Apple Set to Become Third-Biggest Laptop Maker This Year

Apple is reportedly set to become the third-largest laptop vendor by the end of 2026, according to market research firm Sigmaintell. Their projections indicate that Apple-made laptops will surpass the industry staple Dell, securing the third spot. This is a remarkable achievement for Apple, which will capture significant unit sales with its newly released, affordable MacBook Neo. According to the market research, the largest vendor by unit sales in 2026 is expected to be Lenovo with 43 million units, followed by HP with 39 million units. Apple is anticipated to sell 28 million MacBooks that year, an impressive number considering the firm sold about 23 million MacBooks in 2025.

The latest MacBook Neo is projected to sell around 10 million units, while the remaining 18 million units are expected to come from the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 14/16 variants. With its current product portfolio, Apple covers a wide range of market segments, from the entry-level $599 MacBook Neo (or $499 with a student discount) to mid-range offerings like the thin and light MacBook Air, and high-end options for professionals with the MacBook Pro lineup. By catering to every segment from entry-level to high-end, Apple enhances its market visibility and provides users with options to fit their budgets.

Steam Controller to Arrive with $99 Price Tag

Valve's upcoming Steam Controller is one of the most anticipated hardware releases the company plans to unveil soon. In a leaked video review that has since been taken down, we learned that Valve has reportedly priced this product at $99. This price point may leave enthusiasts weighing the potential higher cost against its features. While it is on the pricier side for a wireless controller, Valve positions the Steam Controller as having an ergonomic, programmable, and immersive design. What makes it special are its features, including four programmable buttons, dual touchpads, a hall effect sensor, HD rumble for haptic feedback, decent battery life, and connectivity options that include Bluetooth and a separate 2.4 GHz dongle. All of this may justify the asking price, but given the recent influx of high-quality third-party controllers, we should wait for official reviews before drawing any conclusions.

Just a few days ago, Valve quietly uploaded a Steam Controller unboxing video on its Steam platform. However, the video has not been made available for viewing, as attempting to play it results in a "This video has not been processed for streaming" message. This indicates that the launch of the controller is imminent, but since a review was released early, we are likely just a week or two away from the official unveiling. Below is a screenshot from the leaked video review, which has now been taken down.

ASUS Zenbook Duo 2026 Launches at $2,499.99 With Intel Panther Lake and Dual 14" 144 Hz OLED Displays

Back in January, we checked out the ASUS Zenbook Duo at the ASUS booth at CES 2026, where ASUS confirmed that the new dual-screen productivity laptop would feature Intel's Panther Lake CPUs, a new Ceraluminum coating, and redesigned hinges that bring the device's top and bottom displays closer together. Now, following the launch of the ASUS Zephyrus Duo, ASUS has officially launched the Zenbook Duo 2026 with two distinct models available for purchase at the time of writing. The biggest difference between the Zenbook Duo US8407AA-DS99T and the UX8407AA-PSXT is that the former uses the less powerful Intel Core Ultra 9 386H CPU, while the latter comes with the Core Ultra X9 388H. The two CPUs share similar CPU performance, but the 388H gains a significant lead when it comes to iGPU performance, thanks to the inclusion of the Intel Arc B390 iGPU compared to the more standard Xe3 graphics in the 386H.

Editors note: our in depth review is now available.

Both models share the same dual touch-enabled, 14-inch, 2880ร—1800p, 16:10, 144 Hz OLED displays with 1,000 nits HDR brightness and 500 nits of SDR brightness. Similarly, both laptops come with 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 1 TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD by default. While ASUS positions the Zenbook as a sort of catch-all laptop capable of doing everything from creative work to general productivity, and even a little gaming, the ports tell somewhat of a different story. Both have a single USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, dual Thunderbolt 4 ports with both USB Power Delivery and support for external displays, a single HDMI 2.1 FRL port, and a 3.5 mm audio combo jack. The Zenbook Duo comes with the ASUS Pen 3.0 with wireless charging as well as a Zenbook laptop sleeve, and the bottom display has a detachable wireless keyboard. The Zenbook Duo is available directly from the ASUS store, with the Core Ultra 9 386H variant starting at $2,499.99 and the Core Ultra X9 version starting at $2,699.99. The Core Ultra 9 version is expected to start shipping on May 11, while the Core X9 version will only be available in "late Q2."

Digital Extremes Announces Warframe's "Jade Shadows: Constellations" Update as Big Annual Content Drop

Digital Extremes has long teased an upcoming update for mid-2026, and the game studio has finally put a name on the update and given gamers an idea of what to expect when it rolls out in June. The details about the upcoming update are still scant, but Digital Extremes did reveal that the Jade Shadows: Constellations quest would be a follow-up to the Jade Shadows quest that saw players delve into the backstory and relationships that motivate the enigmatic Stalker. Jade Shadows: Constellations will see players return to Stalker's lair, although this time, the action seems to center on Stalker's children, Orion and Sirius. Digital Extremes released an animated short for Jade Shadows: Constellations, showing off Orion and Sirius battling it out on a desolate world, with the Protoframes of Garuda and Ash, Vena and Ryoku, respectively, also making an appearance in the trailer. By the way Digital Extremes is framing the introduction, it seems as though players will be offered a choice of which of Stalker's children to side with during the quest.

The update will also introduce two new Railjack missions in the Uranus Proxima sector, and both of these Railjack missions will be tied to Vena and Ryoku. Nidus, a stalwart Warframe tied to the game's Infected faction lore, will also receive a minor rework in Jade Shadows: Constellations, in which he will get increased health and an overall buff to his abilities. Finally, DE also confirmed that, starting on May 4, Operation: Belly of the Beast will be returning until June 1, giving players a chance to access new and returning rewards. More details about Belly of the Beast are available here, but players wishing to participateโ€”at least those who have completed The New War questโ€”will be able to play through two operation missions on Uranus, one of which will be in the new Brutus node and feature classic Ascension-style defense mission types, but with special Jade Light Eximus units spawning in for an extra challenge. The animated Jade Shadows: Constellations trailer follows.

The CEO went on to say that the executives have been rethinking the Game Pass approach, commenting that, aside from making it more affordable, they are evaluating how value looks in the context of the modern gaming landscape and the rapidly changing world. Your SSD May Be in the Wrong M.2 Slot โ€” Hereโ€™s How to Tell

The image compares the correct installation of a Samsung 990 PRO SSD in the 'TOP M.2 NVMe SLOT' for maximum speed and performance with an incorrect installation in the 'BOTTOM M.2 SATA SLOT' leading to limited speed and reduced performance.

One of the easiest mistakes to make when building or upgrading a PC is assuming that every M.2 slot on a motherboard is basically the same. After all, they all look nearly identical and take the same "gum stick-shaped" drives. Motherboard marketing pages love to list "4 x M.2" as though that number alone tells the whole story, but in practice, these slots can behave very differently. You could have a perfectly healthy, high-end Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) solid-state drive (SSD) that performs well below expectations simply because it was installed in the wrong slot. What moves CTR. When an AI Overview appears, pages cited in it get more clicks than pages on that same results page that arenโ€™t cited. But both still get fewer clicks than searches with no AI Overview:

  • No AI Overview: ~3.3% CTR
  • AI Overview with citation: ~2.1% CTR
  • AI Overview without citation: ~0.9% CTR

Where clicks are shifting. Searches without AI Overviews are getting more valuable. CTR on those queries increased from 2.8% in early 2025 to 3.8% by February 2026.

  • One reason: AI Overviews handle quick answers. The users who still click through are looking for more.

AI Overviews vary by query intent. AI Overviews show up unevenly across query types:

  • Informational: ~36% show AIOs
  • Transactional: ~5%
  • Comparison: ~95%
  • Question: ~86%

Yes, but. Lower CTR doesnโ€™t always mean worse results. In some cases, clicks stayed flat while impressions grew. This suggests brands may have appeared in more AI Overviews even as CTR dropped.

