April 2026 update carries forty-seven fixes for Samsung devices, with those applicable to the Galaxy S23 FE and Galaxy S24 FE as well. The SMR is rolling out sequentially, so the availability may vary depending on model and carrier.

Mauro Porcini, the chief design officer at Samsung, revealed a Galaxy design manifesto that signals a hard turn away from hardware obsession. After years of winning on cameras, chips, and folding screens, Samsung is now chasing emotion and AI.

The framework Porcini laid out runs on four tracks.

During the Q1 2026 earnings call, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that AI4+, the upgraded version of Tesla’s existing AI4 chip, is headed for production by mid-2027, and the company entrusted Samsung Foundry for production.

AI4+, which Samsung Foundry will produce, is also being called AI4.1 internally, though Tesla hasn’t locked in an official name. The specs are meaningfully better than the current AI4: more memory, wider bandwidth, stronger compute.

Samsung already holds orders for both the AI5 and the upcoming AI6. Tesla completed tape-out on AI5 on April 15, and the company is planning to route it first toward Optimus robots and data centers.

Elon Musk said that AI4 is already capable of human-level autonomous driving. There’s no reason to blow up working production lines chasing a chip that cars don’t actually need yet. AI4+ squeezes more performance out of a proven architecture.

As Musk put it, if AI4 hardware gets too outdated, factory continuity becomes the only argument for keeping it alive. Samsung isn’t just making Tesla’s chips, but making Tesla’s decisions possible.

Elon Musk stated that “It may make sense to transition to AI5 for vehicles at some point, but it’s not urgent right now. If AI4 hardware becomes too outdated, it could end up being the only reason to keep factories running.”

The issue is tied to Close Focus Enhancement

The bug shows up when users shoot ultra-close subjects and the phone switches lenses automatically. Close Focus Enhancement is designed to improve macro shots by shifting to a different sensor and adjusting framing.

You frame a subject tightly, hit the shutter, and the saved image ends up slightly zoomed out or reframed. That inconsistency breaks trust in the shooting experience, especially for users relying on precise composition.

Samsung acknowledges the issue but offers no timeline

A moderator on the official Community forums has now acknowledged the bug, via MojoTrick. According to the moderator, Samsung is aware of the discrepancy and is working on improvements; however, no firmware rollout window has been shared.

Many Galaxy S26 Ultra users have already reported the close-up camera problem. Like this time, Samsung moderator acknowledged the problem and pledged to provide a firmware update to fix the glitch upon verification.

Samsung’s newly unveiled display tech could offer glasses-free 3D viewing on the Galaxy S28 Ultra. The official press release itself confirms the potential adoption of the screen technology in phones, tablets, and other devices.

A newly published paper in Nature details a collaboration between Samsung’s Visual Technology Team and POSTECH. The focus is on a new display architecture built around something called a Metasurface Lenticular Lens.

Instead of relying on traditional lenticular layers, Samsung uses nanoscale structures to precisely control how light is directed toward your eyes. The system can switch between standard 2D and immersive 3D using voltage control.

The display adjusts polarization states in real time; users can toggle depth effects on demand. Samsung claims a viewing angle of up to 100 degrees, which is roughly six times wider than older glasses-free 3D implementations.

This eliminates the rigid head positioning that killed earlier attempts. You are no longer locked into a narrow zone where the effect works. Move naturally, share the screen, and the 3D holds up. The entire optical layer comes in at just 1.2mm thin.

This approach of the South Korean tech giant fits into modern OLED stacks without forcing major design trade-offs. The team has already tested the concept on real OLED panels using a fabricated 50x50mm metalens.

The timing lines up with the Galaxy S28 generation, especially as Samsung continues to push display differentiation beyond brightness, refresh rate and Privacy screen.

A switchable 3D panel fits naturally into that strategy. It also opens doors for the Galaxy Z Fold lineup, where larger screen real estate makes depth effects more meaningful for gaming, media, and even multitasking.

With the demonstration of switchable 2D-to-3D display tech, Samsung is not just refining smartphones, tablets, and commercial displays anymore. It is rewriting how depth itself is perceived on a flat slab of glass.

In a newly published paper in Nature, Samsung, alongside POSTECH, details a switchable 2D to 3D display built around a metasurface lenticular lens. The reveal hints that it quietly solves the problems that killed 3D on mobile long ago.

The new tech allows the display to decide when to behave like a normal panel and when to bend light into a multi-view field. The switch happens through polarization control, effectively toggling the metalens between concave and convex states.

• In 2D mode, the optics cancel out. Light passes straight through. You get a clean, high-resolution image, no penalties.
• In 3D mode, the same layer reshapes the light field. Depth appears. Perspective shifts with viewing position; no glasses, no tracking.

Samsung is pushing the viewing window to 100 degrees. It means multiple people can view the same 3D scene from different angles. Samsung’s metalens sits at just 1.2 mm, thin enough to integrate into an OLED without redesigning the device.

What this means for future Galaxy devices

Samsung Sound is a brand-new app from Samsung that facilitates the management of audio devices. The app made its first appearance in February 2026 and is readily available for free download on the Play Store.

After rolling out Hearapy, Samsung followed up with a second app called Samsung Sound. It’s a dedicated tool for controlling Samsung Wi-Fi speakers and soundbars, landing in a slightly awkward spot next to SmartThings.

Samsung Sound looks modern, bringing soft gradients, subtle transparency, and a cleaner layout compared to SmartThings. However, the app hasn’t matched the One UI 8.5 aesthetics yet, which is a major letdown.

