire Princess, operated by Princess Cruises, altered its route on April 21 while sailing from Sardinia to Cartagena, Spain, after a crew member spotted an orange life jacket in the water.

The ship immediately turned around and launched a search operation, deploying a fast rescue boat to investigate. Crew members recovered five deceased individuals from the sea.

A guest onboard told Cruise Radio, “Not long after leaving Sardinia the Captain announced that he was turning the ship around as something orange was floating in the Sea, it was a deceased body in a life jacket. Not long after there was another announcement Man Overboard, we were then informed not long after another 4 deceased persons were located.”

In a statement to Cruise Radio, the company said:

Princess Cruises confirms that on April 21, Sapphire Princess, while at sea en route to Cartagena, Spain, observed an orange inflatable lifejacket in the water. The vessel immediately altered course to investigate and, upon arrival on scene, deployed its Fast Rescue Boat.

Five deceased individuals were recovered by the Sapphire Princess crew members and coordinated efforts with the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC). The individuals involved are not guests or crew of Sapphire Princess.

We extend our sincere condolences for this loss and are grateful to our crew for their swift response and efforts to render assistance.”

Recovering bodies at sea

A diagram shows several arrowed lines in green, yellow, and red forming loops and intersecting paths on a white background, indicating the flow or direction of cruise ship movement across the Mediterranean.

Passengers onboard say the ship remained in the area for several hours, initially locating one body before discovering four more nearby.

Marine tracking data shows the vessel executed a full turn and spent nearly three hours conducting a search pattern before resuming its voyage.

Authorities have not released the identities of the individuals and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials have not confirmed whether the case may be linked to a migrant vessel.

After completing the search, the ship increased speed and arrived in Cartagena on schedule.

The Perfect Night On A Cruise in 2026

There’s something magical about a cruise, but if you’ve been on one before, it’s fair to say you wouldn’t quite know what to expect.

There are plenty of cliches and stereotypes around a cruise, but they really are lazy, and there’s so much to see and do to make every night fantastic.

A large Royal Caribbean cruise ship named "Icon of the Seas" sails on calm blue ocean water under a clear sky, with colorful water slides, expanded dining options, and outdoor decks visible on the upper levels.

While cruising, the daytime will be calm, with the opportunity to sit by the pool or explore a city, while at night the decks come alive, transforming into a hive of activity. So, what happens when you head back to your cabin to dress for the evening?

We take a look at the perfect night on a cruise, filled with indulgence, entertainment and adventure.

Dinner with a View

A modern dining area aboard the Celebrity Summit features empty tables and chairs in soft blue tones. Large windows offer a stunning view of the cityscape and harbor. The tables are set with menus and condiment holders, while a carpeted floor with a geometric pattern adds to the stylish ambiance.

Any perfect experience needs to start with dinner. Whether you want a formal dining experience or something more relaxed, the views and level of service will make it feel like an event.

Opting for a fine dining experience will give you stunning views out to sea, combined with crisp table linens, attentive service and some exquisite menus that are cooked by some of the world’s top chefs. Imagine enjoying a delicate seafood dish while gazing out at the endless expanse of moonlit sea. Perfect? We thought so…

Entertainment That Rivals the West End

ovation of the seas entertainment

Dinner’s complete, the wine has relaxed you, and the conversation is flowing. It’s now time for the entertainment, and across many cruise lines, it’s exceptional.

Theatre shows, musical performances, and even acrobatics that rival the Blue Man Group are all frequently on stage, think Vegas but at sea.

You’ll find something to suit all tastes, and there is always a choice, always something happening, so you can tailor your evening to suit the mood you’re in.

A Visit to the Casino

As we get deeper into the night, it could be time to have a little flutter. Whether it’s enjoying the hustle and bustle of the in-house physical casino or kicking back in your cabin, enjoying the LoneStar online entertainment platform, no trip on a cruise is complete without at least a few hours at the casino. After all, you could win the money for an upgrade to your room or a premium steak dinner.

A ship’s casino is often one of the ship’s most exciting venues, with its bright lights and rhythmic chiming of the slots.

There’s a real buzz, just like you’d get on the Vegas Strip, and it’s a great opportunity to add a bit of glamour to your evening, whether you’re taking a seat at the blackjack table, spinning the roulette wheel, or just enjoying a drink and watching the whole spectacle unfold.