Paid search is far more stable. When Google showed an AI Overview, paid CTR rose slightly from 14.6% to 16.2%. When it didnโ€™t, CTR fell from 26% to 21.8%.

Why we care. Googleโ€™s AI Overviews arenโ€™t just reducing clicks โ€” theyโ€™re redistributing them, sending more traffic to sites they cite and far less to those they donโ€™t. That means you need to get featured in AI Overviews and also focus more on searches where people click.

About the data. Seer studied 53 brands, 5.47 million queries, and 2.43 billion impressions from January 2025 to February 2026.

Google Ads Demand Gen campaigns hit by review delays

Google Local Services Ads vs. Search Ads- Which drives better local leads?

Some advertisers say ad reviews are taking more than seven days โ€” far beyond normal timelines.

Whatโ€™s happening. Matthew Skelton, a senior PPC specialist, has flagged a pattern many advertisers are now recognizing: Demand Gen campaigns stuck in โ€œin reviewโ€ status for days at a time. The delays are showing up across multiple accounts and industries, with no obvious policy violations or warnings to explain the holdup.

Notably, the issue doesnโ€™t appear to be affecting other campaign types. Search and Performance Max campaigns are still moving through review as expected, pointing to a problem specific to Demand Gen.

Why we care. For advertisers using Demand Gen to test creatives and drive upper-funnel performance, speed is part of the strategy. Long review times slow down iteration, delay launches, and make it harder to respond to seasonal or time-sensitive opportunities.

A week-long delay can throw off pacing and reduce the effectiveness of campaigns that depend on rapid optimization.

The response. Ginny Marvin, Google Ads Liaison, has acknowledged the issue, confirming that some Demand Gen image ads are taking longer than expected to complete review. According to Marvin, Googleโ€™s teams are actively working on a fix, though no timeline has been shared.

Bottom line. If your Demand Gen ads are stuck in review, itโ€™s likely not just you โ€” and for now, itโ€™s a known issue on Googleโ€™s side rather than something advertisers can directly fix.

First seen. This update was spotted by Matthew Skelton who shared his experience on LinkedIn.

NuPhy Expands Node Series Mechanical Keyboards With ISO and JIS Layouts

More often than not, finding a pre-built mechanical keyboard with any layout other than US ANSI can be challengingโ€”broad layout support is one of the reasons Keychron became popular in the first placeโ€”and finding a true 100% mechanical keyboard in ISO or JIS layouts can be even more challenging, given the keyboard market's tendency to prefer more compact designs, like the Wooting 60HE v2. Fortunately, NuPhy has just updated its somewhat affordable Node100 and Node75 wireless mechanical keyboards with support for both ISO and JIS.

The ISO versions include UK, DE, and FR layouts, with JIS only supporting Japanese, although the keycaps are still in the regular Latin alphabet. Interestingly, the JIS layout features a fully split space bar with 2.25 U and 2.75 U keycaps, likely in order to fit the denser bottom row of the JIS layout more than anything. The ISO and JIS layouts are also available in both the full-height and low-profile versions of the Node keyboards. At the time of writing, ISO and JIS are only available in Lunar White and Ink Grey colorways. ISO and JIS layouts also come at a $10 premium over the ANSI versions for both the Node75 and Node100, with both the high- and low-profile Node75 starting at $99.95 in ANSI but $109.95 in ISO. Likewise, the Node100 starts at $109.95 in ANSI-US but $119.95 in ISO and JIS.

How to structure AI-driven SEO: 3 frameworks that drive execution

How to structure AI-driven SEO- 3 frameworks that drive execution

About a year ago, I came out of a meeting with engineers about improving automations for content briefs. A few days later, someone on the analytics team โ€” unrelated to those conversations โ€” pinged me that theyโ€™d built a content brief generator using various data pipelines and APIs.

Thatโ€™s when I realized โ€œgetting people to use AIโ€ isnโ€™t the hard part. Implementation and integration are.

Most SEO teams donโ€™t struggle with access to tools; they struggle to prioritize efforts with outsized impact and align across the organization.

One team is experimenting with prompts, another is auto-generating briefs, and a third is building dashboards no one asked for, often stepping on each otherโ€™s toes. Each has something valuable to contribute, but much of it gets diluted by duplication and a race to execution.

Leadership wants speed. Legal wants caution. Developers want clarity.

The result is fragmentation, not the AI marketing transformation teams need. If AI is going to meaningfully change SEO performance, it has to be structured before itโ€™s scaled. Otherwise, fragmentation only accelerates.

After working with large, complex organizations navigating this shift, Iโ€™ve found three frameworks that consistently prevent chaos and create momentum. Used together, they align vision, clarify what to automate, and turn prioritization into execution.

1. The AI SEO City: Alignment before acceleration

The biggest obstacle in AI adoption is coordination. SEO already sits at the intersection of engineering, content, analytics, product, and brand. Now, with AI search and the rise of social search, add organic social, conversion rate optimization, affiliates, and creative to the mix.ย

AI touches all of these surfaces, but itโ€™s too much for any one person or team. Without a shared mental model, groups move independently, duplication creeps in, and accountability blurs โ€” turning AI into an arms race instead of a productivity driver.

Leading large teams and working with many Fortune 100 executives, Iโ€™ve seen how analogies help teams quickly grasp complex ideas. Research supports this: analogies improve understanding and the transfer of ideas across domains. When teams map new concepts onto familiar structures, alignment accelerates.

Enter: the AI SEO City. Instead of explaining AI as a series of tools and experiments, imagine your SEO ecosystem as a city.

Your website (also known as SEO house) no longer exists in a silo. Technical SEO is the foundation. Content hubs frame the rooms. Off-site SEO is the curb appeal. User experience is the staging.ย

With AI search, that house now interacts with a broader city in a more integrated way. Platforms like TikTok, Reddit, YouTube, and Amazon influence the answers AI systems produce.

To succeed in AI search, this city needs a strong planner to advocate for budgets, plan whatโ€™s next, and maintain what works. The SEO team is the planner, while other teams build and manage their own โ€œbuildings.โ€

AI SEO City

The shift from analogy to action is ownership. Every major platform becomes a building.ย

  • YouTube strategy lives in the Discovery District and the YouTube building.ย
  • App store optimization lives in Solution Square, spanning the Apple, Google, and Creative buildings.ย
  • AI infrastructure and API connections sit in the Engineering Grid.ย
  • Analytics runs the Control Tower.ย

Each building has a lead, KPIs tied to business outcomes, AI-enhanced workflows, and a roadmap โ€” making AI implementation tangible, accountable, and coordinated.

2. SOAR: Deciding what to automate without breaking what works

Once vision is clear, most teams make the same mistake: they try to automate everything. Automation without discernment and process creates fragility.ย

If the sole person who built that automation leaves, youโ€™re leaving the business and your work at risk. SOAR provides a filter for intelligent adoption.

SOAR stands for:

  • Streamline the basics.ย
  • Orchestrate your team.ย
  • Automate monotony.
  • Reposition focus.
SOAR framework

Streamline the basics

Before layering AI on top of chaos, itโ€™s important to have standardized processes (e.g., repeatable briefs, aligned reporting to business KPIs, etc.). Organizations capturing the most value from AI had already digitized and standardized core workflows, McKinseyโ€™s 2023 State of AI report.ย

This has been my experience firsthand. The best and easiest automations to stand up are ones that speed up a defined manual process. So much so that weโ€™ve made a rule as a team to never attempt automating something without doing it manually first.

Orchestrate your team

AI adoption is cross-functional. To manage it successfully, itโ€™s crucial for SEOs to orchestrate teams across the organization. Take the ownership defined in the AI SEO City to clarify review processes, QA ownership, publishing governance, etc.ย

Get stakeholder buy-in on establishing consistent cadences: weekly SEO syncs with rotating teams and purpose, monthly performance reviews, and quarterly roadmap alignment. Predictability reduces resistance.

