According to our local partners SEMO Cyprus and INNOSOFT, new car sales in Cyprus skid -15.9% year-on-year in June to just 1,133 units. The H1 2026 volume is now down -11.9% to 7,244. Despite a ghastly YoY fall, Kia (-36%) remains the most popular carmaker in the country, albeit by just one sale above Toyota (+19%) in outstanding shape. Newcomer BYD repeats at an all-time high #3 but smashes its volume (111) and share (9.8%) records. Hyundai (-43.8%) falls apart and #4 and Skoda (+30.6%) rounds out the Top 5. BMW (+24.4%) also shines at #6.
The Kia Stonic (-8.2%) confirms it is the best-selling nameplate in Cyprus at 5.9% share vs. 5.4% so far this year. The new BYD Atto 3 surges from outside the May Top 20 directly into a new record 2nd place, eclipsing its previous best of #3 reached last January. In fact BYD also places the Seal U at #7 and the Dolphin Surf at #11. The Renault Captur (+650%) stuns at #5 and the Toyota Yaris Cross (+81%) also impresses. The Ford Puma (+188.9%) also posts a surreal gain in the remainder of the Top 10. The Top 14 best-selling models are all SUVs.
The Leapmotor A10 is up to #3 overall for its 4th month in market.
According to data by CAAM, wholesales of Chinese-made vehicles are down -3.2% year-on-year in June to 2,810,000 units, after rising 14% to 2,904,000 in June 2025. However this includes exports. Domestic wholesales in contrast dive -23% to just 1,773,000 after gaining 10% to 2,312,000 last year. Exports surge 75% to surpass the monthly million unit mark for the first time at 1,037,000, up from 592,000 a year ago. Total sales of light passenger vehicles are down -5,.3% to 2,402,000 while commercial vehicles are up 11% to 408,000. Production is off -1.2% to 2,760,000. Sales have beenΒ affected by the withdrawal of some government subsidies and tax exemptions for new energy vehicles (NEVs) at the end of last year.
In the brands ranking, BYD (-44.3%) lodges another disastrous month, its steepest fall since last February, but stays on top for the 4th month in a row, reclaiming the YTD top spot in the process. The Sealion 05 (+10.7%), Yuan UP (+16.9%) and Song Pro (-12.3%) are the brandβs best-seller, with such blockbusters as the Dolphin (-28.2%), Qin L (-68%), Qin PLUS (-64.5%), Seagull (-68%) and Song L (-77.1%) all hitting a wall. The new Sealion 06 (16,843), Song Ultra (11,423) and Great Tang (2,451) prevent the marqueβs overall fall to be even steeper. Geely (-15.5%) also suffers but outpaces the marketβs decline. Its best-seller the Xingyuan (-18.4%) falls but stays atop the models charts, while the Galaxy sub-brand, now composed of no less than 10 models, adds up to 35,528 sales, up 56.5% year-on-year.
Toyota (-25.6%) is up to #3 for the 5th time in the past seven months, distancing a freefalling Volkswagen (-41%). Repeating at a record 5th place, Leapmotor (+61.1%) blissfully ignores the market decline and advances to an all-time high 72,376 sales. Tesla (-13.9%) follows ahead of Chery (-23.3%) and Wuling (-23%). Xiaomi (+36.4%) comes back into the Top 10 for the second time in the past three months at #9 with BMW (-32.7%), in perdition, rounding out the Top 10. Xpeng (+5.7%) is up 10 spots on last month to reach a best-ever #12, also hit in February 2025. Arcfox (+215.5%), MG (+188%), Nevo (+68.4%), NIO (+49.9%), Fang Cheng Bao (+47.6%), Denza (+31.1%) and Deepal (+18.6%) stand out below. Newcomer Shangjie breaks its volume record at 11,974. Among foreign carmakers, only Mazda (+52.9%) and Land Rover (+228.3%) are up.