The app is arguably cleaner than SmartThings, but the lack of visual consistency stands out. Samsung Sound mirrors the soundbar controls inside SmartThings. You can tweak sound modes, adjust equalizer settings, and manage audio sync.

Meanwhile, there is no IP control, no Auto Power Off toggle, and no Tap Sound shortcut. ou cannot turn the soundbar off from the app. You can power it on remotely, but once it is on, the option to turn it off disappears.

Samsung has placed a large “Open music app” button right on the main screen. However, the button simply launches third-party apps like Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube Music if they are installed.

Samsung Sound is an interesting addition. It offers a cleaner interface and a more focused experience for managing audio devices. For users who prefer a dedicated app over the broader SmartThings ecosystem, there is some appeal here.

Android 17 has been in Beta status since the beginning of the year. Google released the fourth Beta merely six days ago, and today the QPR 1 Beta 1 of Android 17.

Regarding the QPR 1 Beta 1, Google says it continues to update the platform with fixes and improvements. Changes and improvements deployed throughout the QPR 1 Beta will be provided as part of the September Feature Drop.

Unlike major OS releases, QPR builds don’t include app-impacting API changes. However, this Android Program is limited to Google Pixel phones. Samsung is expected to utilize it as a base for its One UI 9 Beta or Stable release.

Samsung is internally working on Android 17-based One UI 9. It will follow the One UI 8.5 rollout, which is expected to start later this month. Users can expect a Beta Program sometime in the latter half of May 2026.

X user Kailash shared an image, showcasing a new Adaptive Clock in One UI 9. With the current iteration adapts to a wallpaper with an object, the newer applies to landscapes and regular wallpapers as well.

The clock appears in HH:MM format, with the new font showing application to the two characters in the middle. However, the newly added clock font design would adopt the appearance based on the wallpaper.

Design-wise, the new Adaptive Clock font has a similar appearance to an already available clock style, but that’s static. It’s clear that the company is bringing even more ways to tailor the lock screen per your preference.

The new font has been added in the internal version of One UI 9. Since it’s functioning well, its debut in the official version seems sure. Meanwhile, changes can be made throughout the Beta testing program.

Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, Lenovo, Honor, and other smartphone brands under the Gold Standard Alliance in China are trying to fix one of Android’s long-standing issues: inconsistent performance.

The alliance has announced a new effort to reduce lag, overheating, and random app crashes across Android devices.

The group says it will soon announce a new unified memory management standard for developers that aligns with changes coming in Android 17. The goal is for apps to use memory more responsibly, regardless of which Android phone they run on.

Right now, that consistency doesn’t really exist. As apps get more complex, they demand more memory, while differences between Android skins and hardware make optimization harder. 

The alliance says this leads to higher development costs, longer testing cycles, and ultimately a worse experience. Things like apps getting killed in the background, phones heating up, or performance slowing down over time.

Google has already started tightening things on its end. With Android 17, the system will set clearer memory limits based on a device’s total RAM and target extreme cases like memory leaks. The alliance is essentially building on top of that with what it calls a “fair memory mechanism.”

The initiative has three parts to it

There are three parts to it. First is a unified standard that defines how much memory apps should use.

Second is a smarter notification system where apps are warned when memory is running low, so they can free up resources before the system steps in. Third is a set of contextual rules that decides when and how those notifications should appear. 

Developers have until June 30, 2026, to adapt their apps. The alliance says each member company will provide documentation and technical support to make the transition easier. 

Established in 2021, Gold Standard Alliance is a non-profit initiative formed by companies, including Lenovo, alongside the major Chinese smartphone makers. It also runs a certification program that highlights apps meeting standards for performance, stability, and efficiency across participating app stores.

Google has now acknowledged a battery drain issue affecting Pixel phones after the March 2026 update, and it’s been frustrating quite a few users.

Reports started showing up not long after the update rolled out. People noticed their phones losing charge much faster than usual, sometimes even when the device was just sitting idle. For many, what used to be an easy full-day battery is now barely getting through half a day.

Most of the complaints have been popping up on forums like Reddit, where users describe overnight battery drops or phones struggling with fairly normal usage. Some have tried the usual fixes, turning on battery saver, adjusting settings, even installing the April patch, but for a lot of people, nothing really seems to help.

A fix is underway

Google has since listed the issue on its Issue Tracker and marked it as a P1 priority, which usually means it’s being treated as urgent.

From what’s been shared so far, one possible cause is that affected devices aren’t properly entering Deep Doze mode after the update. That’s the system that’s supposed to limit background activity when the phone isn’t in use. If it doesn’t kick in as it should, the phone just keeps doing more than it needs to in the background, and the battery takes the hit.

To get a sense of how widespread this might be, Android Authority ran a reader poll. Around 75.9% of respondents said they noticed increased battery drain after a recent update, while about 15% said nothing really changed. It’s not a perfect measure, but combined with all the reports online, it does suggest this isn’t just a small batch of affected users.

The issue doesn’t seem limited to one model either. Reports mention everything from older Pixel 7 units to newer Pixel 10 devices.

For now, Google says it’s investigating, but there’s no confirmed fix or timeline yet. Most likely, any proper solution will arrive through a future update.

In the meantime, some users are trying temporary workarounds like switching network modes or limiting background activity. Results are mixed, though.

Framework is expanding its modular laptop lineup with the new Framework Laptop 13 Pro. This is a more performance-focused version of its 13-inch system, still built around repairability and upgrades, but now with a clearer focus on Linux users.