Cocktails Under the Stars

Two plastic cups filled with iced margaritas, each boasting a salted rim and a lime wedge garnish. Plastic straws stand ready in the drinks, reminiscent of MSC Cruise Drink Packages delights, all set on a countertop.

After the excitement of the casino, stepping out onto the open deck offers a refreshing change of pace. The night air is cool and invigorating, and the sky, free from city lights, reveals a blanket of stars.

Many ships feature outdoor bars or lounges where you can sip expertly crafted cocktails while listening to soft music. It is the perfect moment to pause and reflect, to take in the ocean’s vastness and the serenity it brings.

For couples, this can be the most romantic part of the evening. For friends, it is a chance to unwind and share stories of the night’s adventures. The gentle sway of the ship adds to the sense of tranquillity, making it easy to lose track of time.

Late-Night Indulgence

A worker in a white uniform and cap stands behind a glass counter displaying four large pizzas, one with several slices missing. The spotless counter and kitchen set the scene for dining on the Star Princess during its inaugural cruise.

Just when you think the night’s about to end, the cruise pulls it out of the back with a bit of late-night indulgence. You’ll no doubt have worked up a bit of an appetite again, and the late-night buffets and 24-hour eateries on board mean that you won’t go to bed hungry.

Finish the evening with a slice of pizza or, better still, a decadent dessert. There’s always something there to tempt you, especially if you’re on board with the Princess fleet, who are well known for their mouth-watering menus.

A Perfect Ending at Sea

Eventually, the evening draws to a close, and you return to your cabin.

Perhaps you step out onto your private balcony one last time, listening to the gentle rhythm of the waves and seeing the extraordinary star patterns.  There is a deep sense of contentment that comes from a night well spent, a blend of excitement, relaxation, and simple pleasures.

Titanic Survivor’s Life Jacket Sells for $906,000, Blowing Past Auction Estimates

A life jacket worn by a first-class passenger who survived the Titanic sold for $906,000 at auction on Saturday, nearly doubling its high-end pre-sale estimate and drawing global attention on the 114th anniversary of the disaster.

The item belonged to Laura Mabel Francatelli, a 22-year-old secretary traveling aboard the doomed ocean liner in April 1912.

It sold at Henry Aldridge & Son auctioneers in Devizes, England, to an unidentified telephone bidder. Pre-sale estimates had placed the value between $339,000 and $475,000.

Who was Laura Mabel Francatelli?

A black and white illustration shows the Titanic sinking bow-first into the ocean, with people—some wearing life jackets—struggling in lifeboats and in the water, surrounded by icebergs and rough seas.

Francatelli was employed as a personal secretary to Lucy Duff Gordon, one of the most prominent fashion designers of the early 20th century, with salons in London, Paris, and New York. She was traveling with Duff Gordon and her husband, Sir Cosmo Duff Gordon, in first class as the group made their way to Chicago.

When the Titanic struck an iceberg at 11:40 p.m. on April 14, 1912, the three stayed together during the chaotic evacuation rather than separating.

Lady Duff Gordon had declined to board two earlier lifeboats that would have separated her from her husband. The group ultimately secured spots on Lifeboat No. 1, which was lowered at approximately 1:05 a.m. with only 12 people aboard, despite the lifeboat’s capacity of 40.

The lifeboat that sparked controversy

The graveyard where many of the Titanic passengers were buried in 1912.

Lifeboat No. 1 launched carrying fewer people than any other boat that night. Most of its occupants were men, despite Captain Smith’s call for women and children first.

After the Titanic sank, crewman Charles Hendrickson proposed returning to rescue survivors in the water, but the boat did not go back. The episode drew significant scrutiny at subsequent inquiries, and press reports began calling it the “Money Boat” after questions arose about payments Sir Cosmo made to crew members aboard.

The British Board of Trade inquiry ultimately concluded that the bribery charge against Sir Cosmo was unfounded, though his reputation never fully recovered.

Francatelli, along with seven other survivors from the lifeboat, later signed the life jacket — a detail that adds to its historical significance.