Automate monotonyย

AI is helping people save about 4 hours per week. Thatโ€™s about 200 hours per year โ€” the equivalent of 5 weeks.

This means using AI for metadata drafting, monthly reporting insights, FAQ expansion, internal link suggestions, keyword clustering, and SERP analysis, so you can spend more time executing high-impact tasks.ย

Donโ€™t automate strategic judgment, brand nuance, or prioritization. If the task is repetitive, rule-based, and can be mapped as a decision tree, automate it. If it requires business context and trade-offs, augment it.

Reposition focus

AI implementation should free strategists to coordinate across teams, build bridges between strategy and business impact, map enhanced customer search journeys, and anticipate AI search shifts.ย

Google has reported billions of monthly AI Overview users, fundamentally changing how queries surface. Now isnโ€™t the time to be manually writing metadata. Now is the time to be building your AI SEO City.ย

The SOAR framework allows you to create repeatable and winning steps for your org, while also determining what could be automated in the long run. This allows you to reposition your focus on higher-impact items that will drive business results, and secure your team firmly, no matter the โ€œAI efficienciesโ€ that are bound to happen at some point.

Get the newsletter search marketers rely on.

3. RISE: Strategic prioritization before execution

Even with alignment and intelligent automation, chaos returns the moment prioritization gets sloppy. Deliverables, audits, and meetings arenโ€™t strategy.ย

Strategy requires intention, trade-offs, and sequencing. Without that discipline, AI doesnโ€™t create leverage. It accelerates randomness.

RISE stands for:

  • Reach.
  • Intent.
  • Scale.ย
  • Execution.ย

Itโ€™s the framework I use to pressure-test whether an initiative deserves resources.

RISE framework

Reach: Size the prize with intellectual honesty

Reach forces you to quantify the upside before you build anything. Move beyond โ€œthis feels bigโ€ or โ€œAI is trendingโ€ and focus on an actual modeled opportunity, grounded in questions such as:

  • How many users does this impact?
  • How much nonbrand demand exists on that platform or within that product category?
  • What percentage of that demand are we realistically positioned to win?
  • What revenue and margin sit behind it?

If a team wants to build an AI-powered content expansion engine, reach means modeling the following:

  • Total addressable search demand by journey stage.
  • Current visibility share versus competitors.
  • Incremental traffic potential at realistic ranking assumptions.
  • Downstream conversion or assisted revenue impact.

If you canโ€™t articulate the business upside in numbers, it doesnโ€™t move forward. This filter alone eliminates most vanity AI projects labeled as innovation. Most importantly, it shows your leadership and strategic decision-making, not just tinkering.ย

Reach answers a simple question: Is the juice worth the squeeze?

Intent: Solve the right problem

Strategies focused on search volume without intent alignment are noise. AI search systems are increasingly compressing generic content and rewarding depth, clarity, multimedia and multimodal formats, and problem-solving.

Intent forces you to slow down and ask:ย

  • What is the user actually trying to accomplish, and what is their process for accomplishing it?ย
  • Are they:
  • Exploring a concept?
  • Comparing solutions?
  • Looking for implementation guidance?
  • Trying to justify a purchase?
  • What tools and platforms are they using in their search?

Operationally, this means mapping initiatives to customer search journeys before generating a single asset.ย

  • Speak to customers or prospects.ย
  • Analyze AI Overviews.ย
  • Study People Also Ask clusters.ย
  • Review how competitors structure content depth.ย
  • Identify whether the opportunity lives in discovery, consideration, or conversion.

If you misunderstand the moment in the journey, no amount of automation saves you.

Intent is where strategy shifts from keyword targeting to experience design. AI doesnโ€™t reward content volume. It rewards clarity of purpose.

Scale: Will this compound or phase out?

A strong initiative shouldnโ€™t win once. It should win repeatedly.

Scale asks whether the idea can become part of the operating system or if it depends on major effort each time.

In AI-driven SEO, scale is structural. Think: modular content frameworks, reusable schema logic, repeatable internal linking patterns, automated QA checkpoints, and integrated dashboards tied to business KPIs.

If an initiative canโ€™t be repeated predictably, itโ€™s a tactic rather than a strategy. Compounding visibility doesnโ€™t come from one brilliant campaign. It comes from systems that run weekly, monthly, and quarterly.

Execution: Embed it where work actually happens

This is where most organizations stumble. A well-prioritized initiative that never enters a workflow is just a well-articulated idea. Ideas alone donโ€™t drive results.

Execution means translating strategy into tickets inside the systems where work already happens (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Asana, or whatever your team uses). It means defining acceptance criteria before development starts, assigning accountable owners, estimating effort, setting QA checkpoints, and predefining how success will be measured.

Execution also means integrating AI outputs into existing governance:

  • Who reviews AI-generated drafts?
  • Who signs off on schema?
  • Who owns rollback procedures if something breaks?

Automation without accountability is operational risk.

The most sophisticated AI model in the world wonโ€™t save a poorly operationalized strategy. But a well-prioritized initiative, embedded into existing workflows, creates momentum that compounds quarter after quarter.

When RISE is applied rigorously, something interesting happens. The number of AI ideas decreases, but the quality increases. Teams stop chasing novelty and start building durable systems. Instead of debating which tool is best, the organization debates which opportunity is worth pursuing.

The shift from experimentation to intentional prioritization is where AI stops being chaotic and starts being transformative.

Structure matters more than speed for AI in SEO

The AI SEO City creates shared vision and ownership. SOAR determines what to automate and how to redeploy attention. RISE ensures prioritization aligns with opportunity and scales operationally.

AI is an accelerant. Without structure, it accelerates confusion. With structure, it accelerates compounding visibility. The teams that win wonโ€™t be the ones producing the most AI content. Theyโ€™ll be the ones building the strongest systems.

Automate the busywork: 8 SEO tasks you shouldnโ€™t do manually

Automate the busywork- 8 SEO tasks you shouldnโ€™t do manually

Take a look at your SEO to-do list. Most of it is probably the same rote, repetitive tasks. Turning everyday work into faster, easier outputs is easier than ever with AI.

Besides obvious tasks like note-taking and team reminders, you can automate tasks such as content audits, page outlines, and keyword research.

Start with simple strategies to save time on the repetitive work you do every day, then expand into using AI tools for automation. Always do a final check yourself, rather than trusting 100% of your work to LLMs, which rarely get things exactly right.

Identify automation opportunities

One simple way to decide what you can automate is to ask yourself: Would I assign this to an intern?

The types of tasks youโ€™d give a new employee are ideal for automation. Let the intern (or AI) do 70% of the work, like research and a rough draft. Then complete the final 30% by giving feedback (or improving your prompts), and finalizing and publishing the draft.

Based on a typical SEO intern job description, these are some examples of tasks that could be automated:

  • Analyze data and identify trends around traffic, engagement, and rank/visibility.
  • Ensure SEO best practices are used when updating content.
  • Create detailed reports for stakeholders about SEO performance, trends, and recommendations.
  • Identify content gaps and duplicate content.
  • Scale SEO-optimized templates across series or topics.
  • Build an editorial calendar and share the strategy playbook.
  • Document prompts, templates, and QA standards.

Other ideas to find automation opportunities:

  • Audit your existing workflows and tasks.
  • Review your onboarding and documentation.
  • Ask your team which tasks they hate most, and why (sometimes the issue is different, but still fixable).
  • Ask AI what it can handle.

Automation wonโ€™t fix these core challenges:

  • Broken systems: You might miss some issues if you donโ€™t know what to look for or how to fix them.
  • Incomplete assets: Youโ€™re only as good as your data. If you donโ€™t have all the tracking or performance numbers you need, itโ€™s unlikely youโ€™ll get complete results.
  • Lack of resources: Itโ€™s great to run an audit, but do you need a ticket to make changes? How long will approval take?