Model-wise, the Tesla Model Y (-13.8%) delivers its 4th win in the past 13 months despite a sizeable YoY drop. The Geely Xingyuan (-18.4%) is down to #2 but easily remains #1 year-to-date. The new Leapmotor A10 spectacularly sells almost 25,000 units for its 4th month in market and lands on the third step of the podium. Also new, the Li i6 is up one rank on May to #4 while the Xiaomi SU7 (-12.1%) rounds out the Top 5. Another recent launch, the Fang Cheng Bao Tai 7 climbs up 4 spots to #6. BYD places the Sealion 05 (+10.7%) at #7, the Yuan Up (+16.9%) at #9 and the Song Pro (-12.3%) at #10. The Qiyuan/Nevo Q05 (+795.3%) lodges a second Top 10 finish in the past three months.Β
New light vehicle sales in the U.S. are up 7.9% year-on-year in June to 1.4 million units according to GlobalData. The Seasonally adjusted annualised rate of sales (SAAR) is up from 15.95 million a year ago in June 2025 to 16.6 million, also ahead of Mayβs 16.21 million. Q2 volumes edge up 0.6% to 4,238,996. According to JD Power and GlobalData average incentives are up 13% year-on-year in June toΒ $3,217. Incentives on non-electric vehicles are up 19% to $2,970 while incentives on EVs are up just 3.1% to $9,824. Hybrids account for 16% of the US market in June, up from 13.7% in June 2025 with EVβs share at 7.4%.
Over the second quarter of the year, General Motors (-4.2%) remains the most successful OEM in the country ahead of Toyota Motor (+1.1%). However this is GMβs third consecutive quarterly decline. Ford Motor (-10.4%) takes a big hit, but the next six manufacturers all beat the market. Notably, Nissan Group (+9.2%) and Stellantis (+5.7%) recover, with the VW Group also up significantly at +9.8%. American Honda (+8.4%) impresses while Hyundai-Kia (+3.5%) is also up.
Toyota (+2.6%) is once again the most popular marque and extends its gap over #2 Ford (-10.1%) to above 65,000 units over Q2. Chevrolet (-3.8%) is also in difficulty in third place. Nissan shoots up 10.2% in Q1 and announced it has posted 16 consecutive months of year-over year retail U.S. sales increases. Honda (+9.4%) also delivers a very solid gain, with Subaru (+6.8%), Hyundai (+4%) and Kia (+2.8%) in shape. Further down, Chrysler (+80%), Volkswagen (+24.9%) and BMW (+13%) stand out.
Model-wise, the Ford F-Series (-11%) hits a wall, as a fire at a key supplier handicapped production. The Chevrolet Silverado (-7.3%) also struggles at #2 but the Honda CR-V (+16%) confirms it is the new SUV champion in the US. Indeed the Toyota RAV4 (-24.2%) continues on its difficult generation changeover and is down to #7 for the quarter. The Ram Pickup (+14.3%) is in great shape as is the Toyota Camry (+18.5%) while the GMC Sierra (+5%) is softer. The Tesla Model Y (+2.7%) falls to #8 ahead of the Honda Civic (+8.1%) and Toyota Tacoma (+5%). Excellent performances below by the Nissan Rogue (+38.6%), Ford Explorer (+13.8%) and Honda Accord (+41.2%).
The MG HS is up to a record 4th place in Austria in June.
34,256 new cars hit Austrian roads in June, a splendid 22.9% year-on-year improvement. The YTD total is now up 15% to 164,529. Volkswagen (+5.2%) and Skoda (+15.8%) remain atop the brands charts but both trail the market. BMW (+27.8%) outpaces it slightly but itβs Hyundai (+119.4%) that delivers the biggest gain in the Top 20, up 13 spots on May to #4 with 5.9% share. MG (+79.2%) is up 11 ranks to #9 with 1,301 sales and 3.8% share. This is the first time MG crosses the 1,000 monthly sales mark (previous best 726 in June 2025), and also a record ranking (previous best #14 in December 2024) and share (previous best 2.7% in March 2025). Leapmotor (+756.8%), BYD (+105.9%), Fiat (+94.8%) and Mazda (+60.4%) also impress below.
