Samsung is getting ready to launch the Galaxy S26 series, probably on 25 February 2026. This series includes three models – Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. The company has already started teasing its Galaxy Unpacked event, and people are curious about the cameras. But from what we know so far, the Galaxy S26 cameras may not be as exciting as some fans hope.

Reports suggest that Samsung will mostly rely on software tricks to improve photos. The Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus are expected to keep the same 50MP main camera used in previous models. This is the same sensor as before and is already considered a bit outdated.

Aside from this, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to keep the same 200MP main camera as before, but it could get an improved telephoto lens. Most of its camera hardware will be similar to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, though minor changes in the camera aperture might help capture more natural-looking photos.

Some people might say that AI and software can make up for similar hardware, and that’s partly true. Samsung can improve photos using AI features, pixel binning, and other smart tricks. It will reportedly add new camera features to enhance photography. But software can only do so much. If the sensor isn’t advanced enough to capture detail, no AI can magically create it.

It seems like the Samsung Galaxy S26 series is leaning heavily on software and AI to improve photos, rather than making big camera hardware upgrades. Fans hoping for a major camera leap may be disappointed, but the new software tools could still improve photography.

Samsung is reportedly redesigning the camera module of the Galaxy S26 series, adopting the design of its latest foldable phones. At first, the company wanted to improve the camera, battery, and design on all S26 models, but some plans were reportedly scaled back to keep prices in check.

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 Beta brings a new feature, Direct Voicemail, to make managing missed calls easier. Instead of just leaving a call unanswered, callers can record a voice message that appears directly on your phone. However, in some conditions, the direct voicemail does not work on your Galaxy phones.

Direct Voicemail

Direct Voicemail lets you decide how long your phone rings before sending a call to voicemail. You can set it anywhere from 1 to 20 seconds or trigger voicemail manually during a call.

Once the voicemail is recorded, it is saved in the contact’s history, which makes it easy to review along with your incoming, outgoing, and missed calls. You can see these voice messages in the Phone app, read a short transcription, and even improve the audio using Samsung’s Audio Eraser.

When You Can’t Use It:

While Direct Voicemail is convenient, there are some situations when it does not work. These are:

• Your phone is switched off or has no network. In this case, Direct Voicemail won’t work.
• You are already on another call. The feature cannot record another voicemail at the same time.
• You are roaming internationally. Direct Voicemail does not work outside your home country.
• Your phone storage is almost full. Messages may fail to record or save properly.
• The call is a video call. Direct Voicemail only works for voice calls.

In these situations, One UI 8.5 Direct Voicemail does not work on your Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

Samsung’s version is smarter than Apple’s Live Voicemail. It uses Galaxy AI to reduce background noise and make messages clearer. You also get control over when the voicemail is sent, unlike Apple, which decides automatically.

In a recent teaser, the company hinted that both the upcoming Nothing Phone (4a) and Nothing Headphone (a) could arrive in five different colors. That’s a noticeable shift from the more limited white-and-black approach we saw with the (3a) series, and it suggests the brand may be leaning harder into personality this time around.

The teaser itself is simple but clever. It forms the familiar “(a)” branding using dots in five colors: white, black, pink, yellow, and blue. It doesn’t explicitly confirm which product gets which shade, but it’s clear that color is going to be part of the story.

According to a previous report, the Headphone (a) could launch in white, black, pink, and yellow. That leaves blue as the likely standout option for the Phone (4a), possibly giving the mid-range device its own distinct look instead of overlapping entirely with the headphones.

Compared to the Nothing Phone (3a) lineup, which mostly stuck to safe tones (with blue reserved for the Pro), this would be a more expressive direction. It feels intentional.

Discord will begin rolling out new teen safety features globally in early March, placing all new and existing users into a teen-appropriate experience by default unless they verify they are adults. The update introduces stricter content controls, limited access to age-gated spaces, and new communication rules designed to reduce unwanted contact while keeping user privacy intact.

Under the new system, sensitive images and videos will remain blurred unless a user is age-assured as an adult. Only verified adults can access age-restricted channels, servers, and app commands, speak on stage in servers, or change message request settings. Direct messages from people a user may not know will go into a separate inbox by default, and users will see warning prompts for friend requests from unfamiliar accounts.

To unlock adult features, Discord requires age verification through one of several methods. Users can choose facial age estimation using a video selfie that is processed entirely on their device, or submit a government ID to Discord’s verification partners. Identity documents are deleted quickly, usually immediately after age confirmation. Discord is also deploying an age inference model that runs in the background to help determine whether an account belongs to an adult, without always requiring manual verification. Some users may be asked to complete multiple steps if more information is needed.

Once verified, users receive confirmation via Discord’s official account. Age status is private and cannot be seen by others, and users can view or appeal their assigned age group at any time in account settings.

Discord previously tested this “teen-by-default” approach in the UK and Australia. The company says the global rollout builds on those results. Savannah Badalich, Discord’s head of product policy, said the goal is to give teens stronger protections while allowing verified adults more flexibility, adding that teen safety remains central to Discord’s product design.

Public reaction to the change has been mixed. Some users support tighter controls around messaging and content for teens. Others are concerned about privacy and mandatory age checks. Critics note that recent security incidents show Discord has struggled to keep user data safe. A breach of a third-party support provider in late 2025 exposed government ID photos and personal information for tens of thousands of users when attackers accessed age verification and support ticket data. Discord says about 70,000 users had their ID photos exposed and that it cut off the vendor’s access and is working with law enforcement, but some reports suggest the stolen data could be much larger. Users on social forums have expressed frustration that verification photos, said to be temporary, were still stored and then leaked, raising doubts about how secure the process really is.