The company is offering the laptop with a pre-installed Ubuntu option, alongside the usual bring-your-own OS approach. CEO Nirav Patel describes it as a “MacBook Pro for Linux users,” which is thanks to the combination of hardware polish and first-party Linux support.

Framework Laptop 13 Pro Specifications 

At the center of the device is Intel’s third-generation Core Ultra “Panther Lake” lineup. Buyers can choose between the Ultra 5 325, Ultra X7 358H, and Ultra X9 388H, with AMD Ryzen AI 300 options also available. The higher-end Intel chips pair with Intel Arc B390 graphics and up to 50 TOPS of NPU performance, while power profiles range from a 15W efficiency mode to a 60W boost under load.

One of the more notable changes is the shift to LPCAMM2 memory. It’s a modular LPDDR5X format that runs at up to 7467MT/s, but unlike typical soldered memory, it can be replaced or upgraded. Framework says this allows up to 64GB of RAM while still keeping the efficiency benefits of LPDDR5X, including claimed battery life beyond 20 hours.

Storage is handled through a PCIe Gen5 M.2 2280 slot, with support for up to 2TB Gen5 SSDs or larger Gen4 drives. Like previous models, the laptop sticks to a flexible expansion card system, letting users swap ports like USB-C, HDMI, or Ethernet as needed.

DJI had quite a bit going on with its latest announcements, but while the Mic Mini 2 grabbed most of the attention, there was also a quiet tease of something more interesting in the background, the Mic Mini 2S.

The Mic Mini 2 has already been listed with complete specifications and pricing, and it’s clearly aimed at everyday creators. Now the Mic Mini 2S is teased, and it looks like it’s meant for a different crowd. DJI hasn’t shared everything yet, but from what’s been hinted so far, this is the version for people who need a bit more flexibility, especially when things get slightly more complex than a one-person setup.

One of the bigger changes is the multi-transmitter support. The Mic Mini 2S is said to use a four-transmitter, one-receiver setup, which basically means you can run up to four mics through a single receiver. For things like panel discussions or group shoots, that could make life a lot easier. No need to juggle multiple receivers or patch things together.

Then there’s internal recording, which wasn’t included in the Mic Mini. Each transmitter of the 2S can record audio on its own, using built-in storage. It’s one of those features you don’t think much about until something goes wrong. A signal drop, interference, or just moving out of range, it happens. Having that backup running in the background can save an entire take.

Put those together, and the 2S feels like DJI addressing the usual weak spots with wireless audio. Managing multiple people and making sure you don’t lose audio if the connection isn’t perfect.

Pricing is expected to land above 1,000 yuan, so it’s clearly positioned above the standard model. There’s no full spec sheet yet, and DJI hasn’t confirmed a release timeline either. But from this early look, the direction is pretty clear. The Mic Mini 2S isn’t trying to replace the Mini 2, it’s building on it for users who need something a bit more dependable.

Qualcomm is said to adopt an entirely different strategy for the upcoming Elite chips in the Snapdragon 8-series this year. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 will reportedly have a “Pro” sibling for the first time, marking a shift toward a tiered structure similar to Apple’s standard and Pro chips.

While both Snapdragon Elite SoCs will use TSMC’s most advanced 2nm node, the “Pro” variant is rumored to carry significant upgrades that could even beat Apple’s upcoming A20 chips. The official unveiling is still months away, but we already have plenty of details to give you a solid overview of what’s to come.

Advanced TSMC’s 2nm node unlocks next-level performance

Qualcomm will be one of the first brands to produce smartphone chips using TSMC’s 2nm advanced node, with MediaTek and Apple also expected to unveil their 2nm chips around the same time later this year. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro goes a step further as it’s said to utilize TSMC’s newer ‘N2P’ architecture instead of ‘N2’. Rumors suggest it could maintain a slight edge over Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro.

MediaTek is also rumored to adopt the newer N2P node for the upcoming Dimensity 9600 Pro to better compete with Qualcomm and Apple. N2P offers roughly 5% better performance than the standard N2 node while enabling manufacturers like Qualcomm to easily port their 2nm designs to this more efficient process without costly redesign.

Efficiency-focused CPU cluster hitting 5.0 GHz in peak speed

Qualcomm has kept the same ‘2+6’ cluster (2 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores) for all Snapdragon chipsets featuring Oryon CPU. That could change this year, as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro is said to feature a ‘2+3+3’ cluster (2 prime cores, 3 performance cores, and 3 efficiency cores) to achieve better efficiency.

The three efficiency cores could operate at a much lower speed, reducing power draw for tasks that do not require much processing power. The chip could also offer higher CPU performance, as it’s rumored to reach a peak clock speed of 5 GHz. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 can already reach a peak speed of 4.61 GHz, with the ‘Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy’ variant reaching up to 4.74 GHz. Looking at them, it wouldn’t be surprising to see 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro hitting the 5.0 GHz mark. If that happens, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro would be the first smartphone chip to enter that territory.

A tipster recently suggested that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro may not deliver a significant CPU performance uplift (less than 20%), but will double down on efficiency. However, the GPU could offer a radical jump.

GPU upgrades may be impressive

While the rumored CPU upgrades look modest, the GPU on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro is said to bring substantial gains. According to recent leaks, the SoC will use an Adreno 850 GPU with a dedicated 18 MB of GMEM. For those unfamiliar, GMEM refers to a high-performance graphics cache that accelerates rendering, ray tracing, and AI workloads.

