Xbox CEO Brings Over More CoreAI Execs, Dismisses Some of the Old Guard to “Evolve How We Work”

A large crowd gathers inside a modern atrium with multiple levels, watching two presenters on a stage with large monitors displayed nearby.

A new report from CNBC reveals that Xbox chief executive officer Asha Sharma is bringing over more of her former CoreAI team to the Xbox side of Microsoft in an overhaul of Xbox's executive team with five new members in total, the fifth coming instead from Sharma's other previous home of Instacart. Part of the move also includes the dismissal of more of the old guard, as one moves to an advisory role, and the other leaves the company. Since Asha Sharma stepped into the role of chief executive officer of Xbox, the former CoreAI president has been establishing what […]

White Sox Look Like Legitimate Threat To Win AL Central

The Chicago White Sox, despite signing Japanese slugger Munetaka Murakami, didn’t enter the 2026 MLB season with the most lofty of expectations. The Sox were looking to establish a culture and let young players develop in a season that would serve as a building block for the future.

Through the first 45 games of the season, however, the White Sox are looking dangerous. Murakami has delivered since arriving in the Windy City, crushing 14 homers thus far, including another in Monday night’s win over the Los Angeles Angels on the West Coast.

It was going to come sooner or later,” said Murakami of his first big league double, which also came on Monday night, through interpreter Kenzo Yagi. “So I’m really happy about the result.”

It’s not just Murakami giving opposing pitchers headaches, either.

“If you see that the whole lineup now, it’s so deep,” third baseman Miguel Vargas said, who hit his seventh home run on Monday “Any guy can give you a really good at-bat, a single, an extra base hit, a stolen base. That’s our identity right now. The hustle on the bases too has been unbelievable.”

Chicago is now 7-3 over its last 10 games, and just 0.5 GB of first place in the always tightly contested AL Central.

Most shocking of all during this stretch of success, however, might be the success the pitching rotation is seeing. The Sox have gotten arguably the best starting pitching in the MLB since early April.

“You can look at the dugout and figure that out,” said starting pitcher Davis Martin, who notched his fifth win of the season on Monday. “We’re not hiding that we’re having the best time. This is a group that in Spring Training we knew we could do something cool and feel like we were building toward something.

“Obviously we stumbled out of the gate, but I think we found our stride and found who we are as a team and the personality of our team. We just have a bunch of guys that want to play for each other, guys that are playing hard and wanting to win baseball games.”

Apple’s Chip Supply Crunch Is Affecting iPhone 17 Pro Max Shipments As Customer Claims A Single Unit Couldn’t Be Found In One U.S. State

Chip supply and memory shortages is making it difficult to find iPhone 17 Pro Max units in the U.S.

The memory shortage faced by Apple can be avoided as the company can purchase DRAM quantities in bulk for a multitude of products, but one area where the Cupertino firm may continue to struggle is chip supply. As TSMC is operating at its maximum capacity by fulfilling 3nm silicon orders for AI customers, it’s adversely affecting iPhone 17 Pro Max shipments to the point that a customer who has been searching around for a flagship unit is unable to find one in a U.S. state. Low A19 Pro chip supply could also affect the second-generation MacBook Neo shipments, as Apple will […]

Australia April 2026: BYD up to #2 brand, BEVs up 157.2% to record 16.4% share

The BYD Sealion 7 ranks inside the Australian Top 10 in April.

94,049 new vehicles hit Australian roads in April, a 3.8% year-on-year increase. The year-to-date tally is now down -0.7% to 384,636. Private sales are up an encouraging 7.4% to 47,850 units, business fleets are up 2.2% to 34,898 but rentals are down -18.8% to 4,800 and government sales off -19.3% to 2,056. SUVs account for 66.1% of the market in April vs. 60.3% a year ago and 55.7% in 2025, light commercials are at 18.5% vs. 22.6% and 22%, passenger cars at 12.2% vs. 14.2% and 17.8% and heavy commercials at 3.2% vs. 3.8% in 2025. As far as country of production is concerned, China is up by a whopping 88.9% to cement its newfound leadership at 29,499 sales, followed by Japan (-18.2%) at 22,904, Thailand (-17.4%) at 15,873, South Korea (+1.4%) at 11,247 and Germany (+1.9%) at 4,438.