The update follows similar moves across the industry. Instagram already places teens into stricter content and messaging settings by default. Snapchat keeps teen accounts private and limits how they can be discovered. TikTok has expanded AI-based age detection to flag underage users. Discord is also launching a Teen Council made up of 10 to 12 users aged 13 to 17 to advise on future safety features, policies, and tools.

Toyota Connected North America, the subsidiary responsible for in-vehicle connectivity, has announced a new gaming engine called Fluorite. It’s designed specifically for automotive systems, where hardware is often less powerful than a typical smartphone or laptop.

What is Toyota’s Flourite engine?

Fluorite is written in C++ and is built to work closely with Google’s cross-platform UI framework, Flutter. That means developers can use Flutter’s Dart language and high-level APIs to build interactive experiences, including games and 3D interfaces, without needing heavy, traditional game engines.

According to Toyota, the engine is optimized to deliver strong performance even on low-end or embedded hardware. It also supports modern graphics APIs like Vulkan, which allows the system to get close to the device’s full hardware-accelerated performance. 

Fluorite also brings some developer-friendly features. It supports a hot reload system similar to Flutter, letting developers see changes within a few frames instead of waiting through long build times. The engine also supports model-based trigger areas, so artists can define touch or click interactions directly inside tools like Blender.

Why does Toyota need a game engine?

So why does a car company need its own game engine?

Toyota says the project started as an attempt to build 3D user interfaces for future vehicles. The team looked at established engines like Unity, but found them too heavy for embedded automotive systems. Licensing costs were also a concern. In the end, building a lightweight, in-house solution made more sense.

More importantly, Toyota is marketing Fluorite as a fully featured open-source engine. As a result, even if the automaker won’t work on games, it gives an opportunity to independent and enthusiast developers.

Apple may not be planning much of an upgrade for the iPhone 17e, at least if the latest leaks are to be believed. According to a Weibo leaker and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the next “e” model could end up being more of a quiet refresh than a meaningful redesign.

Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo claims the iPhone 17e is essentially the iPhone 16e with one major internal change: the new A19 chip. The leaker says there are no notable updates to the display, Face ID system, or overall hardware features.

In fact, they go as far as saying Apple hasn’t even changed the phone’s mold, which means the physical design and dimensions will remain the same.

That assessment lines up closely with what Mark Gurman is reporting. In his latest comments, Gurman largely confirms that the iPhone 17e will focus on internal upgrades rather than visible changes.

The changes are all internal

The phone is expected to run on the A19 chipset and will reportedly gain MagSafe support. The latter was missing from the iPhone 16e and was a common point of criticism from users.

Beyond the processor, Gurman says the iPhone 17e will also feature Apple’s latest in-house wireless technology, including the C1X cellular modem and the N1 wireless chip. These upgrades fit Apple’s ongoing strategy of reducing its reliance on third-party suppliers.

Design-wise, the iPhone 17e will still skip the Dynamic Island and stick to a notch-style layout like the 16e. Expect no dramatic visual changes, and likely the same screen size and overall look.

As for pricing, both Fixed Focus Digital and Gurman suggest there will be no increase. If true, the iPhone 17e will launch at the same $599 price point as its predecessor. Gurman also notes that the launch could happen soon, with one leak pointing to a February 19 debut.

The iProjector 3 Plus uses a fully sealed optical engine to prevent dust from entering critical components. This design helps maintain image clarity over long periods of use. The Huawei Pura X2 is expected to launch in China soon. The phone was initially pegged for a March debut; however, recent reports have said the launch has been pushed back to April. Now, A new leak has shared more details about the upcoming foldable.

According to tipster Experience more (体验more on Weibo), the device will feature a 7.69-inch inner display with a WQHD+ resolution. The outer display is said to measure 5.5 inches. This is a clear upgrade over the original Huawei Pura X, which came with a 6.3-inch inner screen and a much smaller 3.5-inch cover display.

The leak also claims that the Pura X2 will be powered by Huawei’s Kirin 9030 chipset. In addition to the larger displays, the foldable is expected to gain a telephoto camera, which was not highlighted in earlier leaks. Previous reports have already suggested that the device will offer high-end memory and storage options, with configurations going up to 20GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. The Pura X2 is also said to run HarmonyOS 6.1 and launch in multiple color options, including blue, black, green, orange, purple, and white.

Other leaks have suggested that the main display could feature a 16:10 aspect ratio, along with a larger outer screen. The phone is also rumored to feature a total of four cameras, including a triple rear setup with a 200-megapixel main sensor. The Model R3 comes with full Android OS and supports independent 4G connectivity through a built-in SIM slot. It covers global frequency bands and allows users to make calls, send texts, stream content, and download apps directly to the watch.

The watch includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, giving it the capacity to run popular apps such as TikTok, Netflix, and more via its built-in app store.

Snapdragon X2 Elite PCs are still a few months away from reaching users’ hands. We know that Qualcomm is betting big on it, and new benchmark results for the X2 Elite suggest the company is close to closing performance gaps with Apple.

The numbers come from early testing of a pre-production Asus Zenbook shared by the YouTube channel Hardware Canucks. Asus allowed the outlet to run a set of CPU- and productivity-focused benchmarks on a machine powered by the Snapdragon X2 Elite.

To note, the laptop is running early firmware and drivers, and the silicon itself isn’t final. So, consider these results are just a snapshot of what the chip is capable of.