The chipset could come with a 50% increase in GPU bus width and memory capacity compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This would directly benefit high-resolution gaming, advanced ray tracing, and on-device AI inference.

Faster memory and storage

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro is said to bring support for LPDDR6 memory, in addition to LPDDR5X. A leak noted that the chip could support either quad-channel 24-bit LPDDR6 or quad-channel 16-bit LPDDR5X, alongside 18MB GMEM and 8MB LLC, thereby offering greater bandwidth and cache.

The Pro chipset reportedly supports UFS 5.0 storage with two high-bandwidth lanes. The chip would likely deliver peak bandwidth and better sustained performance in memory-bound tasks such as high-fps gaming, large-language-model inference, and heavy multitasking.

Better thermals and HPB cooling

Qualcomm has reportedly upgraded thermals on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro to deliver sustained performance for longer sessions without severe thermal throttling. A leaked block diagram shows a new HPB (Heat Pass Block) cooling solution for the Pro chip, similar to the HPB solution in Samsung’s Exynos 2600.

The HPB solution features a dedicated heat transfer block positioned directly over the chip package to improve heat spreading to the phone’s vapor chamber or other cooling elements. This could only be introduced in the Pro model, with uncertainty around whether the standard Gen 6 will receive the same cooling design.

Oppo has begun seeding its April update for ColorOS 16 in India, bringing a couple of subtle yet noticeable changes to the Photos app. The update aligns with seasonal trends and introduces improvements that aim to make everyday media interactions smoother.

ColorOS 16 April update: What’s included

The latest update introduces a UEFA Champions League-inspired watermark feature within the Photos app. This allows users to add a football-themed identity to their pictures, particularly useful for those capturing or sharing match-related moments. The integration feels timely, especially during the ongoing tournament period.

Another update comes in the form of refined playback controls for videos. Users can now adjust playback speed on the fly with options, such as 0.5x, 1.0x, 1.5x, and 2.0x. This addition simplifies the process of reviewing clips, whether for casual viewing or quick edits, without relying on external apps.

Oppo has confirmed that the rollout started on April 8 and will continue in stages until April 30. Users who have not received the update yet can check manually through the software update section in settings.

At the launch event yesterday, Oppo introduced a new pair of open wireless earbuds called the Oppo Enco Clip 2. Unveiled alongside the Find X9 series and other wearables, it is set to go on sale in China starting April 24, priced at CNY 899 (around $120), with a limited-time offer bringing it down to CNY 849.

The Enco Clip 2 stands out primarily for its open-ear, clip-style design. Instead of sitting inside the ear canal like traditional earbuds, these wrap around the outer ear. Each earbud weighs just 5.2 grams, and the design uses an ultra-thin adaptive titanium plate, which Oppo says helps with both fit and durability.

Oppo Enco Clip 2 features a dual driver, DAC setup

On the audio side, Oppo says the earbuds are co-developed with Dynaudio, a Scandinavian audio company, and include a dual dynamic driver setup combining 11mm and 9mm units. 

The setup is tuned to produce more natural sound, with better mids and extended highs. There’s also support for a wide 20Hz to 40kHz frequency range, along with spatial audio for a more immersive effect.

Internally, the Enco Clip 2 uses dual DACs and what Oppo claims is the industry’s first 6nm chip in this category. According to the company, that chip boosts noise reduction computing power by up to 100 times, which mainly benefits call clarity. A three-microphone system, paired with AI processing and a VPU sensor, handles noise reduction during calls.

The earbuds can last up to 9.5 hours on a single charge, with the case extending total playback time to around 40 hours. The case itself packs a 530mAh battery and charges over USB-C in about 80 minutes.

Connectivity is handled over Bluetooth 6.1, with support for dual-device pairing and a range of up to 10 meters. The earbuds also support common audio codecs like SBC, AAC, and LHDC. Interestingly, Oppo says the Enco Clip 2 supports Apple voice commands, allowing users to control playback, adjust volume, and manage calls hands-free.

The earbuds are available in two finishes: High-Gloss Gold and Space Grey. It also has an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance.

Connectivity is a strong point, with a front-facing USB-C 40Gbps port, two USB-A 10Gbps ports, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The rear panel adds dual 2.5GbE LAN ports, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and additional USB ports. Wireless support includes Wi-Fi 6.

Huang Tao has highlighted that the Y600 Pro represents a major step forward in battery capacity for the Y series. The device is equipped with a 10,200mAh battery, which is the largest ever on a Vivo phone so far.

It is designed around five key aspects: long-lasting performance, stable output across a 60°C temperature range using second-generation semi-solid battery tech, efficient power management with chip-level AI optimization and certified energy efficiency, long-term durability with up to six years of battery health, and fast charging with 90W support capable of a full charge in under 80 minutes.

The phone also aims to deliver over 24 hours of light usage and more than 12 hours under heavy workloads. Additional highlights include a premium design, IP68 and IP69 ratings, improved connectivity, OriginOS 6, and a 1.5K eye-care display.

Vivo Y600 Pro specifications (rumored)

The Vivo Y600 Pro recently appeared in China Telecom’s product listing, revealing its complete specifications. It is expected to feature a 6.83-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels.

The phone will be powered by the Dimensity 7300e chipset and run on Android 16 with OriginOS 6. It includes a 50-megapixel rear camera and a 32-megapixel front camera. The device will be available in multiple configurations, including up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.