8 opportunities for SEO automation

1. Content calendar

One of the first things I automated was the team content calendar, or at least the first draft.

I used UNIQUE, MAXIFS, IFERROR, and VLOOKUP formulas to paste different reports into a master sheet and generate a list of which pages were due for an update based on our update schedule. Some SEO experts suggest most content should be refreshed at least every 1-2 years, especially since LLMs favor freshness signals.

Add a performance audit with some VLOOKUPs, and put it all in a custom GPT to complete your draft. Then tweak your draft based on your goals and strategy.

Prompt exampleย

Based on the sitemap, performance report, and last quarterโ€™s content plan, give me a table of the pages that are due for an update. Include columns for the URL, title, writer assigned, sessions, bounce, conversion rate, and notes.

Now add to the table the list of pages from the performance report that have dropped more than 30% in sessions or conversion rate. For any pages that are also in the previous update list, add the performance data to the notes column, but donโ€™t include it as a separate row. Format it like this: Sessions -XX% L90D, conversion rate -XX% L90D.

Time saved: 8 hours per quarter.

2. Keyword and prompt research

While Ahrefs and Semrush content gap analysis reports are helpful, they can also include a ton of data to wade through. Thereโ€™s often irrelevant info, such as branded keywords you donโ€™t want to target.

AI can help generate keywords and prompts for you to track or target. To get LLM prompt ideas, start with some of your longest-tail keywords, which you can find in Google Search Console by exporting all keywords to a page and sorting by length. Then ask AI tools to refine your list and generate similar ones.

One watchout: AI tools often struggle to understand user intent, short- vs. long-tail queries, and when to target specific keywords tied to intent.

For example, it may suggest targeting the word โ€œcatsโ€ on a local vet website homepage. While that word may appear often across pages, itโ€™s not necessarily one you want to target. Youโ€™re unlikely to rank for the โ€œcatsโ€ SERP or AIO for a small local site, but you could rank for โ€œcat vetโ€ or โ€œcat care.โ€

Prompt exampleย

Youโ€™re an SEO analyst working on an update for this page. Using this Ahrefs report with competitor page analysis and keywords, identify the 20 most important keywords our page should target, ranked by MSV and relevance, and include those numbers with each keyword in a table.

Donโ€™t suggest targeting any branded keywords. Then give me a list of 10 ways youโ€™d improve this page to better target the keyword, and why, with exact quotes from the copy youโ€™d change.

Time saved: 15 minutes per page.

3. Internal linking

Internal links to your top pages are important for site crawling. The simplest way to automate internal linking is to export an Ahrefs backlink report that shows pages with few internal links, then input that with your sitemap into a GPT. Donโ€™t select โ€œGroup Similar Linksโ€ so all URLs appear in the same report.

Ahrefs also has a feature for internal link ideas. Itโ€™s not great at suggesting pages with slightly different intent, but it can be a useful starting point for simple sites. Encourage your editorial team to use this workflow when working on drafts.

Prompt exampleย

Using this internal link report, sitemap link, and linking best practices documentation, suggest 5-10 pages I could link to. Only include pages with fewer than 10 internal links. Include only highly relevant pages. Donโ€™t include any pages with โ€œauthorโ€ or โ€œaboutโ€ in the URL.

Time saved: 10 minutes per page.

4. Outlines and briefs

If your team works from outlines, briefs, or tickets, start by documenting a basic template for different tasks. Then set up a GPT to create stronger outlines and even add alerting.

For example, input a template or content brief example into an AI tool, along with an example page, then add specifics based on the draft your writer or freelancer is working on. You can save additional time by linking your keyword research or internal linking GPT to fill in intent gaps.

A good rule of thumb: Each custom GPT should have one major focus, then link to supporting GPTs. This avoids creating bloated tools that arenโ€™t effective across multiple requests.

Automation example:

  • Create a Jira survey that automatically generates a ticket.
  • Use a custom ticket GPT to refine it before backlog grooming.
  • Set up a Slack channel with the Jira app to send notifications when tickets open or close.

Time saved: 20 minutes per ticket.

Get the newsletter search marketers rely on.

5. Brand standards and compliance

If you deal with strict compliance or frequent legal reviews, work with those teams to create a custom business GPT. Let writers run high-risk drafts through it to catch simple issues before final review.

Prompt exampleย

Does this page use the correct terminology for the client? Highlight passages that go against editorial, compliance, and brand standards. Include a one-sentence explanation, a citation, and page number from the standards, and three better alternatives.

Time saved: 10 minutes per page.

6. Data validation and reports

Manual data validation is time-consuming. There are simpler ways to analyze and flag anomalies automatically.

For example, use conditional formatting in Sheets to highlight rows with more than a 10% deviation, or apply a color scale.

You can also use a GPT to diagnose why data doesnโ€™t match across reports or align with your test hypothesis.

Prompt exampleย

Review this page performance report and data troubleshooting guidelines. Identify rows that skew the average the most. Export a table with those rows, and include a column explaining why each may cause issues and how to investigate further.

Time saved: 1 hour per 100 rows.

7. Metadata and schema

When creating or optimizing content, write or edit title tags and meta descriptions from scratch. Even if Google rewrites metadata in the SERP, it still helps signal what the page is about.

To optimize metadata, review top-performing combinations on similar pages. CTR is useful, though higher-ranking pages often get higher CTR regardless.

For schema, such as review or FAQ, manual creation increases the risk of errors. Even if schema isnโ€™t automated, you can use formulas to generate it, then validate after publishing.

Prompt example

Youโ€™re a website writer updating a page. Turn these FAQs into a valid FAQ schema using the sample provided. Remove unnecessary formatting, keep links, and convert bullets into paragraphs.

Time saved: 10 minutes.

8. Formatting and shortcoding

If you use HTML, inline CSS, or shortcodes, automate as much as possible to reduce errors and inconsistency.

The simplest approach is using Excel or Sheets functions to concatenate code and content or format tables for your CMS.

For more advanced needs, create a formatting GPT that applies best practices and suggests improvements.

One watchout: If your AI tool canโ€™t read live pages, youโ€™ll need to paste the code first.

Prompt example

Using the formatting reference and brand guidelines, format this page using best practices. Include links, tables, CTAs, and engagement elements. Then check for issues like incorrect wording, missing closing tags, or stray brackets.

Time saved: 15 minutes per page

Make automation work for you, not the other way around

Automation doesnโ€™t need to be complex or take time away from other work. The time savings compound with repeated use, freeing your team to focus on strategic work that requires human judgment.

Encourage your team to identify ways to reduce manual effort and experiment with custom GPTs to streamline repetitive tasks.

New Call of Duty Games Wonโ€™t Launch Into Xbox Game Pass Anymore, But Retro Call of Duty Games Will Reportedly Try to Fill the Gap

A soldier in a World War II setting takes cover behind a stone wall while another soldier fires at enemies inside a damaged church in a scene from the game Call of Duty 2.

Earlier this week, Xbox's new chief executive officer, Asha Sharma, took the first of what we'd later learn would be a couple of big swings with how the Xbox brand is evolving under her purview by decreasing the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and confirming that brand-new Call of Duty games will not launch directly into Game Pass anymore. But a new report claims that there will be more than enough of the long-running military shooter to go around. A report from PC Gamer claims that we'll start seeing older titles from the franchise make their way onto Xbox [โ€ฆ]

Why GEO is a reputation problem

Why GEO is a reputation problem

Thereโ€™s a common misconception that GEO is a technical problem.

Just scroll through LinkedIn or X for 30 seconds, and youโ€™ll find the next viral GEO hack.ย

  • Like โ€œcreate an AI info pageโ€ so LLMs can easily understand your brand.ย
  • Maybe โ€œcreate markdown versions of your contentโ€ to skyrocket AI visibility.
  • Perhaps โ€œget an automated Claude auditโ€ that scans your robots.txt and automatically generates an llms.txt file for you.