Over in the models charts, the Skoda Octavia (+16.3%) signs a second win in the past three months but remains at #2 year-to-date below the VW Golf (stable), itself down to #6 for the month. The Hyundai Tucson (+144.5%) justifies the brandβs performance and leaps from outside the May Top 20 directly into 2nd place. It earns a YTD Top 20 ranking as a result at #15. The Tesla Model Y (-21.6%) ranks #3 but freefalls year-on-year. Record performance by the MG HS (+510.1%) scoring its first ever Top 20 finish, directly at #4. The BMW X3 (+269%) is pushed up to #5 by its new iX3 BEV variant (65% of its June volume). Outstanding performances also by the Cupra Born (+312.7%), Opel Frontera (+239.3%) and BYD Seal (+131.1%).
BMW holds 15.8% of the Luxembourg car market in June.
The Luxembourg new car market soars 22.6% year-on-year in June to 5,110 units, leading to a H1 tally up 5% to 26,526. BMW (+61%) brilliantly repeats at #1, and if last month its advantage over #2 Volkswagen (+20.3%) was just 10 units, this time its is a whopping 265 sales. BMW reaches 15.8% share, its highest since we started to follow this market monthly in 2018. Previous best wasΒ 14.4% in December 2023. BMW climbs to #2 YTD as a result. Mercedes (+6.7%) follows while Audi (+31.5%) overtakes Skoda (+2.9%) for 4th place. The rest of the Top 10 all outpace the market, with Tesla (+56.1%) the most dynamic at #10, followed by Renault (+51.9%), Kia (+45.8%), Peugeot (+35.8%) and Volvo (+23.8%).
The BYD Dolphin is the 2nd best-selling foreign model in South Korea in June.
The South Korean new light vehicle market is up by a robust 9.5% year-on-year in June to 159,348 units. This is divided into 121,289 units (+3%) for local carmakers and 38,059 (+37%) for foreigners. The H1 2026 tally is up 2.5% to 845,356, including 661,343 domestic brands (-3.7%) and 184,013 foreigners (+33.2%). Kia (+18.7%) has now been the #1 brand at home for 6 straight months, having established its dominance over sister brand Hyundai (-2.5%) in difficulty again. Kia is almost 27,000 units ahead of Hyundai YTD, which should ensure a Full Year victory. In third place for the 5th straight month, Tesla continues to shine with sales up 74.4% to 7% share and above the 10,000 unit-mark for the 4th month in a row. BYD (+2014.5%) smashes its records to #7 with 4,652 sales and 2.9% share (Previous best was reached last April at #9 with 2,023 sales and 1.3% share).
In the local models ranking, the Hyundai Grandeur (+80.4%) soars to pole position for the first time this year, dislodging the Kia Sorento (+8.1%) which remains the faraway YTD leader. The Kia Seltos (+31.1%) is up seven spots on May to #3, the nameplateβs first podium finish after 84 months in market. Its previous best was #4 hit in September 2019 and October 2024. The Carnival (-6.7%) and Sportage (-2.9%) ensure there are four Kia models in the Top 5. The Kia EV5 is the most popular recent launch and repeats at a record #13. The Tesla Model Y (+49.1%) once again obliterates the foreign models charts with over 9,000 sales. The event of the month is the arrival at #2 of the BYD Dolphin (+35 spots on last month), with the BMW 5 Series (+0.5%), Mercedes E Class (-18.5%) and GLC (-20.8%) rounding out the Top 5. BYD also places the Sealion 7 at #6 and the Atto 3 at #14.
37% of BMW X3 sales in June come from the iX3 BEV variant.