A rare piece of maritime history

A large, rusted metal section from the Titanic’s hull stands upright on display, with a sign next to it describing its history and significance, salvaged from the Titanic wreck site and illuminated by blue exhibit lighting.

The cream-colored vest is the only life jacket from a Titanic survivor ever to go under the hammer, according to Henry Aldridge & Son.

The garment features 12 cork-filled canvas pockets with shoulder rests and side straps, and bears the maker’s mark of Fosbery & Co. of Limehouse, London. Before the sale, it had been on display at the Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and at Titanic Belfast in Northern Ireland.

The life jacket remained in Francatelli’s family after her death in 1967, before a private collector acquired it roughly 20 years ago. According to the auctioneers, the current seller decided it was time to pass the item on to another collector.

A Titanic lifeboat seat cushion also sold at the same auction for approximately $527,000. Its buyers were the owners of the Titanic museums in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and Branson, Missouri.

The $906,000 sale price, while record-breaking for a Titanic life jacket, does not top the all-time high for Titanic memorabilia.

That record was set in 2024 when a gold pocket watch presented to the captain of the RMS Carpathia sold for roughly $2 million.

The Carpathia was the ship that arrived hours after the Titanic sank and rescued approximately 700 survivors from the North Atlantic.

Fiji Cruise Ship That Ran Aground Near ‘Cast Away’ Island Will Not Return to Service

Blue Lagoon Cruises has confirmed that MV Fiji Princess will not return to service following an incident in early April that left the ship significantly damaged.

What happened to Fiji Princess

Large white and blue Blue Lagoon Cruises ship anchored in clear blue water, with small islands and boats visible in the distance under a partly cloudy sky.

On April 4, the 182-foot vessel ran aground on a reef near Monuriki Island, located approximately 30 miles from Nadi. The island is widely recognized as the filming location for the Tom Hanks film Cast Away. The reality television series Survivor is also filmed in the area.

Authorities said a sudden squall caused the ship’s anchor to drag, forcing the vessel onto the reef. The ship sustained significant damage and began taking on water, though no injuries were reported among those on board.

A ferry came alongside to evacuate the 30 guests, who later disembarked at Denarau Island. The ship was in the middle of a seven-day voyage at the time of the incident.

An Australian salvage team assisted with the recovery operation. More than 20,000 liters of fuel were removed from the vessel to prevent potential marine pollution to the reef system. Authorities reported no signs of fuel tank leakage.

What happens next for passengers

“With much sadness and following initial recovery efforts, we have made the difficult decision to retire MV Fiji Princess following an incident on April 4,” Blue Lagoon Cruises said in a social media statement.

The cruise line has processed refunds for April bookings. Sailings will continue aboard MV Yasawa Princess II, which is scheduled to enter service later this month. The ship features 22 guest cabins.

The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji is leading an ongoing investigation into the incident. No timeline has been given for the release of a final report. MV Fiji Princess had been sailing in the Pacific for more than 20 years at the time of the incident.

Exclusive: Banned Cruisers Speak Out, Own Up — ‘We Had No Agenda’

A couple whose video about their experiences aboard the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise went viral found out that they’ve been permanent banned by the line. The unusual twist? Their original video was posted back in 2023!

‘We Showed Exactly What We Saw’

While Laura and Johnathan Fain’s video chronicling their time on the Margaritaville at Sea ship got a decent amount of attention when posted back in 2023, he is quick to make clear it “wasn’t something where we were thinking, ‘Oh, maybe if we complain we’ll get a refund.’”

A man in a blue shirt and sunglasses with a blond-tipped hairstyle stands next to a woman in a white top by a bright outdoor pool, smiling as they prepare for an exclusive interview. Sun umbrellas and blue sky set the cheerful scene.

Rather, says Johnathan, who goes by Fain, “It was literally just posting our experience. We showed exactly what we saw.”

Adds Laura during a call with Cruise Radio, “It’s not like we made a mess and then filmed it! The response to the initial vlog wasn’t really controversial. But then I put out the TikTok,” which was by nature shorter and focused more heavily on the negative aspects of their trip.

“That’s what really blew up and is probably what offended them,” she says. “And I get it, to be honest with you. But I never thought it would lead to this!”

‘Maybe We Were Banned!’