But most of these tactics have limited impact because they donโ€™t address how LLMs actually decide which brands to recommend.ย

GEO performance is shaped less by technical tweaks and more by how consistently your brand is positioned, categorized, and validated across the web.

Most widely promoted GEO tactics have marginal impact

If GEO performance is driven by positioning and consensus, itโ€™s no surprise that many widely promoted tactics fall short.

Just search [GEO tactics for LLM visibility], and youโ€™ll see the same tired ideas.ย

The recommendations below arenโ€™t wrong, but theyโ€™re mostly table stakes. Many have misinterpreted this advice and taken these ideas to extremes.

Useless FAQ insertions

Googleโ€™s own documentation recommends implementing FAQs with schema.ย

But all the hype around FAQs for GEO has led brands to make poor choices about which FAQs to include in their content.ย

Instead of answering questions that actually matter, they end up slapping useless questions at the bottom of the page because they think it โ€œhelps with GEO.โ€

Meanwhile, it accomplishes nothing for the end user. Hereโ€™s one such example:

Putting โ€˜key takeawaysโ€™ at the top of every article

Another glorified tactic that isnโ€™t inherently bad, but the upside is overhyped.ย

Short answer summaries can improve readability for humans, but thereโ€™s no strong public evidence that a โ€œkey takeawaysโ€ block materially improves AI visibility on its own.ย

Over-formatting pages for LLM readability

This would mean forcing every page into rigid Q&A patterns, stuffing bullet points into every section, and jamming HTML tables into sections where they donโ€™t belong.ย

Some assume LLMs need heavy formatting assistance in order to retrieve content, so they resort to copywriting tricks like โ€œchunkingโ€ which can overcomplicate the editorial process.ย

Dig deeper: How to chunk content and when itโ€™s worth it

Chasing Reddit for GEO

Others are obsessed with chasing Reddit for GEO, and itโ€™s causing brands to spam Reddit.

This is bad for countless reasons already outlined by Eli Schwartz, but it further supports the argument that GEO isnโ€™t a technical problem.ย

Reddit represents the voice of real people, and thatโ€™s why moderators are vigilantly hunting down inauthentic activity like astroturfing or โ€œSEO shapingโ€ on threads where software evaluation is happening.ย

GEO is a brand positioning problem

GEO is a strategic issue at the executive level, not anย SEOย issue at the operational level.

The biggest GEO upside doesnโ€™t come from technical optimization โ€” but rather, the coordination of brand positioning, messaging, and reputation management across on-site and off-site channels.ย

Everyone assumes the SEO team should be 100% responsible for all aspects of GEO, yet they control only a limited portion of how LLMs form their opinions of a brand.

SEO teamOn-site content pages, blogs, comparison guides, resource pages, etc.ย
Brand team / PMMHomepage messaging, product pages, solutions pages, pricing.ย
PR teamExternal validation, press, and news.ย
PartnershipsAffiliates, analysts, resellers, etc.ย
Customer marketingReddit, social media, and review websites.ย

Ross Hudgens recently posted about this problem. If none of these sources aligns with a consistent narrative, it will be challenging for LLMs to reach a consensus about your brand.ย

GEO is a category alignment problem

Letโ€™s examine [best AI SDR agents] where Coldreach has the No. 1 ranking position with an AI citation.ย

Despite a high web ranking plus earning the URL citation, thereโ€™s no recommendation for their brand regarding the best AI SDR agents.ย

This tactic worked phenomenally well during the traditional SEO golden era when rankings and clicks were the goal.ย

AI, beingย the great normalizer,ย has reduced the effectiveness of this playbook dramatically.ย

Get the newsletter search marketers rely on.

Listicles wonโ€™t brute force your brand into AI recommendations

The main difference between SEO vs GEO is that you canโ€™t bulldoze your way into brand recommendations for a topic your brand lacks recognition for.ย

We just saw that above with the best AI SDR agents example.ย

Hereโ€™s another example: [best insider threat management] where the URL citations are earned by Exabeam, SpyCloud, and Pathlock.

None of these brands is recommended in the answer summary, yet they are all deploying listicles.

AI is the great neutralizer of this tactic, since it just scrapes and summarizes their listicles and recommends every other brand.ย

This is another reason why reporting on โ€œcitationsโ€ as a GEO success metric is a failure in isolation, given that thereโ€™s no corresponding brand recommendation.

Instead, the AI Overview recommends the brands that actually deserve to be there, such as Teramind, Proofpoint, DTEX, etc.ย

Most brands have no idea how theyโ€™re actually represented across LLMs

Despite the unavoidable element of randomness in AI answers, you should reverse-engineer how LLMs piece together information about your brand.ย

Start with bottom of funnel prompts like:

  • โ€œWhatโ€™s the best [category] solution for an enterprise B2B company in the [industry] with [features]?โ€ย

Then evaluate the answers and sources systematically.ย

New research by Kevin Indig found that web search position has the greatest impact on LLM citation rates.ย This is further validation that GEO is fundamentally connected to traditional SEO, as LLMs rely on web search (grounding) to generate answer summaries, especially for bottom-of-funnel product evaluation queries.ย

The key takeaway is that if your pages arenโ€™t ranking highly in traditional SEO, third parties and external websites may control the narrative about your brand.ย

Most high-volume, high-competition categories are dominated by third parties

Itโ€™s useful to understand which product categories are dominated by third parties versus first-party so you can prioritize marketing efforts accordingly.ย

In this example of [best employee monitoring software], the brand recommendation rate is around 90% meanwhile the citation rate is around 15%.ย

This suggests the brand is well covered across third-party pages where LLMs are extracting relevant information.ย

If we examine the SERP, itโ€™s clear that third-party sources account for the overwhelming majority of citations.ย

Citations are coming from affiliates such as Business.com, CurrentWare, PC Mag, Gartner, and other reputable sources.ย

The key takeaway: if your brand wants to compete in high-volume categories, you may be forced to play the affiliate game.ย

What this means for your GEO strategy

Technical website hygiene still matters. If you have a vibe-coded, JavaScript-heavy website with poor internal linking and flat architecture, youโ€™re unlikely to perform well in GEO.ย

Things like XML sitemaps, page indexing, site taxonomy, and internal linking structure are still crucial for retrieval-augmented generation and training data ingestion.ย

However, these are the fundamental pillars of SEO that only create the foundation for GEO to be built upon, rather than accelerating GEO itself.ย

GEO is a brand positioning and category alignment exercise, not a technical SEO audit.ย

Questions you should be asking about GEO:

  • Are LLMs actually recommending our brand, or only citing our pages?
  • When our brand appears in AI answers, what category is it bucketed into? And is that the category we want to own?
  • Do LLMs associate our brand with the right buyer, use case, and problem set? Or are they grouping us with legacy competitors?
  • Are third-party sites, review platforms, Reddit threads, and analyst pages shaping more of our AI visibility than our own content?
  • Is there a consistent positioning narrative across our homepage, product pages, comparative content, review websites, and third-party affiliates?
  • Are we trying to force visibility with listicles and formatting tricks instead of earning recommendation status through market and category alignment?
  • Do we know which prompts matter most at the bottom of the funnel, and have we tested how our brand appears for those prompts?
  • Within our flagship category, are AI answers being shaped mostly by first-party sites or by affiliates and review platforms?
  • If third parties dominate the category, do we have a plan to earn stronger coverage there?
  • What is the role of YouTube in our niche? How often does YouTube influence LLM answers, and are we represented there?
  • Are we publishing content that actually helps buyers understand our positioning and differentiators?
  • Or are we just adding FAQ blocks and โ€œkey takeawaysโ€ because it looks like productive GEO work?
  • What outdated, inaccurate, or weak brand associations keep resurfacing in AI answers? Which team owns fixing those associations once we find them?ย

Stop chasing GEO hacks

The core GEO problem is whether LLMs believe your brand belongs in the answer.ย

LLMs need to reach consensus on your brand, shaped by reputation, category alignment, and repeated confirmation across the web.ย

Technical SEO provides the foundation, but it doesnโ€™t help LLMs reach a conclusion about your brandโ€™s market positioning.ย

The bigger opportunity is to align messaging across every surface that influences how LLMs interpret your brand and why it deserves to be recommended.ย

That means GEO isnโ€™t a siloed optimization problem, but rather an ecosystem visibility problem.