The phone measures 8.15mm in thickness and weighs 221 grams. It also includes an in-display fingerprint scanner and will be offered in Floating Gold, Bright Moon Black, Vast Blue, and Starry Purple color options. The selling date in China is expected to begin from April 30.

“Fan Edition” phones usually follow a pretty predictable formula. You get something that looks like the flagship, but with a few compromises under the hood to keep the price in check. The Vivo X300 FE, at least based on early leaks, doesn’t seem to be going that route.

Fresh images shared by tipster Yogesh Brar give us a first look at the device, and there’s one thing that immediately stands out. Not just the phone, but what you can attach to it.

The X300 FE appears to support the external Zeiss G2 lens attachment, similar to what Vivo has done on its higher-end models. The images show the phone alongside a dedicated case and a clip-on lens, which locks onto the camera module at the back. It’s a bit unusual for something positioned as an FE model. Usually, this kind of modular camera setup is reserved for the more expensive variants.

The phone shown is in a green finish, which is said to be exclusive to India. There are also expected to be Purple and Black options, but the green one definitely stands out a bit more.

On paper, the hardware doesn’t look toned down either. The phone is tipped to run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, which would make it the first FE model from Vivo to use a Qualcomm flagship chip. Up front, there’s a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 50MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. Not the most extreme setup, but still pretty solid for this segment.

Battery-wise, it’s expected to pack a 6,500mAh unit with 90W fast charging. On the software side, it should ship with OriginOS 6 out of the box.

Launch timeline

Vivo has already locked in the launch date for India. The X300 FE is set to be announced on May 7, alongside the X300 Ultra, with sales expected to begin from May 14.

About a week ahead of its teased global reveal, the DJI Mic Mini 2 briefly appeared on DJI’s China website, revealing full details. The listing has since been taken down, so this isn’t an official global launch just yet. Still, the information is already out there, and it gives us a pretty clear look at what DJI is preparing.

Most bundles include a black and white faceplate by default, while the top-end kit gets the full set. It’s a small change, but it makes the mic a bit more fun to use on camera.

You get 48 kHz 24-bit recording, automatic anti-clipping, and basic noise cancellation with two levels. Battery life also looks similar, around 11.5 hours for the transmitter and 10.5 hours for the receiver, with up to 48 hours total when using the charging case.

There are three voice tone presets: Normal, Bright, and Rich. It’s a simple feature, but useful if you want to tweak how your voice sounds without editing later. It also supports 32-bit floating-point internal recording.

Pricing and availability:

Based on the now-removed listing, the Mic Mini 2 starts at CNY 179 (around $26) for just the transmitter. From there, it goes up to CNY 329 (~$48) for a basic transmitter and receiver combo, or the same price if you opt for a transmitter with a charging case instead. A more complete bundle with a charging case, one receiver, and two transmitters is listed at CNY 429 (~$63).

Going further up, configurations with additional transmitters are priced at CNY 599 (~$88) and CNY 698 (~$103). As for accessories, windscreens and magnetic faceplates are listed at CNY 99 (~$15), while special edition versions of the faceplates go for CNY 199 (~$29).

One thing that’s a bit uncertain is availability in the US. A version of the Mic Mini 2 had shown up in FCC filings earlier this year, but those listings have since disappeared. That’s similar to what happened with the Osmo Pocket 4, which didn’t launch in the US right away. So for now, it’s not clear if or when this one will make it there.

Noise has launched a new smartwatch in India called the NoiseFit Diva Araya. It sits in the brand’s premium range and focuses heavily on design, with a look that leans more towards jewellery than typical smartwatches.

The Diva Araya is the company’s first ceramic smartwatch. It uses a scratch-resistant ceramic body that is meant to keep its finish over time. Around the dial, there are 60 precision-set stones, which give it a more polished, high-gloss appearance. The watch is available with three strap options: ceramic, metal, and mesh, with the ceramic version being the main highlight.

It comes with a 1.28-inch AMOLED display that can go up to 850 nits of brightness. This should make it usable both indoors and outdoors without much trouble. There are over 100 cloud-based watch faces available, along with options to customise them.

The smartwatch supports Bluetooth calling and runs on Bluetooth 5.3. Other features include an AI voice assistant, notifications, music and camera controls, weather updates, and a find my phone function. It also includes basic tools like a calculator, timer, stopwatch, and world clock.

On the health side, the watch tracks heart rate, SpO₂ levels, sleep, and stress. It also includes cycle tracking with phase insights and overnight skin temperature monitoring. An SOS feature with live location sharing is included for emergency situations. The battery is rated to last up to five days on a single charge. Charging is done using a magnetic cable. The device comes with a one-year warranty.

Anker has officially launched the Soundcore Space 2 over-ear headphones, following its introduction last month. These headphones have debuted as a follow-up to the Space One released in 2023. The new model is priced at $129.99. It is available in Seafoam Green, Linen White, and Jet Black through the company’s official store and major retailers, including Amazon.

The Space 2 focuses on everyday listening and travel use. It comes with a four-stage active noise cancellation system that targets low-frequency sounds, such as traffic or engine noise during flights and train rides. There is also a transparency mode, so users can hear announcements or conversations without taking the headphones off.

For audio, the headphones use 40 mm double-layer diaphragm drivers. Wired playback supports Hi-Res Audio, while wireless listening uses the LDAC codec for higher data transfer compared to standard Bluetooth audio. The product features a dual filtration system with dry-and-wet separation to prevent waste from dissolving into the water. It includes mineral and biochemical filtration, optional UV sterilization, and high-density filter media with activated carbon, mineral balls, and nano-porous chambers to promote beneficial bacteria growth and remove harmful substances like ammonia and nitrites.