296,378 new cars hit German roads in June, a very solid 15.7% year-on-year improvement. Keep in mind June 2025 was off -13.8% on the year prior. The H1 2026 volume is up 5.8% to 1,484,393. This is to be compared with pre-pandemicΒ June 2019 levels of 325,231 sales for the month and 1,849,000 YTD. BEV sales surge 78.2% to 84,057 and 28.4% share vs. 18.4% in June 2025 and 14.6% two years ago. So far this year, BEVs are up 48% to 368,006 and 24.8% share vs. 17.7% over the same period in 2025 and 12.5% in 2024. PHEVs advance 25.8% to 32,212 and 10.9% share vs. 10% last year and are up 17.9% YTD to 163,793 and 11% share vs. 9.9%.
The Tesla Model Y ranks #3 in Germany in June.
Brand leader Volkswagen (+5.9%) trails its home market and sees its share thaw to 17.2% vs. 18.8% a year ago and 18.4% year-to-date (-4.3%). BMW (+18.6%) reclaims the 2nd spot for the first time this year, with Skoda (+23.5%) also up on rank on last month to #3. Mercedes (+5.9%) falls to #4 and is passed by BMW in the year-to-date ranking. Audi (+17.1%) also shines but is a distant 5th. Seat (+23.8%) and Dacia (+22.1%) are in great shape, with the latter hitting its highest volume since scrappage scheme-crazy 2009. Outside the Top 10, Tesla (+317.6%) and BYD (+273.7%) post surreal gains with Cupra (+39.8%) and Renault (+30.8%) also robust.Β
The Renault Twingo is already the best-selling recent launch in Germany.
Over in the models charts, the VW Golf (+10.4%) manages to increase the gap with the #2, the VW T-Roc (+1.8%) at 2.7% share vs. 2.3%. The Tesla Model Y (+361.9%) surges 23 spots on May to land in third place overall, its best performance since last March. The VW Tiguan (+18.1%) is relegated to 4th place despite a solid gain. The BMW X1 (+18.5%) is also strong at #5, with 49% of its June volume coming from the iX1 BEV variant. The Mini lineup (+59.7%) repeats at #6 ahead of the Mercedes GLC (+67.8%) and Skoda Octavia (+22.4%). The BMW X3 soars 111.7% to #10, the iX3 BEV version representing 37% of its total sales. The best-selling recent launch is the Renault Twingo (#118) ahead of the Kia EV2 (#120) and Mitsubishi Grandis (#128).
The Tesla Model 3 is the best-selling vehicle in Ireland in June with 19.9% share.
New car sales in Ireland traditionally slow down in the lead to the biannual licence plate change of July, and June volumes are down -10.2% year-on-year to just 2,187. The year-to-date tally is up 4.2% to 85,188. This month Tesla (+43.7%) suffocates the market with 35.6% share, or more than 1 in 3 vehicles sold. In fact five of the Top 6 brands vastly outpace the overall growth rate with at least double-digit gains. Mercedes (+308.3%) is the most impressive followed by BMW (+111.3%), Skoda (+56.7%) and Toyota (+51.9%). The odd one out is Volkswagen (-6.4%) at #5. Audi (+82.9%) also impresses at #9.
Like last year, Tesla manages a 1-2 with the Model 3 (+47%) in the lead at 19.9% share and the Model Y (+39.8%) at #2 with 15.7% of the market, selling over 5 times the amount of the #3, the Skoda Octavia (-1.5%). The Toyota Corolla (+87.5%) and RAV4 (+51.5%) brilliantly round out the Top 5 but are not as dynamic as the Skoda Enyaq (+462.5%), Mercedes CLA (+2050%) and E Class (+1333.3%). Leader year-to-date, the Toyota Yaris Cross (+42.9%) falls to #9 while the VW Tiguan (+81.8%) closes the Top 10.