Itโ€™s time to stop chasing GEO hacks, because AI is neutralizing ineffective and outdated techniques once and for all.ย

Google spam reports with personally identifying information wonโ€™t be used and processed

Google updated its spam report page for the second time in the past week or so, this time to say that if you include personally identifying information, the spam report will not be processed or used. This comes just a week after Google said that information would be used and passed along to the reported site.

What changed. Google posted on its spam report page a new highlight box which says two points:

(1) Donโ€™t include personally identifying information in your spam report.

(2) If you do include personally identifying information, then Google wonโ€™t process your submission.

The text block reads:

โ€œDonโ€™t include any personally identifying information in your submission. To comply with regulations, we must send the submission text to the site owner to help them understand the context of a manual action, if one is issued. Because of this, we wonโ€™t process your submission if we determine it contains personally identifying information to protect privacy. Not including such information fully ensures your information is safe and prevents your submission from being discarded.โ€

What was before. As we covered about a week ago, Google said then:

  • โ€œIf we issue a manual action, we send whatever you write in the submission report verbatim to the site owner to help them understand the context of the manual action.โ€

This caused a lot of concern in the industry, not just from fear of being caught calling out your competitors or spammers. But also for legal concerns. Googleโ€™s new wording above says this is now to โ€œcomply with regulationsโ€ where I guess it canโ€™t share personally identifying information.

Why we care. If you want to submit a successful spam report, make sure to not include any personally identifying information. And if you do include personally identifying information by accident, you do not have to worry that the information will be passed along to the reported site. The spam report will just not be processed at all and you can resubmit it.

The bureaucracy tax: How disruptors are winning AI search visibility

The bureaucracy tax- How disruptors are winning AI search visibility

Whether you lead a scaling brand or an established global enterprise, you already know the frustration. Youโ€™re watching massive digital budgets yield diminishing returns, while agile disruptors consistently beat you to the punch.

When you audit the citations within AI Overviews, ChatGPT responses, and Claude summaries, the reality is stark. Smaller, faster competitors are claiming more of the most lucrative, bottom-of-funnel commercial queries.

Itโ€™s time to challenge the outdated assumption that legacy domain authority is enough to protect your pipeline. Weโ€™ve entered an era where operational agility often beats legacy brand equity.

AI models demand rapid, machine-readable data to establish a verifiable consensus. Enterprise red tape, what we call the โ€œbureaucracy tax,โ€ is actively preventing established brands from deploying these assets.

You didnโ€™t build this red tape intentionally. As your business scaled, stability simply choked out agility.

Why legal approves data faster than marketing claims

When deployment speeds are slow, marketing teams inevitably blame legal, risk, or compliance. However, in highly regulated sectors, rigorous compliance is completely non-negotiable.

The operational failure isnโ€™t the legal team; the failure is what marketing is sending them. To win the AI search race, you must completely decouple your factual data from your marketing narrative.

Hereโ€™s the human truth of corporate risk: Lawyers argue over adjectives, not APIs. Legal departments take months to review creative copywriting and subjective marketing claims (e.g., โ€œWe are the fastest, most innovative solutionโ€).

On the other hand, they can review a static, factual data table, a product specification sheet, or a pricing index in a matter of days.

Consider a global payments company trying to capture AI search traffic for enterprise payment gateways. Legal will immediately block a 2,000-word marketing post titled โ€œThe most secure way to process paymentsโ€ โ€” itโ€™s a compliance nightmare.

But if that same marketing team builds a โ€œTransaction fee and API uptime matrixโ€ that simply aggregates factual processing costs and server SLAs into a structured table, legal signs off in 24 hours.ย

When a CFO asks Perplexity, โ€œCompare enterprise payment gateway fees,โ€ the AI bypasses the competitorโ€™s blocked blog post and cites your factual matrix as the definitive answer.

Dig deeper: Why most SEO failures are organizational, not technical

How much does the bureaucracy tax actually cost?

The bureaucracy tax is a measurable, devastating hit to your P&L.

Consider the standard deployment cycle for an established enterprise. A new strategic initiative requires a brief, creative production, legal review, compliance sign-off, and an IT staging ticket. This often results in a sluggish 180-day cycle from ideation to publication.

When a major industry shift occurs, such as a sudden change in regional shipping tariffs, the AI consensus is entirely up for grabs.

Imagine youโ€™re a global shipping company. While your 1,500-word thought leadership piece on โ€œNavigating APAC supply chain changesโ€ is sitting in a three-week IT staging queue, an agile mid-market logistics disruptor publishes a simple, structured โ€œCurrent freight delay and tariff matrix.โ€

The LLM scrapes the matrix, establishes it as the consensus, and instantly captures the most lucrative, high-intent logistics leads of the quarter. They get the revenue, while you get a Jira notification saying your staging ticket has been updated.

To quantify this, we analyzed the AI citation share of top global brands across ChatGPT-4, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. By tracking the original publish dates of their digital assets against the AIโ€™s preferred recommendations for high-value commercial queries, a brutal algorithmic truth emerged: recency can beat relevancy.

When a market shift occurs, disruptors who deploy structured data within 14 days capture, on average, a 32% higher share of AI voice than legacy competitors who take 180 days to publish similar insights, even if the legacy brand has a higher traditional domain authority.

For the slower enterprise, this isnโ€™t a temporary dip in traffic. That deficit takes an average of nine months and $120,000 in defensive paid media to win back. Youโ€™re bleeding capital every single day your content sits in an approval queue.

Get the newsletter search marketers rely on.

The technical bypass: The schema-locked GEO template

To understand why established brands are losing this race, you must look at the underlying technology. Many marketing teams are trapped on monolithic, legacy CMS platforms.

Generative engine optimization (GEO) requires the constant, rapid deployment of complex JSON-LD schema markup and proprietary data tables. If your marketing team has to submit an IT ticket just to update an author tag, the disruptor has already won.

The solution isnโ€™t to go rogue and build insecure shadow IT. Instead, you must negotiate a schema-locked GEO template.ย

Go to your CIO or lead developer and negotiate one single IT sprint to build a rigid, unbreakable CMS template designed exclusively for data.

What does a schema-locked template actually look like?

Picture a proprietary โ€œcomparison engineโ€ for a consumer electronics brand. IT builds the template once, stripping out all design flexibility. Marketing never touches the code.

Instead, a marketer simply fills in three backend text boxes:ย

  • [Competitor TV model].ย
  • [Our refresh rate].
  • [Their refresh rate].ย

The template automatically wraps those inputs in perfect JSON-LD schema, specifically injecting Dataset, SoftwareApplication, and ItemList markup that LLMs actively hunt for, and renders a clean HTML table.

IT loves it because marketing canโ€™t break the site architecture. Marketing loves it because they can spin up 50 competitor comparison pages in a single afternoon, feeding LLMs exactly what they need.

Donโ€™t try to change your entire corporate culture; just build a fast track. Create an AI-readiness pod. This is a cross-functional alignment consisting of one technical SEO lead, 10% of a developerโ€™s sprint capacity, and a dedicated compliance liaison who only reviews data, not copy.

Dig deeper: Why governance maturity is a competitive advantage for SEO

From compliance to consideration in record time

You must engineer workflows that satisfy your risk officers and your CTO while radically accelerating your speed to market. Use these strategic frameworks to protect your AI consensus:

  • If youโ€™re an enterprise CMO bottlenecked by legal, then pivot your GEO strategy entirely. Publish pre-approved, proprietary data tables that require zero narrative oversight to capture the AI citation immediately.
  • If youโ€™re a mid-market founder with zero dev resources for marketing, then mandate the creation of the one-time โ€œschema-locked GEO templateโ€ so your marketing team can operate autonomously for the rest of the year.
  • If your traditional analytics show stable organic traffic, but your pipeline velocity is dropping, then immediately audit your LLM visibility. Youโ€™re likely being actively replaced by a disruptor in the AI research phase.