Flashforward to the spring of 2026, when the pair decided it was time to give Margaritaville at Sea another shot. “We’d heard good things and were looking to do a cruise that would fit in our budget,” explains Fain. Yet when they attempted to book online, the system instructed them to contact customer service.

“I joked that maybe we were banned,” laughs Laura. What she didn’t realize was just how right she was: When Fain called, a customer service rep confirmed they were banned from the line and even revealed that a “bad review” was the reason.

“It says you are not allowed to board a cruise,” acknowledged the Margaritaville rep.

“I was shocked that they just said it, flat-out,” Fain admits.

Radio Silence

Despite making a video about the ban which accumulated nearly 125,000 views in its first week, the couple has not heard from the cruise line. (You can see their video in its entirety below.) “I’m not expecting to hear from them,” shrugs Fain.

Many in the comment section have assumed that the company might reach out in order to make amends. Laura, however, is quick to say, “We didn’t do this to get a free cruise or bash them again. We had no agenda.”

Despite what has gone down, the pair would like to give the line — which has undergone massive changes since their original posting — another shot… with, however, one stipulation. “I wouldn’t want it for free,” she says emphatically. “Nobody’s going to take away my credibility in that way. I can already imagine the comments people would make if we accepted a free cruise and had a positive experience.”

Adds Fain “And if we weren’t paying for it, we would disclose that. It’s important that we remain true to ourselves.”

Cruise Radio reached out to Margaritaville for comment, but received no response.

What makes a vacation feel exclusive?

Not all vacations are created equally.

Aerial view of a tropical beach with turquoise water, white sand, and green hills. A few people relax on the beach as sailboats from a world cruise glide by distant islands under a partly cloudy sky.

While many trips offer relaxation and adventure, only a select few deliver that unmistakable feeling of exclusivity. But what actually defines an “exclusive” vacation? Is it luxury, privacy, or something deeper? As travel trends evolve, exclusivity is no longer just about price tags, it’s about personalized experiences, freedom, and meaningful moments. In this article, we explore what truly makes a vacation feel exclusive.

The power of privacy and personal space

Interior view of a boat’s cabin featuring a kitchen area with a stove and sink, a seating area with a table and cushions, and windows offering a scenic view outside. Discover the convenience for those looking to rent a boat at an affordable price.

One of the defining features of an exclusive vacation is privacy. Travelers are increasingly seeking ways to escape crowds, long lines, and busy tourist hotspots. Luxury travel is often associated with convenience and the ability to bypass common travel frustrations, creating a smoother, more enjoyable experience.

This is where experiences such as private villas or all inclusive yacht charters stand out. Instead of sharing spaces with hundreds of other guests, travelers can enjoy a setting tailored entirely to them.

On a yacht, for example, the environment is intimate, with only your chosen companions and a dedicated crew onboard, creating a level of exclusivity that traditional cruises or resorts rarely match.

Personalization is the new luxury standard

Modern luxury is no longer defined by gold-plated amenities or extravagant décor. Instead, personalization has become the key driver of exclusivity. Travelers want experiences that reflect their identity, preferences, and lifestyle.

Research shows that many travelers view their trips as a form of self-expression, seeking unique experiences that feel tailored to them.

This shift explains the growing popularity of curated travel experiences. Whether it’s a custom itinerary, private excursions, or a chef preparing meals based on personal preferences, exclusivity lies in how well a vacation adapts to the individual.

All-inclusive yacht charters take this concept even further. Every aspect of the journey, from destinations to daily activities, can be adjusted in real time, offering a level of flexibility that few other travel options can provide.

Access to unique and remote destinations

Clear turquoise ocean water in the foreground with a white sandy beach and low green vegetation on a narrow strip of land in the background under a partly cloudy blue sky, where a cruise guest was left behind on the island.

Another key factor that elevates a vacation is access. Exclusive travel often means going where others cannot. This might include hidden beaches, private islands, or remote coastal towns that are inaccessible to large crowds.

acht-based travel excels in this area. Unlike traditional cruises, which follow fixed routes and dock in busy ports, yachts can reach secluded coves and lesser-known destinations. This creates a sense of discovery and adventure that enhances the overall experience.

Travelers today are also prioritizing meaningful and unique experiences over material luxury. According to travel insights, there is a growing demand for trips that offer authenticity and memorable moments rather than just high-end accommodation.