The Danish new car market shoots up 12.8% year-on-year in June to 21,487 units. This way, the H1 volume is also up 12.8% to 101,032. BEVs account for 79.1% of the market for the month and 79.9% so far this year. Toyota (+126.6%) continues to post stratospheric gains, and distances a plunging Volkswagen (-33.1%). Tesla (+38.7%), Mercedes (+31.9%) and BMW (+22.9%) also impress and round out the Top 5. But Kia (+86.3%) is the only additional Top 10 member to beat the market. Just outside, Xpeng surges 229.5% to #11 and we welcome a new EV brand in the charts: Vietnamese Vinfast, landing directly at #13 with 2.6% share. However this is dedicated to ride-sharing and taxi firm Green SM, with private consumer sales unavailable at this stage.
Model-wise, the Tesla Model Y (+17.3%) repeats at a distant #1 for its second win this year but stays at #3 year-to-date. The Toyota bZ4X (+1175.4%) posts an extravagant YoY uptick at #2, as does the Kia Niro (+1733.3%) at #3. The Skoda Enyaq (+47.6%) is also in great shape while the Xpeng G6 (+279.1%) scores its second highest ever ranking at #5 (best is #4 in November 2024). Still leader year-to-date as it was also over the Full Year 2025, the Skoda Elroq (-71.3%) completely implodes YoY to #6. The Toyota C-HR+ is the most popular recent launch again at #9, followed by the VinFast VF 8 at #21.
7,433 new cars hit Finnish roads in June, a small 1.9% year-on-year improvement. This is enough to tilt the year-to-date volume into positive territory, albeit by just 7 sales at 36,585. Toyota (+70.6%) posts another fantastic month, climbing to 21.9% share, its highest since last October (22%). Skoda (+17.7%) overtakes a plunging Volkswagen (-35.9%) which was #1 a year ago in June 2025. Mercedes (+52.1%), Tesla (+70.4%) and BMW (+39.9%) are all on a roll below. In contrast Volvo (-20.3%) and Kia (-56.4%) implode. Excellent performances by Audi (+31.2%), Seat (+40.8%), Cupra (+173.7%), BYD (+553.8%) and Smart (+204.5%).
For the second month in a row, Toyota places five models inside the Top 6: the Corolla (+84.3%) repeats at #1 followed by the Yaris (+64.7%). The bZ4x (+3400%) surges to third place with 350 sales and 4.7% share, both records. The Yaris Cross (-15.5%) is down three spots on May to #5 and the C-HR (+108.6%) down one to #6. The Tesla Model Y (+63.7%) is once again the odd one out, this time at #4. The new Mercedes CLA (+1530.8%) continues to make waves at #6, with the VW T-Roc (+608.7%) and Tesla Model 3 (+85%) both in outstanding shape. Finally the BMW iX3 breaks into the Top 10 for the first time at #10.
The Chevrolet Groove achieves a podium finish for the first time in almost two years.
New vehicle sales in Chile advance 9.5% year-on-year in June to 26,576 units, bringing the YTD tally up 5.5% to 153,574. Toyota (+11%) holds onto the brands top spot but Suzuki (+27.4%) is getting closer in 2nd place. Hyundai (+13.2%) is at #3 ahead of a surging Ford (+36.9%) while Kia (+9.8%) closes out the Top 5. MG (+29%), Foton (+27.9%) and Changan (+24.5%) shine below. Further down, Tesla (+512.3%), Jeep (+201.8%), BYD (+126.8%), Jetour (+93.5%) and BMW (+67.1%) stand out. All in all, Chinese manufacturers hold 34.6% of the Chilean market thanks to sales up 16.2% year-on-year.
Looking at the models charts, the Mitsubishi L200 (-5.7%) is the overall best-seller again above the Toyota Hilux (-14.4%) with both models missing out on the market growth. In contrast the Chevrolet Groove (+63.3%) score its first podium finish since August 2024 while the Suzuki Fronx (+114.7%), Swift (+188.1%) and Hyundai Grand i10 (+96.6%) all post sensational gains. The Omoda C5 (+10%) delivers its best ranking since last October at #9, just as the MG ZX (+123.7%), Ford F-150 (+110.6%) and Toyota RAV4 (+105%) make themselves notice below.