Agility is the new authority

The rules of digital acquisition have fundamentally changed. The biggest budget doesnโ€™t guarantee victory. The fastest route to machine-readable consensus wins.

You can no longer afford to let legacy infrastructure and misaligned compliance workflows dictate your market share. The bureaucracy tax is an unforced error thatโ€™s quietly draining your bottom-line revenue.

Ruthlessly audit your deployment timelines tomorrow morning. Stop treating GEO as a traditional marketing campaign, and start treating it as a high-velocity data operation.

Dismantle your own red tape and empower your teams to become the undeniable, cited authority at the exact moment the consumer asks the machine a question.

AMD Launches EXPO 1.2 for CUDIMM and Low-Latency DDR5 Memory

AMD has officially launched its Extended Profiles for Overclocking (EXPO) version 1.2, which expands support for more memory profiles, CUDIMM, and additional features. With this release, AMD aims to introduce more advanced memory tuning profiles to the "Zen 5" platform and its DDR5 memory types, while full support for EXPO 1.2 features is anticipated with the "Zen 6" processor generation. This means that full CUDIMM support for "Zen 5" tuning is still limited, and only "Zen 6" will offer complete CUDIMM support. EXPO 1.2 works with AMD's AGESA, but since AGESA 1.3.0.1 lacks full CUDIMM DDR5 support, this feature is postponed until the next-generation "Zen 6." Current-generation "Zen 5" CPUs on the AM5 socket may be able to use EXPO 1.2, but they won't fully support the new DDR5 memory with an onboard clock driver, instead relying on traditional memory to perform the task. Notably, popular AMD developer 1usmus mentioned that AMD EXPO 1.2 brings the following changes.
  • Support for module geometry.
  • Added support for MRDIMM (CUDIMM and CSODIMM are already supported). AGESA 1.3.0.1 still lacks full CUDIMM support; AMD is preparing this for Zen 6.
  • New! tREFI, tRRDS, tWR, ULL Enableโ€”Unified Latency Lock and VDDP(V).

Intel Z970 Chipset for "Nova Lake-S" to Cover Much of the B860 Motherboard Segment

Intel's upcoming "Nova Lake" Core Ultra 400 series processors will introduce not only a new CPU platform and socket but also a new motherboard chipset segmentation, unlike anything we have seen from Team Blue. According to a well-known leaker, Jaykihn, the new Z970 chipset platform is set to take over much of the space currently reserved for B860 motherboards. Meanwhile, B960 is expected to be positioned lower in the lineup as a value-focused option, often used by Intel's OEM partners for all-in-one builds or mini-PCs. This makes the Z970 the primary choice for a large share of "Nova Lake" builders, not just enthusiasts. Intel's higher-end Z990 boards are still expected to target the most demanding systems, while Z970 seems to bridge the gap between premium and mainstream desktop segments, incorporating many features that the Zx70 chipsets typically reserved from the Bx60 chipset ranges over the past few years.

The most likely scenario is that the Z970 will offer overclocking and wider I/O selection, while the Z990 will focus on more diverse expansion capabilities. The third entry-level B960 boards are expected to be starter NVL platform designs without overclocking support, intended to get the platform up and running with minimal I/O and SSD expansion. One of the biggest attractions of the Z970 would be CPU overclocking support, a key advantage over the B960, which is anticipated to be the more affordable option but without the same tuning flexibility. While the two chipsets may share similar baseline I/O features, motherboard manufacturers are likely to differentiate them through board design, port count, storage support, and overall feature set.

Nintendo Switch 2 Development Shocked Even Nintendo Itself, Former Employees Believe, as Release Pipeline Faces PlayStation-Level Pressure

A scene from the game 'The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom' showing a character facing a large construct made of stone blocks with glowing details.

During the Nintendo Switch generation, Nintendo had no trouble delivering a steady stream of first-party games created using what is likely a reliable pipeline. Often, we have heard how the Japanese company likes to sit on completed games for months, only to release them when deemed appropriate, but this could become a thing of the past moving forward as the Japanese company's studios focus on the Nintendo Switch 2, according to what former employees Kit and Krysta revealed during their podcast. Samsung Braces For Unprecedented Chaos After Union Rally Knocks Out 58% Of Foundry Output In A Single Day

Samsung 2nm GAA yields reach 60 percent

There's a high-stakes game of chicken afoot at Samsung, with its management and unionized workers both trying to strengthen their hand via a series of moves and countermoves ahead of a planned showdown next month. Even so, Samsung workers appear to have won the latest round by successfully disrupting nearly a fifth of the output at the highly mechanized Samsung memory fabs as well as nearly three-fifths of the output at the more labor intensive foundry lines. Samsung workers recently managed to curtail output at the tech behemoth's memory fabs and foundry lines by 18.4 percent and 58.1 percent, respectively [โ€ฆ]

Intel Foundry Improves Yields Across Intel 4, Intel 3, and 18A Nodes

Intel posted strong Q1 2026 earnings results, indicating improvements across multiple verticals, from Intel Products to Intel Foundry divisions. Both groups experienced operational enhancements, but Intel Foundry achieved a significant milestone: yield improvement across all major foundry nodes currently in high-volume manufacturing. This includes Intel 4, Intel 3, and 18A nodes, which power the majority of Intel's product portfolio. In the latest Q1 2026 earnings call, Intel CFO David Zinsner noted that the company continues to improve yields on its older nodes, such as Intel 4 and Intel 3, while refining the yield of the current top-performing 18A node to reduce waste and increase the number of functional chips, even in larger dies.
David Zinsner, Intel CFOIntel Foundry operating loss in Q1 was $2.4 billion, improved $72 million quarter-over-quarter as better yields across Intel 4, Intel 3, and 18A drove higher gross margins. This was mostly offset by increased operating expenses associated with an intentional step-up in Intel 14A investments to support both internal and external customer evaluations. As a reminder, Intel Foundry carries the bulk of the cost associated with the early ramp of Intel 18A, and we expect Intel Foundry's operating loss to improve through the year as 18A continues to ramp into volume and yields improve further. Within the quarter, Intel Foundry delivered output above our expectations, drove steady improvements in yields, and met key 14A milestones.

Ubuntu 26.04 "Resolute Raccoon" Launches With Gnome 50 and Linux 7.0

Canonical has today released Ubuntu 26.04 LTS as the company's latest update to the mainstream Linux distro. As we reported previously, Canonical has upgraded the minimum system requirements to 6 GB of RAM, but that change comes alongside a number of upgrades to the distro itself, some of which will be immediately noticeable, while others will silently improve the user experience in the background. Ubuntu users can download Ubuntu 26.04 directly from Canonical, or users of previous Ubuntu versions can simply run "do-release-upgrade -p" in their terminal.

The biggest user-facing change is the move to Gnome 50, which now mandates Wayland and has improved, non-experimental support for both VRR and fractional scaling. Gnome 50 also implements a new feature that allows the cursor to render at the monitor's full refresh rate, even if the foreground app is running at a lower frame rate. The Gnome 50 update also sees the Yaru theme get some nifty visual tweaks that bring it closer to the standard Gnome theme and a new icon pack. Resolute Raccoon also moves Ubuntu up to the Linux kernel 7.0, adding better memory management, removing the "experimental" tag from Rust, and updating various drivers and services, like ZFS, and adding security features, like TPM-backed full-disk encryption. Ubuntu 26.04 is also the first Ubuntu version to ship NVIDIA CUDA out of the box, and AMD's ROCm platform is available in the Ubuntu repos for those looking to run local AI.