Seamless experiences and effortless comfort

A close-up view of a yacht deck featuring a solar panel, windows, railings, and ropes highlights sustainable cruise travel, with parts of other boats visible in the background at the marina.

Exclusivity is also about how easy a vacation feels. When every detail is taken care of, travelers can fully relax without worrying about logistics. This is one of the reasons all-inclusive travel has surged in popularity.

With all-inclusive yacht charters, everything from accommodation and meals to activities and crew service is included in one package. Guests can enjoy gourmet dining, premium drinks, and curated experiences without constantly reaching for their wallet or planning the next step.

This seamless approach eliminates stress and allows travelers to focus on what truly matters: enjoying the journey.

The emotional side of exclusivity

Aerial view of Royal Beach Club Santorini, opening Summer 2026, with rows of blue lounge chairs and umbrellas, palm trees, multiple buildings, a long wooden dock, two yachts moored for cruise guests, and kayaks near rocky cliffs.

Beyond tangible elements, exclusivity is deeply psychological. Luxury travel often fulfills a desire for uniqueness, status, and personal growth. Experiences that feel rare or “once-in-a-lifetime” tend to leave a stronger emotional impact.

Time spent on a yacht, for instance, changes how people perceive space and time. The open sea, combined with a personalized environment, creates a sense of freedom and escape that is difficult to replicate on land. This emotional connection is what transforms a good vacation into an unforgettable one.

All in all, an exclusive vacation is not just about luxury, it is about how a trip makes you feel. Privacy, personalization, unique access, and seamless comfort all contribute to that elevated experience.

As travelers continue to seek deeper and more meaningful journeys, traditional definitions of luxury are evolving.

Experiences like all-inclusive yacht charters perfectly capture this shift, offering not just comfort, but freedom, individuality, and unforgettable moments. In the end, what makes a vacation truly exclusive is not just where you go, but how uniquely it is yours.

Woman Dies Snorkeling, Hours Later Man Goes Overboard on Carnival Cruise Ship

An air and sea search has been called off for a missing guest who went overboard during a cruise from Australia, likely confirming a second death onboard within hours.

A large Carnival cruise ship sails on a calm ocean under a clear blue sky. The vessel features multiple decks, a distinctive red and blue funnel, and various water slides and amenities visible on the top deck, showcasing its vibrant Australian offerings.

A man is believed to have climbed the railings and jumped from Carnival Splendor, according to reviewed CCTV footage.

The man’s family had earlier reported him missing. The incident came just a few hours after a woman died while snorkeling at Moreton Island, off the Queensland coast, during a port call.

Neither of the two guests has been officially named, and the incidents are not related, the cruise line said.

Search and Rescue Operation Found No Trace of Missing Guest

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) conducted a search and rescue operation lasting approximately 16 hours but called it off in the early evening without success. The man is now presumed dead.

“Following an intensive air and sea search involving multiple assets, the missing person was not located and AMSA has now released all assets from tasking,” a Maritime Safety Authority spokesperson said.

The cruise line also issued a response, “All appropriate authorities have been alerted and Carnival will assist in their investigation upon the ship’s return to Sydney. Carnival’s Care Team is supporting the guest’s family and our thoughts and prayers are with them.”

Carnival Cruise Line stated it believes the act was deliberate. The guest “climbed over the safety railing and jumped overboard. A review of the CCTV footage confirmed the guest’s action.”

Hours Earlier, a Guest Died While Snorkeling

The man overboard alert sounded just before 2 a.m. on April 18. The approximately 3,000-guest Carnival Splendor returned to Sydney on Sunday, where it is homeported year-round.

Just a few hours before the overboard incident, a 67-year-old female guest from Tasmania experienced difficulty while snorkeling at Moreton Island. She was pulled from the water but did not respond to resuscitation efforts.

Five Cruise Ships Escape Strait of Hormuz After Weeks Stranded

After weeks stuck in limbo in the Arabian Gulf, a flotilla of five cruise ships has passed through the Strait of Hormuz en route to their long-delayed European cruising seasons.