Even so, the results are interesting. Qualcomm’s newest chip was tested at 31W, which puts it just 5W higher than Apple’s M5, capped at 26W in these comparisons.

Apple is still leading in single-core performance 

Despite that relatively small power gap, the Snapdragon X2 Elite managed to outperform the M5 in three out of five benchmarks, while also pulling well ahead of the first-generation Snapdragon X Elite.

For instance, the X2 Elite performed extremely well in Blender and HandBrake, completing the tasks noticeably faster than Apple’s M5. However, Apple still leads in single-core performance.

In Cinebench 2024’s single-core test, the M5 scored 200 points, while the X2 Elite topped out at 146. Apple’s chip is roughly 37 percent faster in this specific scenario, even though Qualcomm’s new silicon shows a sizable jump over the original X Elite.

In the multi-core test, however, the Snapdragon X2 Elite posted a score of 1,432, beating the M5’s 1,153 and leaving the older Snapdragon X Elite far behind.

Beyond benchmarks, there’s a big unanswered question around battery life. The YouTuber didn’t share any runtime test results, so we’re left with the official claim of 43 percent better efficiency than its predecessor. Until commercial laptops arrive with finalized software, it’s hard to say how these performance gains will translate to everyday use.

To support heavy multitasking and the ever-growing suite of Galaxy AI features, Samsung is rumored to bump the RAM up to 16GB of LPDDR5X on higher-tier models. Storage options will likely remain consistent, starting at 256GB and topping out at 1TB, though rumors suggest Samsung may officially kill off the 128GB base model across the entire S26 lineup.

Thunderobot has launched its latest Mix Pro II mini PC in China. The compact desktop system features Intel’s latest Core Ultra 200H “Arrow Lake H” processors and targets users looking for AI-accelerated performance in a small, visually striking package.

Thunderobot Mix Pro II Specifications

The Mix Pro II comes in three configurations. The base model pairs the Core Ultra 5 225H with 32GB DDR5-5600 RAM and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. The mid variant upgrades to the Core Ultra 7 255H, while the top model features the Core Ultra 9 285H with 64GB RAM and 1TB storage.

The top-tier Core Ultra 9 285H processor is a 16-core, 16-thread chip with a boost frequency of 5.4GHz and 24MB L3 cache. It offers up to 99 TOPS of AI computing power. Thunderobot supports up to 65W sustained performance in Performance Mode.

All these systems come equipped with 64GB of DDR5-5600 memory (dual-channel) and support up to 128GB via two SO-DIMM slots. For storage, these include a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD and support up to 4TB through dual M.2 slots.

What does that actually translate to? Potentially:

• Heavier ray tracing workloads
• More consistent 4K performance
• Better AI-based upscaling techniques
• Extra headroom for developers over a long console cycle

Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed that the brand is working on two variants with part numbers SM8950 and SM8975, which are tentatively dubbed Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Elite Gen 6 Pro, respectively. In a new Weibo post, the same source has revealed a few more details about the next-generation Snapdragon 8-series chips.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 to be support LPDDR6, carry expensive price tag

According to the tipster, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 (SM8950) and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro (SM8975) chips are said to be manufactured using TSMC’s advanced N2P process node, which indicates a move toward improved efficiency and higher performance capabilities compared to current-generation silicon.

Among the two, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro is described as the more advanced variant, supporting LPDDR6 memory along with a fully enabled GPU configuration and a more complete cache setup. This suggests that Qualcomm could differentiate the two processors not only by performance but also by memory standards and graphics capabilities. The higher-end version is expected to carry a significantly higher cost due to the advanced hardware configuration.

A previous report suggests that the Pro variant will be designed to power Ultra-branded phones like the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Oppo Find X10 Ultra, Vivo X500 Ultra, and so on. This chip may hit 5GHz or 6GHz of max processing speed.

This indicates that manufacturers may adopt a flexible approach depending on pricing and positioning.

Classic Look Meets Practical Tech

These new Sheen models are built around radio-controlled accuracy in Japan and China, meaning they can sync with local time signals to stay correct without manual adjustment. If the signal isn’t available, Casio says the watches will still keep time within about ±15 seconds per month. The hands and dial layout include a three-hand design with a date window. One of its standout aspects is the Tough Solar technology, which uses ambient light to keep the internal battery powered up.

So one doesn’t have to worry about replacing batteries often. This is paired with 100m (10 ATM) water resistance, meaning these watches can shrug off splashes, rain or a quick swim. Both versions feature an ion-plated stainless steel case with a rose-gold finish, lending a dressy but understated look. The dials are protected by anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal for improved scratch resistance. You also get Genuine leather straps with embossed patterns give each model a refined feel.

The Vivo V70 and V70 Elite are set to launch in India on February 19, and for the first time, the V-series is gunning for a slice of the upper-midrange performance pie. These aren’t just iterative upgrades over the V60 series.

They mark a shift in Vivo’s strategy, bringing flagship-class specs like Snapdragon 8-series chips, a 6,500mAh battery, Zeiss-branded optics, and 90W fast charging, while still staying under the ₹50,000 price ceiling.

Two models

Vivo has divided the lineup into two distinct tiers. The standard Vivo V70 runs on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. It targets performance-conscious users in the upper midrange category. In contrast, the Vivo V70 Elite debuts as the first V-series phone powered by a Snapdragon 8-series processor; the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.