The BMW iX3 breaks into the Swedish Top 10 for the first time.
The Swedish new car market is up 8% year-on-year in June to 29,759 units, tilting the H1 volume into positive territory at +0.6% to 141,851. BEV sales are up 21.3% year-on-year to 13,014 and 43.7% share vs. 38.9% a year ago in June 2025 while PHEVs gain 3.5% to 7,515 and 25.3% share vs. 26.4% last year. This means rechargeable vehicles hold a mammoth 69% share in June vs. 65.3% a year ago. Volvo (+16.6%) brilliantly doubles its home marketβs growth rate to reach 18.4% share vs. 17.3% year-to-date. It is followed like last month by Volkswagen (-5.5%), Kia (+32.8%) and Toyota (+32.1%). BMW (+23.7%) completes the Top 5 in very solid fashion. The biggest gainer in the Top 10 is however Tesla (+56.3%) up to #8. Lynk & Co (+365.9%) and BYD (+350.6%) shoot up below.
The Top 5 models all outpace the market with double-digit gains. The Volvo XC60 (+23.1%) is back in charge for the first time this year with a stunning 7% share, grabbing the YTD leadership in the process. The Tesla Model Y (+57.4%) is up one spot on last month to #2, distancing the Volvo EX/XC40 (+34.4%), Polestar 4 (+21.2%) and VW Tiguan (+50.2%). This the Polestarβs best ranking since last December (#3). Below the Volvo EX30 (-2.5%), the BMW iX3 (+3426.7%) breaks into the Top 10 for the first time, landing at a spectacular 7th place overall with 1.8% share. It ranks #22 year-to-date. The Kia EV2 (#19) is the best-selling recent launch above the Kia EV5 (#23), Volvo EX60 (#41 for its 1st month) and Mazda 6e (#42).

25,207 new cars hit Swiss roads in June, a very impressive 15.6% year-on-year uptick. The H1 volume is now up 3% to 116,548. 4Γ4 sales surge 28.3% to 13,667 and 54.2% share vs. 48.8% in June 2025 while YTD they are up 7% to 60,862 and 52.2% share vs. 50.3% over the same period in 2025. BEV registrations soar 38.2% to 6,652 and 26.4% share vs. 22.1% a year ago while PHEVs are up 42.2% to 3,432 and 13.6% vs. 11.1% in June 2025. So far this year, BEVs are up 20.2% to 27,889 and 23.9% share vs. 20.5% last year just as PHEVs gain 24.7% to 14,456 and 12.4% share vs. 10.2%.
Volkswagen (+19.9%) and Mercedes (+15.6%) both post fantastic scores atop the brands ranking, reaching 11.5% and 9.1% share respectively. Skoda (-0.4%) is stable in third place but BMW (-17.2%) freefalls at #4. Tesla (+78.6%) delivers the biggest gain in the Top 10 and gains 11 spots on May to land at #5 with 1,588 sales and 6.3% share, its best result since March 2024 (#4 with 1,934 sales and 8.2% share). Volvo (+41.6%) and Toyota (+19.4%) also shine but the best performer below is BYD (+1826.8%), stepping out of the Top 10 at #11 but breaking its volume (790) and share (3.1%) records.
Model-wise, the Tesla Model Y (+101.6%) more than doubles its sales year-on-year to post an ultra-dominant run at 5.6% share, its highest score since, here too, March 2024 (6.4%). Leader in May, the Mercedes GLC (+22.4%) is knocked down to #2 but lies at #5 YTD. The VW Golf (+46.2%) surges ahead at #3 and holds onto the YTD top spot at 2.2% share. The VW Tiguan (+8.3%) and Skoda Kodiaq (+32.5%) follow, with the Volvo EX30 (+164.8%) posting a phenomenal result at #9. The BYD Seal 6 (#51) is the best-selling recent launch ahead of the Leapmotor B10 (#76).