Petrol sales sink -30.1% to 25,399, diesel is down -21.7% to 22,414 and HEVs improve 27.1% to 18,162. The big news this month is the record share of BEVs at 16.4% thanks to sales up 157.2% to 15,459. This is compared with 6.6% in April 2025 and 14.6% last month which was a record at the time. It is all the more impressive because Tesla is weak this month. Finally PHEVs surge an even more spectacular 270.2% to 9,628 and 10.2% share vs. 2.8% in April 2025. Looking at sales by state and region, New South Wales is up 2.8% to 27,830, Victoria up 1.6% to 24,789, Queensland down -1.4% to 19,912, Western Australia up 4.4% to 10,093, South Australia up 3.6% to 6,074, Tasmania up 19.8% to 1,637, Australian Capital Territory up 16.2% to 1,392 and Northern Territory up 3.1% to 864.

There are a few striking trends at play in the brands charts. Toyota (-21.6%) continues its race to the bottom, enduring a 4th consecutive double-digit YoY loss and a 6th straight decline. The event of the month is delivered by BYD, up a spectacular 140.2% to snap the 2nd spot overall. Needless to say the Chinese carmaker breaks all its records this month with 7,702 sales and a stunning 8.2% share. Kia (+2.3%) is down one spot to #3, ahead of Hyundai (+8.2%) up two to #4. Ford (-21.6%) and Mazda (-14.3%) both struggle mightily, with the latter hitting its lowest ranking in at least 15 years.

Three Chinese brands follow: GWM (+21.8%), Chery (+89%) breaking its volume record for the 15th month in a row at 4,322 and also reaching a record share at 4.6%. MG (+18.5%) ranks #9. Mitsubishi (-23%) is kicked out of the Top 10 for the first time in at least 15 years and probably a lot more as it used to be a successful local producer here. The Chinese don’t stop there and a lot of them post record results this month. Geely (+519.1%) is inside the Top 15 and above 2,000 monthly sales for the first time, newcomer Omoda Jaecoo cracks the Top 20 at #19 with record volumes and share, Zeekr (+1634.5%) does the same at #24 and 1.1% share, while newcomer Denza breaks into the Top 30 for the first time at #28.

Looking at the models ranking, finally through with its painful generation changeover, the Toyota RAV4 (-2.1%) returns to the pole position for the first time this year. It distances the Ford Ranger (-9.2%) and a Toyota Hilux (-31.2%) clearly not helped by the new model. The Chery Tiggo 4 (+104.2%) is back to #4 and cements its third place YTD. Excellent showing for the Hyundai Kona (+34.5%), up to a splendid #4 YTD whereas its best ever ranking is #5 last October. The BYD Sealion 7 (+139.6%) is up three spots on March to #8 and the GWM Haval Jolion (+23.3%) is up one to #9. In fact BYD places five models in the Top 50: the Shark 6 (+6%) at #15, the new Sealion 8 at #30, the Atto 3 (+87%) at #40, the new Atto 2 at #41 and the new Atto 1 at #49. Other notable performers include the Geely EX5 (+271%) and #21, the new Zeekr 7X at #24, the new Geely Starray at #36 and the new Jaecoo J5 at #39.

Previous month: Australia March 2026: BYD first Chinese on monthly podium, BEVs (+88.9%) at record 14.6% share

Argentina April 2026: Market off -14.6%, BYD breaks records

First Top 20 finish for the BYD Atto 2.