OPPO Find X9s Pro has been launched in China alongside the OPPO Find X9 Ultra, bringing a compact flagship with a focus on camera hardware and battery capacity. The device runs on the Dimensity 9500 chipset and ships with Android 16-based ColorOS 16.

The phone features a 6.32-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2640 × 1216 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate. It supports Dolby Vision and reaches up to 1800 nits peak brightness. The panel uses ultra-narrow 1.1mm symmetrical bezels and includes an in-display 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. OPPO also adds a 1nit eye protection mode for low-light viewing.

In terms of build, the device measures around 8.4mm in thickness and weighs 198g for most variants. The Breeze Green version is slightly heavier at 200g and 8.60mm thick. The 12GB+512GB version comes in at 4,499 CNY (~$650), and the top-end 16GB+512GB configuration is listed at 4,999 CNY (~$720). It is available in Dawn Gold, Mocha Brown, and Monet Purple.

There is no clarity whether the Oppo Pad 5 Pro will be released outside of China. It is also being said the OnePlus Pad 4 scheduled to launch on April 30 in India could be a rebranded version of the Oppo Pad 5 Pro.

DJI has introduced the Power 1000 Mini, a more compact portable power station featuring a 1008Wh battery. It’s about half the size of the standard Power 1000 and is designed for users who need a smaller, travel-friendly power solution for outdoor shoots, trips, and light backup use. The device was first unveiled in China in January and has now been made available in global markets.

The unit measures 314 × 212 × 216 mm and weighs 11.5 kg. It delivers 800W continuous AC output, with a peak of 1000W. Depending on the region, bypass output can go higher. It can also run select appliances rated up to 1200W. The port setup includes two AC outlets, two USB-A ports, one USB-C port, a retractable 100W USB-C cable, and an SDC port for DJI devices.

It uses an LFP battery rated for around 4000 charge cycles while maintaining about 80 percent capacity. Charging options include wall power, solar, and car input. With an AC input, it reaches 80 percent in 58 minutes and a full charge in 75 minutes. Car charging uses a 400W system and takes about 160 minutes for a full recharge. Solar charging is supported through a built-in 400W MPPT module with MC4 connectors.

The Power 1000 Mini also works as a UPS with a 0.01-second switchover during outages. It supports pass-through charging when connected to solar panels. There is a built-in LED light with adjustable brightness.

On the durability side, the body is flame-retardant and tested to handle up to one ton of pressure. It is rated to operate at altitudes up to 5000 meters. The sealed inverter design helps protect it from rain and salt exposure. Internally, it uses a 10-sensor battery management system. The unit can be monitored through the DJI Home app over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0.

The SDC port supports up to 300W output and allows fast charging for compatible DJI devices, including Air 3, which can go from 10 to 95 percent in about 30 minutes with a separate cable.

The Power 1000 Mini is priced at USD 467 and is now available globally through DJI’s official store and retail partners.

Less than a week after announcing the Osmo Pocket 4, DJI has unveiled the Osmo Mobile 8P in China today. The new gimbal brings a major design overhaul with a removable display module that allows it to function even as a wireless remote control. 

The controller attaches magnetically and can be removed for remote shooting. It has its own display that mirrors what the camera sees, including subject detection boxes. You can tap on the screen to choose who or what to track, and switch targets without going back to the phone.

The remote also doubles as a control hub. Its joystick doesn’t have fixed directional limits, which means it can be used more fluidly for gimbal movement, zoom, or adjusting lighting. 

DJI Osmo Mobile 8P Specifications 

At the center of the update is Smart Follow 8.0, which comes through the updated DJI Mimo app. DJI says the new version is designed to hold onto a subject more reliably, even in crowded environments like concerts or exhibitions. The system can identify a subject on-screen and continue tracking without losing focus when other people or objects move through the frame.

There’s also a new multi-functional tracking module 2, which expands what the gimbal can follow. It’s not limited to people anymore; it can lock onto pets like cats and dogs, and even track objects or vehicles. That module also includes a built-in fill light with adjustable brightness and color temperature, controlled directly from the remote.

On the connectivity side, the Osmo Mobile 8P supports Apple DockKit, allowing quick pairing through NFC and Bluetooth. 

Hardware-wise, DJI is combining several features into one unit. The gimbal includes a built-in extension rod, tripod, and fill light, along with up to 10 hours of battery life. There’s also a USB-C port that can be used to charge your phone while shooting.

The Osmo Mobile 8P continues to support gesture controls, automated camera movements, and composition assistance. For iPhone users, DJI is also offering a magnetic quick-release back sticker for faster mounting and removal.

Price and Availability

The DJI Osmo Mobile 8P starts at 899 yuan (around $130) for the standard version. A step-up option, the Osmo Mobile 8P AI, is priced at 1,099 yuan (roughly $160) and bundles in the Tracking Module 2. 

At the top end, the Osmo Mobile 8P Vlog combo costs 1,299 yuan (about $190), adding both the Tracking Module 2 and the DJI Mic Mini 2 for a more complete shooting setup.

Samsung is reportedly leasing 140,000 square feet warehouse at the Park79 Commerce Center, an industrial park sitting right on US 79 near its chip plant in Taylor, Texas.

According to TaylorPress, the source had direct knowledge of the deal, while Samsung declined to comment. That’s 40% of the entire Park79 development, locked up by a company that officially won’t admit it’s the tenant.