Celestyal Discovery First Ship Through Strait of Hormuz

The Celestyal Discovery, with its blue and white hull and multiple decks, has returned to service. Featuring premium accommodations, the top deck boasts lifeboats and a pool area. Industrial buildings dot the background, all reflected in the calm waters of the port.

Celestyal Cruises’ Celestyal Discovery was the first to sail through on Friday. Sister ship Celestyal Journey also made it through the strait safely. MSC Cruises confirmed MSC Euribia is safely out, as did TUI Cruises’ ships, Mein Schiff 4 and Mein Schiff 5.

TUI Cruises paid tribute to its crew and “all those who supported and enabled the safe passage with great professionalism and prudence.” The company added that the focus is now on the ships’ onward journey toward the Mediterranean.

The Saudi Arabia-based Aroya Manara, previously the only major cruise ship still in the Gulf, has now departed Dammam and is heading toward the Strait of Hormuz, though its transit remains uncertain given current conditions.

Although the five European-owned ships made it through the conflict zone, it wasn’t exactly smooth sailing. They transited during a narrow window before Iran reimposed restrictions on the strait hours later, citing tensions tied to the U.S. military presence in the region. Iranian officials said “strict controls” had been restored.

One Cruise Ship Reported a Possible Incident

The image shows the deck of a cruise ship with clear glass railings, sailing near a rocky coastline under a blue sky. The calm sea and shoreline stretch across the background, reminiscent of cruises navigating near the Strait of Hormuz.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that a cruise ship may have been involved in an incident off the coast of Oman. A ship captain reported a “splash in close proximity” caused by an unknown projectile. Authorities have not identified which cruise ship was involved.

Separately, two India-flagged cargo ships, including a tanker, were reportedly fired upon after not receiving authorization from Iran to transit the strait.

MSC Cruises said MSC Euribia will begin its Northern Europe season in mid-May.

“MSC Euribia has departed Dubai, safely transited the Strait of Hormuz, and is now en route to Northern Europe. The passage was completed in close coordination with the relevant authorities,” the cruise line said.

“The ship will now be able to return sooner than previously anticipated. Departures on May 16 from Kiel and May 17 from Copenhagen will operate as originally scheduled.” Guests with canceled cruises will have the option to transfer their bookings.

Celestyal Discovery is now bound for the Suez Canal (South Anchorage), with an estimated arrival on April 24, as it continues its repositioning voyage toward Europe.

Over-Served Passenger Speaks Out About Carnival Lawsuit — ‘I Felt Bullied’

The woman who was served 15 shots of tequila aboard the Carnival Radiance — and suffered injuries as a result — is speaking out about the lawsuit which netted her a $300,000 victory. Meanwhile, reaction to her win has largely involved people debating personal responsibility.

‘They Treated Me Like a Criminal’

In a video shot by her attorney, Diana Sanders says that the crew “treated me like a criminal” as she attempted to obtain information about what had taken place. After waking up at the bottom of a staircase in a crew area, Sanders says she received “conflicting information” about what had transpired.

“I was very concerned that they wouldn’t tell me exactly what had happened,” she continued. She turned to a lawyer in an attempt to get the CCTV footage, but claims that Carnival had “all the tapes right before, but nothing afterward and they will not show us what happened that day.”

As for the process of taking Carnival Corporation to court, “I felt bullied,” she shares. “Everything they did was to either mentally torment me or financially torment me.”

The jury, however, “saw what they were trying to do, how they were trying to defame my character” and, she says, “make me look like a bad human being.”

Sanders attorney, Spencer Aronfeld, briefly touched upon personal responsibility… a topic which many across social media thinks should have played a much bigger role in this particular case.

‘Shouldn’t A Nurse Know Better?’

In handing down their verdict, the jury determined that Carnival was 60 percent responsible for the incident, with Sanders 40 percent responsible. But for many responding to coverage of the story — including our own initial article — that seemed unreasonable.

“Wait,” responded a Facebook commenter, “she’s a nurse? Shouldn’t a nurse know better than to drink that heavily?”

“Accountability must begin with the drinker,” posted another. “No one forced [her] to drink.”

Others speculated as to what effect this might have on future policies related to drinks served on board. “Now they’ll change the rules, dial back the number of drinks you can consume and how often.”

Carnival has indicated that it intends to appeal the decision.