Geekbench scores for the Elite show 1,973 points in single-core and 4,863 points in multi-core tests. The phone includes 12GB of RAM and will ship with Android 16 and OriginOS 6. Vivo has confirmed four years of Android OS updates and six years of security patches for the series.

Display and design

Both phones feature a 6.59-inch OLED display with a resolution classified as 1.5K. The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate, 459 PPI pixel density, and 5,000 nits of peak brightness. The front-facing camera is housed in a centered punch-hole cutout.

Vivo claims the phones have the narrowest bezels in their price segment, measuring just 1.25 mm. The design introduces a flat-edge frame and a new square camera module. The V70 will come in Passion Red and Lemon Yellow, while the V70 Elite adds Sand Beige and Authentic Black to the mix.

Cameras

Both the V70 and V70 Elite feature a 50MP main camera using the Sony IMX766 sensor with optical image stabilization. They also include a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with the Sony IMX882 sensor, supporting 3x optical and up to 100x digital zoom. The rear setup is completed by an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens.

The front camera is a 50MP unit with a 92° field of view and supports seamless zoom between 0.8x and 2x. ZEISS has co-developed all camera modules.

Vivo also adds a range of AI photography features, including AI Magic Weather, AI Audio Noise Eraser, and AI Petal Shower Portrait. The India-exclusive AI Holi Portrait will be available from February 19 to March 15.

Battery and extras

Both devices pack a 6,500mAh battery with support for 90W fast charging. Vivo includes bypass charging technology to keep temperatures lower during extended gaming and streaming sessions. The phones come with IP68 and IP69 certifications for water and dust resistance.

The V70 Elite includes an X-axis linear motor for improved haptic feedback in games and system navigation. Both models feature LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, along with a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner that works with wet fingers. The frame is made of aerospace-grade aluminum alloy.

According to Brar, the Oppo Find N6 will launch on March 17 in China as well as select global markets, including Southeast Asian markets and Europe. He has specifically mentioned that the device will not be released in India. He added that the device will be available in Titanium and Orange color options.

According to reports, the Oppo Find N6 will arrive with an 8.12-inch foldable LTPO OLED screen on the inside, with support for 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. On the outside, it will have a 6.62-inch cover display, and both screens will have 20-megapixel front-facing cameras.

Under the hood, the Find N6 will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and a roughly 6,000mAh battery with 80W wired and wireless charging support. Its rear camera setup will comprise a 200-megapixel camera accompanied by a pair of 50-megapixel sensors.

The Find N6 is also expected to arrive with up to 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, an AI-powered stylus, and satellite connectivity (only in China). The N6 is said to be thinner and lighter than its previous generation, but the exact measurements are not known yet. Is One UI 8.5 a big upgrade for Samsung devices?

The new software also improves the Photo Assist feature to allow interrupted image generation without needing to save each iteration. There are a host of other improvements to One UI 8.5, making it a well-rounded package rather than just an incremental upgrade. So, One UI 8.5 is indeed a big upgrade, which will start rolling out to older Galaxy devices a few weeks after its initial release on the Galaxy S26 series later this month.

While there is still no clarity about Xiaomi’s foldable plans this year after it skipped the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5, Vivo is expected to announce the Vivo X Fold 6 in a couple of months. A new leak suggests that it could be equipped with the best set of cameras ever seen on a foldable phone.

Vivo X Fold 6 may arrive with a 200MP camera

In the above leak, tipster Smart Pikachu claims that the Vivo X Fold 6 is being developed as the most imaging-focused foldable phone yet. He added that the device is reportedly being tested with a 200-megapixel camera and a multispectral sensor.

To recall, the Vivo X Fold 5 from last year featured a Sony IMX921 primary camera with OIS support in its rear camera setup. It was accompanied by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. The camera setup did not feature a multispectral sensor.

The multispectral sensor, which is expected to be available on the Vivo X Fold 6, will be responsible for color accuracy. At present, there is no clarity on whether the X Fold 6’s 200-megapixel camera will use a Samsung or an OmniVision sensor. It is also not known whether it will be used for the primary or periscope telephoto camera.

This time, the lineup is said to skip a standard Poco X8 variant and instead include the Poco X8 Pro and Poco X8 Pro Max models. Ahead of the expected launch, the Poco X8 Pro appears to be actively securing regulatory approvals, suggesting that the announcement could be close.

Poco X8 Pro RRA certified in South Korea

The latest development confirms that the Poco X8 Pro, which bears the model number 2511FPC34G, was approved by South Korea’s RRA platform back in December 2025. The listing identifies the device as a smartphone manufactured by Xiaomi Communications Co., Ltd., and also mentions its SAR value of 0.863 / 1.6 W/kg. While the certification does not disclose hardware specifications, such approvals typically indicate that the device is nearing commercial availability.

Galaxy S25 users finally received the much-anticipated fourth Beta update today. Starting in South Korea, it was quickly expanded to the United States, with users in India, Germany, Poland, and the UK also grabbing the OTA.

When it comes to Direct Voicemail, Samsung and Apple are circling the same idea. It’s about letting the phone handle missed calls more gracefully, without forcing users to pick up or dig through clutter later.

Though Samsung comes late to the Direct Voicemail offer, its version is smarter than Apple’s. It’s because of two advantages, including a voice enhancer powered by Galaxy AI and an auto send trigger for convenience.

Voicemail with Audio Eraser

Apple’s Live Voicemail records faithfully, but that is also the limitation. What you hear later is exactly what the microphone captured, noise and all.