Samsung’s Taylor fab is inching toward full operation, anchored in part by a reported $16 billion chip contract with Tesla running through 2033.

The Taylor plant was announced in November 2021 with an initial $17 billion investment. By the end of 2026, it’s expected to directly employ around 1,500 people, with hundreds more supplier jobs trailing behind.

Samsung has operated in Texas since breaking ground in Austin back in March 1996. It knows how this state works. Now it’s quietly stitching together real estate around Taylor before the doors are even fully open.

Apple wants internal documents from Samsung to help fight its antitrust case, but the US DOJ just made that a lot harder.

Earlier this month Apple asked a US court for permission to pull documents directly from Samsung Electronics. Apple wants to show that users can jump freely between iPhone and Android, that the so-called walled garden isn’t actually trapping anyone.

US DOJ fired back (via 9to5Mac) in a new court filing, and the core complaint isn’t really about Samsung. The US regulator pointed out that Apple has known for months just how central Samsung’s data is to this case.

Here’s where it gets awkward for Apple: the process required to obtain documents from a foreign company runs through the Hague Convention, a slow-moving international legal mechanism that nobody confuses with fast.

There’s a real chance the Samsung data arrives after the discovery phase has already closed. The DOJ is essentially saying Apple knew all this and stalled anyway.

The DOJ explicitly told the court not to extend deadlines or push the trial back just because Apple is scrambling for evidence. The DOJ’s position is narrower: keep the schedule, don’t let Apple turn a late evidence request into a delay tactic.

Samsung sits at the center of a case it didn’t ask to be in, watching Apple and the US government argue over whether its internal data can arrive on time to save Cupertino from itself.

The irony is that Apple needs Samsung to prove it doesn’t need anyone.

Samsung’s mobile business could be heading into unfamiliar territory this year. TM Roh, who leads the company’s Device eXperience division, has internally warned of a possible full-year loss for the MX unit, according to industry sources.

According to MoneyToday, TM Roh internally warned that Samsung’s mobile unit could face an annual loss. If that happens, it would mark the first annual loss since Samsung reorganized its mobile operations under the MX business.

Samsung has already hiked the price of the Galaxy S26 series. The company is also rising prices of existing products that were released in the past. Future products don’t seem to be safe from a price bump, given the current scenario.

At the center of the issue is LPDDR, the low-power memory used in nearly every smartphone. For years, it was a mobile-first component designed for efficiency.

Smartphones ship in millions, but each device uses relatively small amounts of memory. AI infrastructure, on the other hand, consumes massive quantities in a single deployment. As a result, suppliers are prioritizing high-value AI demand.

LPDDR costs nearly doubled in the first quarter compared to the previous one, with expectations of another steep jump in the current quarter. DRAM and NAND are both rising together, amplifying the pressure on manufacturers.

An industry official said, “As the AI industry absorbs even mobile memory, smartphone manufacturers are struggling to secure sufficient supply. Prices have already increased, and further hikes may occur in the second half of the year.”

Leak season for the next Galaxy S lineup has already begun. A new leak sheds light on specs and features of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and 6 Pro that will potentially power the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra globally.

Weibo leaker DCS revealed key specs of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, and the chips powering the Galaxy S27 series may be made by TSMC.

TSMC’s 2nm process node means better efficiency, sustained performance, and improved thermal behavior. Qualcomm is also considering a 2nm Snapdragon chip, but it seems unlikely to be from the 6th generation.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 (SM8950) configuration:

• 2 prime cores
• 3 performance cores
• 3 efficiency cores

The Pro variant keeps the same layout but pushes it harder. Higher clocks are expected, but Qualcomm is also stacking more resources around it.

The standard chip reportedly uses 16MB L2 + 6MB SLC cache, while the Pro bumps system-level cache to 8MB SLC. It may sound minor, but SLC plays a big role in reducing memory latency during heavy workloads like gaming and AI tasks.

The Galaxy S27 and S27+ are expected to use Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2700 in most markets. Meanwhile, regions like the US, Canada, and China could get the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.

Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra are tipped to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro globally, which at least brings some consistency at the top end.

Google Wallet may start showing live flight and travel updates on the Samsung Now Bar. This update will make tracking travel status easier than ever.

Recently, the Google Wallet app silently rolled out support for Live Update. Pixel phones running Android 16 (and Android 17 Beta) have started showcasing flight updates on the lock screen and always-on display.

Android’s Live Update is quite similar to Samsung Now Bar, so expect an imminent Google Wallet support rollout to the latter system.

A flight ticket stored in Google Wallet will trigger tracking of the flight and display status in real time. It will go beyond the existing notification system that alerts you with updates like boarding time changes.

On Pixel phones, the Status bar displays the Google Wallet logo for flight tracking. Expanding it shows the estimated arrival time and airline. On the AOD and lock screen, you see a progress bar that shows flight duration.

The alert is interactive too; when you tap the pill, the system takes you to the Google Wallet app. It’s the usual functionality of Live Update and the Now Bar system to stay linked with roots.

Samsung’s Now Bar should feature a similar appearance. When it arrives, Google Wallet will join the existing services, including Sports from Google, Google Finance, and Google Maps.

Google and Samsung closely work to tailor Galaxy experiences. Like existing ones, Google Wallet will be integrated into Now Bar, but the timeline is not known yet.

You may not have minded that your Galaxy Buds 2 Pro earbuds haven’t received a new firmware update lately. Well, Samsung hasn’t forgotten, bringing a new update with stability and reliability improvements.