Forza Horizon 5 PS5 Sales Nearly Matched PC Numbers, Proving Cross-Platform Viability

There's been a lot of talk lately about the state of platform exclusives in the video game console industry, from controversial rumors about Sony potentially leaving behind much of its PC port business to Microsoft's recent announcement that it would be "reevaluating" platform exclusives as part of its new strategy for Xbox Gaming. All of this aside, however, it seems as though there is a degree of success to be had from casting a wider net when it comes to hardware support.

According to an update on the Virtuos Games websiteโ€”a game studio that helped Playground Games bring Forza Horizon 5 to the PS5โ€”Forza Horizon 5 has sold more than 5 million copies on Sony's console alone. This nearly matches some of the estimated sales figures for the game's Steam release, which sits anywhere between 7.24 million and 8.36 million, depending on which analytics figures you're referencing. This is despite Forza Horizon 5 only releasing on PlayStation 5 in 2025, nearly four years after the original PC and Xbox launch. This sort of timed exclusivity is very similar to the model that Sony has been following with many of its games and largely one that Microsoft has been moving away from, and will possibly return to in the future. As it stands, Forza Horizon 6 is launching on May 19, with a PS5 release date promised for later in 2026.

This is particularly relevant for developers working with enterprise-scale applications or multi-project solutions.

The platform supports development across multiple environments, including Windows, Linux, and container-based systems. Developers can build mobile and desktop applications using.NET MAUI, as well as web interfaces with frameworks like Blazor. Integrated debugging and testing tools are included for both.NET and C++ applications.

Intel Posts Strong Q1 2026 Results, Lands Tesla as First 14A Node Major Customer

Intel has posted better-than-expected Q1 2026 results, with $13.58 billion in revenue, up 7.2% year over year and well ahead of the $12.42 billion analysts had forecast. Adjusted earnings per share hit 29 cents against an expectation of just one cent, sending the stock up more than 15% in after-hours trading. Data center and AI were strong performers, bringing in $5.1 billion against estimates of $4.41 billion. The foundry division revenue generated $5.4 billion, though the vast majority of that was Intel's own internal business. External customer revenue was less than $200 million, mostly legacy wafer work. Also, Intel ASIC business is on track for more than $1 billion in revenue this year. Part of the Q1 surprising results came from Intel clearing out finished goods inventory it hadn't expected to move, according to CFO David Zinsner. The company is also raising chip prices to offset rising production costs, which is reflected in its Q2 guidance of $13.8 to $14.8 billion, a bit more than the $13 billion Wall Street had estimated.

Going back to the foundry side, Intel scored two notable wins on this front. Tesla signed on as Intel's first major 14A customer for Elon Musk's Terafab AI chip complex in Austin, however, the details of this deal are still unknown. The most logical scenario is that Terafab will license the Intel 14A process, but neither side has confirmed it. The second win came earlier this month when Intel expanded its AI CPU deal with Google, the two companies extending their co-development of custom ASIC-based IPUs.

Wooting Announces Silicone Cases for 60HE v2 HE Gaming Keyboard

Hot on the heels of a sizeable update to how Wooting keyboards handle on-board keyboard profile switching, Wooting has announced a new round of cases to add some custom flair to its 60HE v2 HE keyboard. The new silicone Wooting 60HE v2 cases are slightly translucent, and come in aquamarine or white colorways. Wooting also says that the translucent nature of the silicone case allows the keyboard's RGB to shine through the case, sort of like a pudding keycap.

Wooting designed the silicone case for the 60HE v2, but it is also compatible with the friction fit mounting system of the original Wooting 60HE+. It is meant to serve as a lighter, easy to install alternative to the original aluminium case that comes with the 60HE v2. The silicone case, which has a 70 A hardness ratingโ€”making it about as stiff as the rubber on the outsole of a shoeโ€”measures just 19.3 mm tall at its tallest and has a 4ยฐ typing angle. Currently, it retails for $39.99, making it the cheapest aftermarket case Wooting sells aside from the brass UwU case. If you build out a Wooting 60HE v2 module with a silicone case and the cheapest options available, the case is discounted to $19.99, bringing the build down to $179.99, making it just $5 more than the original Wooting 60HE+ at the time of the 60HE v2's launch.

Xbox Execs Reveal New Strategy to Reevaluate Game Pass, Exclusive Games: "Players Are Frustrated"

Since Asha Sharma took over as CEO of Xbox Gaming, she seems to be trying to tackle a number of complaints regularly levelled at Microsoft's gaming division. The most recent material change to be announced to Microsoft's gaming stack is a price cut for Xbox and PC Game Pass. More recently, however, Sharma and Matt Booty, the new Chief Content Officer at Xbox Gaming, published an internal memo detailing a strategy shift, which could result in significant changes to how gamers interact with Microsoft's gaming IPs and divisions.

The full memo is available after the break, but the gist of it appears to be that Microsoft wants to strengthen Xbox Gaming's position as a hardware supplier and build the Xbox ecosystem, starting with Gen 9 (Xbox Series X|S consoles), make Game Pass more sustainable, increase the viability of cloud gaming, and address game discoverability, discoverability, and social features, including live service gaming and UGC games. Sharma and Booty say that they want to make Xbox "the best place for developers and creators to build and grow," and they specifically mention that Xbox will "reevaluate our approach to exclusivity, windowing, and AI, and share more as we learn and decide." The memorandum also mentions making Xbox "affordable, personal, and open," with "flexible" pricing to lower the barrier to entry.

Leaker Tips September Launch for Gears of War: E-Day

It was recently rumored that Gears of War: E-Day would be shown off at a June Xbox Summer Games showcase in 2026, and we have already seen drips and drabs of information about the upcoming game's plot, setting, and characters. Now, according to a purported leak by GhostOfHope on X, Microsoft is planning to launch Gears of War: E-Day sometime in September 2026. GhostOfHope is a known leaker, generally focusing on games like Call of Duty, lending some credence to the rumor. It should be noted that, while E-Day has an official Steam Store page, and Xbox Game Studios has previously acknowledged the game's existence, neither Microsoft nor Xbox Game Studios has actually commented on the release date or a release window. That said, it would not be surprising to see a September launch, since it has been said to be releasing in 2026, and September is usually a busy time for video game launches, since it's right before the holiday season.

(PR) Samsung and POSTECH Publish 2D/3D Switchable Display Research

Samsung Electronics and POSTECH have published a research paper titled "Switchable 2D-3D display through a metasurface lenticular lens" in the prestigious journal Nature, marking notable progress in next-generation display technology through industry-academia collaboration.

Rethinking 3D Displays With Metasurfaces

Valve Adds Steam Deck Frame Rate Reporting Tools for Developers

Since the launch of the Steam Deck, Valve has been steadily updating SteamOS with new features in order to improve the gaming experience on its gaming handheld, all the while working with developers and providing them with tools to make it easier to support the Steam Deck. The latest beta update to the Steamworks dashboard for partnersโ€”developers and publishersโ€”comes in the form of frame rate reporting for SteamOS users. With the new feature, game developers whose games have received Steam Deck Verified status will be able to access data gathered from Steam Deck users who opted into frame rate reporting.

Currently, the feature will provide game developers with a graph of average frame rate data for the 30 days, but Valve says that it will later add additional information about frame rate fluctuations, giving developers even more information to use to optimize the game. Valve says that it has added frame rate reporting to the Steamworks platform in order to help developers address user feedback from gamers who disagree with Steam Deck Verified ratings, stating that this data "can be valuable for developers to better understand the experiences of customers who disagree, especially in the context of a specific title or update." In the future, it will also expand this frame rate data to include games rated as "Steam Deck Playable," and it will add frame rate variance to the graph to indicate frame rate stability. Valve also provides developers with other Deck Verified data gathered by surveying users who have spent more than 10 minutes in a game. Presumably, features like these will eventually be available for the upcoming Steam Machine and Steam Frame, too.