Samsung’s Direct Voicemail takes a different approach, with the feature plugging straight into Galaxy AI’s Audio Eraser. The same system already used for cleaning up Gallery videos now applies to voice messages.

Samsung is reportedly planning to bring back variable aperture cameras in its smartphones. This comes after Apple announced that the iPhone 18 Pro will feature the technology. A variable aperture can change the size of the camera lens opening to allow users to control how blurry or sharp the background looks in photos.

According to a report by ETNews, Samsung has asked several camera module partners to develop and test variable aperture parts. Companies like Samsung Electro-Mechanics and MCNEX are working on producing and checking the important components.

The report says the feature is still in early development, and Samsung has not decided yet which phone it will appear in. However, there is a strong interest in bringing it back.

During the recording, the receiver will have the option to answer or end the recording. Once recorded, the voicemail will be saved in the phone associated with a contact.

How to enable

For starters, the feature will show up as a notification on the dialer app. It is now a part of the Call settings, under “Direct voicemail”.

Besides the full ring, you can manually trigger the voicemail anytime from more options on the calling screen.

You can also decide when to send the incoming calls to voicemail after ringing. You can set 5, 10, or seconds or set a custom mark from 1 to 20 seconds.

Review Voicemail

One UI 8.5 brings a new blue voicemail icon in front of the contact name. Expanding the contact detail will reveal the voicemail duration and one line of transcribed summary. From here, you navigate to the voicemail screen, and it’s pretty much like the voice transcription.

You can check the transcription, summarize the call, check the playback, and remove background audio to improve the message’s clarity. You can delete voicemails from the settings. To be mentioned, the feature requires the mobile to be connected to a network.

Samsung Display is planning to make more OLED screens for Apple’s new foldable iPhones. This shows that Apple expects strong sales for its first foldable phone.

According to information via ETNews, Samsung Display is considering investing in its A4 factory in Asan, South Chungcheong Province. The company wants to improve its equipment for making screens, which includes thin-film transistors (TFT). The final investment plan will be decided soon, and work could start in the second quarter of this year.

Samsung Display already has a special line for Apple’s foldable iPhones at its A3 factory. This line has been upgraded to make the “iPhone Fold” and can produce 15 million 7-inch foldable screens every year. Mass production of these screens is expected to begin in June. The iPhone Fold will be Apple’s first foldable phone.

Earlier reports reveal that this phone will reportedly have a 7.58-inch screen inside with a 4:3 shape and a 5.35-inch screen outside. Around 10 million units are expected to be made this year. Apple plans to release a new foldable iPhone next year, which means Samsung Display will need to make even more screens to meet demand.

Industry reports deliver great news for Samsung and Nvidia fans with the world’s first HBM4 production commencing this February for the next-gen AI chips.

According to Yonhap, Samsung will begin producing HBM4 for Nvidia AI chips after the Lunar New Year holidays. With this milestone, the Korean tech giant will become the first in the world to commercialize the new HBM.

Samsung’s HBM4 reportedly exceeds the speeds required by Nvidia. The company is utilizing a fabrication process better than its rivals. NVIDIA is set to use HBM4 memory chips in its Vera Rubin AI accelerators.

Despite steep edges, Samsung is having mid-20% share in Nvidia’s HBM4 supply. A larger portion, going beyond 50 percent, is going to SK Hynix, with Samsung is runner up, followed by the US-based memory maker Micron.

Korean outlet Hankyung reports that Samsung has secured mid-20% share for HBM4. It’s significantly higher than the current HBM3E supply, which the company trailed; therefore, it’s good to go for future partnerships.

Apple kept the iPhone 17e price unchanged, and iPhone 17e turns out to be no exception. While Chinese OEMs surrendered to climbing DRAM prices, and Samsung is under pressure, Apple keeps the iPhone prices intact.

Like the iPhone 16e, the iPhone 17e is widely expected to cost $599. This price stagnation may not just remain limited to the iPhone 17e, but expand to the forthcoming models, including the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max coming later this year.

iPhone 17e upgrades

Apple is reportedly bringing two major upgrades to the iPhone 17e this year. First, the device is getting an iPhone 17-level A19 chipset. Second, it’s getting MagSafe wireless charging support, featuring a built-in magnet.

For the last two years, Samsung has been maintaining a strategy to use a generation-old chip in its Fan Edition models. Meanwhile, Apple is bringing its best to even the affordable iPhone model, and that’s where it gains an edge.

Despite multiple rumors, the S26 series is arriving without built-in magnetic charging. Apple calls such a solution MagSafe, and the Pixel 10 upgraded to native Qi2 charging. Samsung wants Galaxy S26 buyers to own a special case.

Well, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra could launch at the same price as the Galaxy S26 series in the US. The standard model is upgrading to 256GB storage, and it could start at $799, at least stateside.

Samsung fans waiting for Apple’s MagSafe-grade native magnetic charging on the Galaxy S26 just got their answer, and it is not the one many hoped for.

A new listing has surfaced in the Wireless Power Consortium database. The Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra all appear with updated Qi 2.2.1 certification.

Qi 2.2.1 pushes wireless charging speeds higher, with the Ultra expected to hit 25W and the standard models landing around 20W. It brings Samsung closer to the upper tier of wireless charging performance.

The WPC data confirms support only for the Base Power Profile. No Magnetic Power Profile, no integrated magnet ring, nor snap-on alignment with Qi2 magnetic accessories, unless you add a case that does the job for the phone.

Apple moved to magnets years ago, and Google followed with the Pixel 10 series. Samsung has been sitting on the sidelines, and the Galaxy S26 leak suggests it plans to stay there.