Galaxy Buds Able are in development with an open-clip design. Samsung has Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro as the latest hearable offering. Meanwhile, the company is also making sure older products function pretty well.

Earlier, Samsung rolled out new firmware to the Buds 3, Buds 3 FE, and Buds 3 Pro. Now, the company is rolling out (via TarunVats) the April 2026 update to the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro (and probably for the Buds 2 as well) in India.

The update carries PDA build version ending with AZD1. Samsung keeps security patches limited to mobile devices; that said, the earbuds are getting “stability and reliability” improvements.

Samsung’s update changelog says these OS-level tweaks improve the device behaviour. Expect an even more fluid experience while accessing your Buds 2 Pro settings through Galaxy Wearable, along with better listening.

Samsung has installed Spatial Signage, a glasses-free 3D screen, at the entrance of its exhibition hall to provide guidance on products and the experience program for each section. The exhibition also includes Micro RGB for visitors to experience the immersive picture quality.

Electronics

A dedicated space will showcase the Galaxy S26 series with an upgraded camera and Galaxy AI features. Visitors are allowed to test the camera quality with the main and telephoto cameras. People can also test the Super Steady with Horizontal Lock for super stable video recording.

Visitors can check the upgraded photo assist to edit images with generative AI and view the result on a large display in the exhibition area.

Furthermore, Samsung is hosting a special AI session, “Galaxy AI Live Show,” to help people understand the Galaxy AI features that come with the Galaxy S26 series. The show consists of two segments – Creative Show to walk through creative and editing features. The privacy show will focus on security features such as call screening and privacy display.

Samsung Electronics is seeing massive progress with the Harman audio unit, which is becoming a core pillar of Samsung’s automotive electronics business. According to reports, this subsidiary has recorded 15 trillion won ($10.1 billion) of sales in just 10 years after Samsung’s acquisition.

In 2025, Harman reached 15.7833 trillion won from sales, with an operating profit of 1.5311 trillion won, marking a record high. Compared to this, the company had 7.1034 trillion won in 2017. So, its sales revenue has doubled in the past decade.

Samsung acquired Harman in November 2016 and finalized all of the acquisition process in March 2017 for 9.4 trillion (about $8 billion), which was the largest merger and acquisition of a foreign firm by a South Korean company at that time.

Since then, Samsung has integrated Harman in all of its electronics products, including home appliances, smartphones, semiconductors, telecom devices, smart TVs, and electronics. However, the most notable application was Smart Car’s cockpit and in-car audio systems.

The Korean tech giant is planning to put more investment in the audio business to improve its technologies. In December, Harman acquired ZF’s ADAS division in Germany for 1.5 billion euros to harness an autonomous driving smart camera module.

It also purchased Marvell’s audio brand for 500 billion won. The next plan in line is to invest 131.18 million euros in Hungary to improve Harman’s automotive production base and set up a research and development center for autonomous driving software and hardware.

HBM5E plans may be pushed back as Samsung quietly shelved its mass production plans for D1d DRAM, its 10nm-class 7th-generation memory process.

Sources familiar with internal operations (via Chosun) confirmed that the management pulled the plug after reviewing D1d DRAM yield numbers that simply didn’t justify the investment. Without a stable D1d supply, HBM5E doesn’t ship.

D1d isn’t just another node; it’s the backbone of HBM5E, Samsung’s 9th-generation high-bandwidth memory. Earlier HBM generations, from HBM4 through HBM5, can lean on the more mature 1c DRAM process.

This creates a compounding problem for Samsung’s AI ambitions at a moment when the market for high-bandwidth memory is as competitive as it’s ever been. HBM is no longer a niche product, but the beating heart of AI accelerator systems.

Back in March, at GTC 2026 in San Jose, Samsung Memory VP Hwang Sang-jun told the audience that D1d would serve as the core DRAM for HBM5E.

Somewhere around 400 people assigned to the D1d mass production task force are idle.

The roadmap is now under comprehensive review. Samsung says it will keep working on yield improvement and delay mass production indefinitely until targets are met, while no timeline has been set.

Seasoned Samsung fans know that Beta 10 is almost the same as the Stable update. Meanwhile, some of our readers, especially those who participated in the Beta for the first time, are unsure whether to stay on One UI 8.5 Beta or leave.

One UI 8.5 Beta – Stay or Leave?

In simple terms, the answer is – “it’s up to you”.

You decide the software status of your device, either Beta or Stable. Samsung doesn’t have any requirement that keeps you stuck to the Beta Program. You can stay on Beta or roll back to the One UI 8.0 software version.

If you’ve installed the 10th Beta, the next update will replace the Beta status with Stable. It will be an incremental upgrade, weighing nearly the same as a security update.

On the other hand, rolling back to One UI 8.0 is also possible, but the installation of One UI 8.5 will require you to install the full OTA. Be prepared for a complete data wipe on rollback; so we recommend that you stay on Beta until Stable rolls out.

Still, if you’ve decided to jump back to One UI 8.0 right before One UI 8.5 arrives, Samsung Members is the key to leave the Beta Program. Steps are as follows:

Samsung Members > Settings > Beta program settings > Withdraw from beta program

• Open Samsung Members app
• Tap the Settings, followed by Beta program settings
• Tap “Withdraw from the Beta Program”

Once done, you should receive an update, taking you back to the One UI 8.0 version.

The Welcome Show opens with Samsung’s vision of AI as a unified system spanning personal and shared environments.

The Goodbye Show closes the loop, the same AI companion returning through music, light, and what Samsung calls “human touch.”