Samsung appears to be prioritizing a thinner chassis and guaranteed S Pen compatibility over the convenience of native magnets. Power users will understand the logic, but they do not have to like it.

Because the Galaxy S26 lineup sticks with standard BPP coils rather than a reworked magnetic MPP setup, Wireless PowerShare should remain intact. That means you can still charge the battery of your Galaxy watch or earbuds using the Galaxy S26 phone.

Casio has introduced two new watches in its Baby-G series: BGD10KH-1 in matte black and BGD10KH-7 in off-white. These models follow the original BGD-10 series lineup that launched in November 2025 and arrive ahead of Valentine’s Day with themed colors and matching accessories. Both are priced at $89 and are now available for pre-order in the US.

Design Details

The BGD10KH-1 features a classic square digital display housed in a soft matte black resin case. Casio has added subtle pink accents for contrast. It comes with a heart-shaped off-white silicone holder that can convert the watch into a wearable charm.

The BGD10KH-7 uses a cream-colored off-white resin case and strap. It targets a more expressive and playful look with more prominent pink accents. The white model comes with a red heart-shaped holder and a pink strap, reinforcing the Valentine’s Day theme.

Casio designed both models as two-way convertible watches. The central case can be removed from the strap and inserted into the included silicone heart-shaped holder, allowing users to wear the watch as a charm.

Both models retain the Baby-G line’s shock-resistant construction and 100-meter water resistance. Each watch offers world time support for 29 time zones, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, five daily alarms, an hourly time signal, and a full auto-calendar valid through 2099. The LED backlight uses a white LED and includes a two-second illumination duration with afterglow.

Each model weighs 33 grams and uses a 42.8 x 39 x 14.7 mm resin case with mineral glass. Casio estimates a battery life of approximately three years using a CR1616 battery. The band fits wrist sizes ranging from 125 mm to 180 mm.

Xiaomi has published the official spare part prices for the Redmi Turbo 5 Max smartphone in China following its launch on January 29. The company detailed the component pricing, providing a clear breakdown of potential repair costs for one of its most performance-focused devices under the Redmi brand.

According to Xiaomi Mall, the 6.83-inch OLED display costs 560 yuan ($80.69) to replace. The battery is priced at 199 yuan ($28.68). The speaker is listed at just 15 yuan ($2.16), while the sub-board is priced at 30 yuan ($4.32). The rear wide-angle camera module is available at 85 yuan ($12.25), the ultra-wide camera at 20 yuan ($2.88), and the front-facing camera at 40 yuan ($5.76). The back cover is also listed at 85 yuan ($12.25).

As usual, motherboard replacement prices depend on memory configuration. The 12GB + 256GB variant is priced at 2,040 yuan ($294.53). The 16GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB options cost 2,140 yuan ($308.65) each, while the 16GB + 512GB motherboard is the most expensive at 2,350 yuan ($338.04).

The Redmi Turbo 5 Max debuted as the flagship model of the Turbo series and is the first smartphone to feature MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500s processor. The chipset uses a 3nm process and an all-large-core architecture designed for high-performance workloads, including 2.5K gaming. Xiaomi has also equipped the device with a 3D ice-cooling pump and its proprietary Rampage Engine to ensure consistent performance under stress.

The phone features a 9000mAh battery using Xiaomi’s Jinshajiang cell technology. It supports 100W wired charging, 100W PPS fast charging, and 27W reverse charging.

The display uses new M10 OLED material with a 1.5K resolution and supports a peak brightness of 3500 nits. It also includes 3840Hz PWM dimming and DC dimming for better eye comfort.

The phone features a CNC-machined metal frame paired with a fiberglass back panel and a turbine-inspired dual-ring light strip. It comes in Shadow Black, Ocean Blue, Auspicious Cloud White, and Sunshine Orange color options. The device carries an IP66-IP69K rating for dust and water resistance and includes an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and stereo speakers.

Researchers at MIT have found an unexpected way to make use of something electronics usually try hard to get rid of: heat. Instead of treating excess heat as a problem, the team showed that it can be used to carry out certain mathematical operations on its own, without any additional electrical power.

The work focuses on silicon structures that are only about the size of a dust particle. These structures don’t contain transistors or moving parts. Instead, they rely entirely on how heat naturally flows through solid material. According to the researchers, that flow can be shaped carefully enough to perform matrix-vector multiplication, a core operation used in many machine-learning models.

The study was led by MIT undergraduate Caio Silva, working with research scientist Giuseppe Romano. In simulations, the heat-based structures were able to carry out the calculations with accuracy above 99 percent

Here’s how it works

The key idea is that temperature differences act as inputs, and the resulting heat diffusion produces the output automatically.

To make this work, the researchers used a design approach known as inverse design. Rather than sketching the structures manually, they defined the mathematical operation they wanted and let software generate complex silicon geometries that would guide heat in just the right way. Many of these designs end up looking irregular and porous, but every feature plays a role in controlling how heat spreads. Because heat can only flow from hot regions to cooler ones, the team also had to split calculations into positive and negative parts and process them separately.

This isn’t meant to replace conventional processors. Heat moves much more slowly than electrical signals, and the structures can only perform fixed operations. But the idea could be useful in very specific situations, such as passive thermal sensing, on-chip temperature mapping, or simple signal processing that doesn’t justify extra power consumption.

As Silva noted, most electronic systems see heat as wasted energy. This work takes the opposite view and asks whether that heat can be made to do something useful before it disappears.

It’s still early research, but it offers a different way of thinking about computation, one where heat isn’t just a side effect, but part of the process itself.

Casio has officially unveiled its G-Shock Fire Package lineup for 2026, introducing the AWG-M100FP-1A1 and GW-2320FP-1A1. The Fire Package series has been a recurring annual release since 2004 and is positioned as a symbolic watch for people starting new chapters, whether entering new careers or life stages.

The AWG-M100FP-1A1 and GW-2320FP-1A1 both feature all-black finishes with special edition packaging designed for gifting. Each model uses resin and aluminum construction with 20-bar water resistance and standard G-Shock shock protection.

The AWG-M100FP-1A1 combines analog and digital displays, showing time via two hands alongside three digital windows for date, day, and world time. At 52 × 46.4 × 14.9 mm and 56 grams, it uses inorganic glass and Neo Bright luminous coating. An amber LED with auto-illumination aids low-light visibility. Tough Solar charging powers the watch for six months without light exposure, extending to 18 months in power-saving mode.

The GW-2320FP-1A1 offers a fully digital interface across three displays with a white LED Super Illuminator backlight. Measuring 15.6 mm thick and weighing 64 grams, it provides extended battery life: 11 months without solar charging or 26 months with power saving activated.

Both models include Multiband 6 radio-controlled timekeeping, syncing across Japan, North America, Europe, and China. Additional features cover world time for 48 cities, five alarms, a stopwatch, a countdown timer, and an automatic calendar. When radio sync is unavailable, accuracy remains within ±15 seconds monthly.

Japan pricing sets the AWG-M100FP-1A1 at ¥31,900 and the GW-2320FP-1A1 at ¥24,200. International release details remain unannounced.

In other news, Casio has also rolled out the all-black G-Shock GX-56UBB-1 in parts of Europe at €159, matching the older GX-56BB-1’s price. While the rugged exterior remains unchanged, the update brings a new module, an LED backlight for better efficiency, and Tough Solar power with extended battery life.

Ayaneo has been revealing bits and pieces about its handheld smartphone over the past few months. The company has now finally announced some concrete details of the Pocket Play, including its design, display, and other specifications.

As you might know, the Pocket Play doesn’t look like a typical slab phone. It uses a classic side-sliding design, and hidden inside is a full-function built-in game controller. Slide it open, and the device instantly shifts into game mode.

The front of the device is dominated by a 6.8-inch OLED display. It has no punch hole or notch to break immersion. It runs at a 2400 × 1080 resolution with 20:9 aspect ratio and supports 120Hz, 144Hz, and even 165Hz refresh rates. 

Inside, the Pocket Play is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300, built on TSMC’s third-generation 4nm process. The chip uses an octa-core CPU design paired with Arm’s Immortalis-G720 GPU. Ayaneo has also added an active air-cooling system to help keep performance stable during long gaming sessions.

Haptics and audio haven’t been ignored either. The phone includes an 0815 X-axis linear motor with four vibration modes for more nuanced feedback, along with stereo dual speakers aimed at making games and media feel more immersive.

Despite its gaming focus, the Pocket Play doesn’t give up everyday phone features. It supports full communication functions, includes a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port with DisplayPort 1.4 video output, a fingerprint reader built into the power button, and a combined SIM and microSD card slot.

Casio has released the G-Shock GX-56UBB-1 across Europe following its Japanese launch. The watch is now available through official online stores in the Netherlands, Spain, France, and Germany for €159, matching the original price of the 2016 GX-56BB-1.

The GX-56UBB-1 maintains the exterior design of the classic GX-56BB-1, retaining the large all-black case and rugged construction. Changes focus entirely on internal components. Casio upgraded the module from 3221 to 3545 and replaced the electroluminescent backlight with an LED system that offers improved power efficiency and low-light visibility.

The watch measures 55.5 × 53.6 × 17.5 mm and weighs 88 g. The case, bezel, and band are made of resin. It features shock-resistant construction and is water-resistant up to 20 bar. The display is protected by mineral glass. The resin band fits wrist sizes from 150 to 220 mm.

The GX-56UBB-1 runs on Casio’s Tough Solar system. It includes a battery-level indicator and a power-saving mode that turns off the display when the watch is left in the dark. Battery life is rated at up to 13 months under normal use without light exposure after charging, or up to 27 months when stored in complete darkness with power saving enabled.

Features include world time for 31 time zones, covering 48 cities, plus Coordinated Universal Time, with daylight saving time control. The stopwatch offers 1/100 second precision with a maximum measurement of 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59.99 seconds. The countdown timer supports up to 24 hours. The watch also includes five daily alarms, an hourly signal, and a fully automatic calendar that runs through 2099.

Timekeeping accuracy is rated at ±15 seconds per month. Casio has not confirmed if or when this model will launch in the US or other regions outside Europe.

The EV industry has reached a quiet but important milestone. For the first time, a mass-produced passenger EV is set to use a sodium-ion battery, a technology long discussed but never deployed at this scale. The car in question is the Changan Nevo A06, developed by Changan Automobile and powered by batteries from CATL.

The announcement follows extensive winter testing in Inner Mongolia, where temperatures regularly drop well below what most EVs are designed to handle. According to the companies involved, the Nevo A06 was able to charge normally at around -30°C and continued operating at temperatures as low as -50°C. At -40°C, the battery reportedly retained more than 90% of its original capacity, a level of performance that is difficult to achieve with conventional lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries.

The vehicle uses CATL’s Naxtra sodium-ion battery pack, which the company says is the first of its kind certified for use in passenger cars. The initial version has a capacity of 45 kWh and delivers a claimed range of just over 400 km on China’s CLTC test cycle.

On paper, that puts it close to entry-level LFP-based EVs, but with far better cold-weather behavior. CATL says the pack can deliver several times more power than comparable LFP batteries at sub-zero temperatures, helping maintain acceleration and cabin heating without heavy range loss.

Sodium-ion batteries have drawn attention partly because they avoid lithium altogether. Sodium is cheaper, more abundant, and less vulnerable to supply-chain disruptions. Safety is another factor: CATL says the Naxtra cells are far more resistant to thermal runaway and have passed extreme abuse tests without catching fire.

CATL describes this as the beginning of a “dual-chemistry” phase for EVs, where sodium-ion and lithium-ion batteries coexist depending on climate, cost, and use case. The Nevo A06 is expected to launch in China around mid-2026, with sodium-ion packs eventually spreading across Changan’s wider lineup.

For now, this remains a China-focused rollout. Still, it’s a clear signal that sodium-ion batteries are no longer just a lab experiment. In cold regions especially, they may soon offer a practical alternative to lithium-based EVs, without the usual compromises.

Oppo will unveil the Oppo K14x on Feb. 10 in India. Ahead of its launch, the standard Oppo K14 has been spotted at the Bluetooth SIG certification, revealing its existence for the first time. It appears that the device may debut in a month or two.

As can be seen above, the Oppo K14 and K14x have received approval from the Bluetooth SIG authority. These listings have revealed their model numbers as CPH2869 and CPH2871.

Unfortunately, the rumor mill hasn’t revealed anything significant about the standard K14 yet. Back in December 2025, the same device was approved by Singapore’s IMDA authority.

Devices that appear in the Bluetooth SIG database are known to go official within a timespan of around one month. Therefore, it may break cover as early as next month (March), and India could be one of the first countries to receive it, just like the K13 from last year.

To recall, the Oppo K13 came with a 6.67-inch AMOLED FHD+ display, a Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chip, a 7,000mAh battery with 80W charging, and a 50-megapixel main camera. It remains to be seen whether the K14 packs a larger battery than its predecessor. 

As far as the Oppo K14x is concerned, Oppo has already confirmed that it will feature an LCD panel that offers a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it is expected to pack a 6,500mAh battery with 45W charging and offer 128GB of built-in storage. It will feature a 0-megapixel main camera. The phone will come in two shades, such as Ice Blue and Prism Violet. Likely, it will cost around Rs 15,000 in the country.

The brand has confirmed that the phone will be available in black, silver, and purple shades.

Xiaomi’s experimental magnetic camera lens module might be inching closer to reality. According to recent rumors, the company has begun early manufacturing work on the detachable lens system that first appeared as a concept at MWC 2025.

The blogger Digital Chat Station recently claims that “the magnetic lens has started mass production and could be seen as early as this year (TBD).” While the post didn’t name a specific manufacturer, the most likely candidate is the modular optical system Xiaomi teased alongside the Xiaomi 15 series.

Lei Jun demonstrated the setup during Xiaomi 15 series launch event. At the time, it was described as an internal pre-research project, but it drew significant attention from both the smartphone and camera industries.

Xiaomi’s magnetic camera specifications

At its core, the system is a magnetically detachable lens built around a custom Micro Four Thirds (M4/3) sensor and an aspherical lens group. Xiaomi says it can deliver a full 100-megapixel resolution, an equivalent 35mm focal length, and a bright f/1.4 aperture.

That f/1.4 aperture should make it a low-light standout, while the classic 35mm field of view offers a perspective closer to the human eye, ideal for portraits and street photography, with more natural-looking background blur.

More importantly, Xiaomi says the modular optical system uses near-instant laser data transmission at speeds of up to 10Gbps, enabling lossless RAW transfer between the lens and the phone.

The system can also tap into Xiaomi’s AISP computational photography stack, powered by a large on-device model. The company claims this unlocks features like UltraRAW capture and up to 16 stops of dynamic range.

There’s no complicated wiring or pairing involved, and the lens doesn’t need a separate battery. It simply snaps onto the phone and is compact enough to carry around without much hassle.

If Xiaomi can deliver on its promises, the real-world experience could even outpace some traditional Micro Four Thirds setups, especially with AI-driven image processing in the mix.

The company needs to test the software and make important improvements in order quash bugs and prepare a ready-to-use build. Yet, the past three rollout progressed pretty smoothly, and the fourth isn’t. What kind of bug just hit the development cycle that’s stretching the beta timeline? Nobody knows.

Regarding this delay, a beta moderator from the Samsung Korea community said that the beta rollout schedule is subject to change based on testing. However, the moderator refrained from estimating any news regarding a new beta rollout.

The problem here is not the fourth beta; instead, it’s the delay of the final release. The moderator made that announcement in late January, and there’s no release as of the first week of February. The sudden stretch in the beta timeline is both ambiguous and frustrating from a S24 Ultra user’s perspective.

Based on previous reports, One UI 8.5 will be featured first with the Galaxy S26 series, which is scheduled to launch on February 25 (based on leaks). That means the fourth One UI 8.5 beta should be dropping next week, if not delayed any further.

The One UI 7.0 and One UI 8.0 testing and release schedule suggest that the One UI 8.5 might not get an immediate release for previous flagships, including the Galaxy S25 series, on the S26 series launch day.