The Argentinean new light vehicle market hits the brakes in April: it falls -14.6% year-on-year to 44,344 units. The year-to-date tally is now down -6.2% to 193,445. Strikingly, the Top 8 brands are all in negative. Toyota (-31.4%) implodes but repeats at #1 with 15.1% share vs. 13.4% so far this year. It is however Volkswagen (-38%) that stays #1 year-to-date with 14.1% of the market. Fiat (-19.8%) remains at #3, Ford (-11.8%) is up two spots on March to #4 and Chevrolet (-7.9%) down one to #5. Newcomer BYD is up one rank to #9 which is a new ranking record for the brand, also hitting best ever volumes (1,701) and share (3.8%). YoY gains appear outside the Top 10, notably Chery (+928.1%), Haval (+518.9%), Kia (+192%), BAIC (+169.7%) and BMW (+146.1%).

Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (-31.4%) returns to the top spot it holds year-to-date with 5.3% share, well above the Peugeot 208 (-34.3%), leader last month. The Ford Territory (+35.6%) impresses with a large YoY lift and ascends to the podium for the first time in the nameplate’s history. The Ford Ranger (-32.9%) stays at #4 while the Fiat Cronos (-42%) rounds out the Top 5 in paltry fashion. The VW Tera remains the best-selling recent launch at #6, distancing the Toyota Yaris Cross (#10), for the first time in the Top 10, and the BYD Atto 2 (#18) delivering its maiden Top 20 finish.

Previous month: Argentina March 2026: Toyota and Peugeot 208 in the lead in strongest market in 8 years

One year ago: Argentina April 2025: Renault (+114.2%), Volkswagen (+111.2%) stand out in best market in 7 years

Huawei Nova 16 series has no Ultra, Nova 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max colors leak

Huawei Nova 15 Ultra

A new set of leaks has spilled the beans on what the Huawei Nova 16 series might look like. According to a post from tipster Fixed Focus Digital, the upcoming lineup could stick with some familiar colors.

The standard Nova 16 and Nova 16 Pro are said to arrive in classic black and white, along with a blue and a gradient finish. The top-end model, however, may skip the gradient look entirely with just black, white, and blue on its helm.

Huawei Nova 16 series leak

The top model is also where things get a bit more interesting. A newer leak suggests Huawei might call it the Huawei Pura Nova 16 Pro Max, instead of the previously expected “Ultra” branding.

Fortunately, a previous report gives us an idea of what this Ultra—or now Pro Max—model might offer.

Huawei Nova 16 Pro Max Possible Specifications

A previous report from tipster Digital Chat Station revealed a prototype device in the works with a 6.84-inch 1.5K LTPO display. It’s expected to be the top-tier model in the Nova 16 series, powered by a “9-series flagship processor,” which likely means a Kirin 9000-series chip, along with a battery that could land around 7000mAh.

As for the camera, the device is said to include a 50-megapixel main sensor in the 1/1.3-inch range, paired with a 50MP periscope telephoto lens and a multispectral sensor. Wireless charging is also reportedly part of the package.

For context, the Huawei Nova 15 series launched late last year with Kirin 8020 and 9010S chipsets, starting at 2699 yuan. The Ultra variant stood out mostly for its dual “red maple leaf” design, rather than major hardware changes.

Like most early leaks, none of this is final. Names, specs, and even the overall direction could change before Huawei makes anything official.

Samsung closes historic chapter with $8 billion inheritance tax

Samsung family has now fully settled the $8 billion inheritance tax tied to the estate of late Chairman Lee Kun-hee, wrapping up a multi-year obligation that reshaped both the company’s leadership era and its public image.

Roughly 12 trillion won, or about $8 billion, has been paid over five years through six installments. The process began in 2021 and quietly concluded this year. The amount is about 50 percent higher than Korea’s entire inheritance tax revenue in 2024.

The payments were handled by the late chairman’s immediate family, including Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, along with Hong Ra-hee, Lee Boo-jin, and Lee Seo-hyun.

For Samsung, this was never just about clearing dues. It was about stabilizing ownership, maintaining control, and ensuring a smooth transition at the top of one of the world’s most influential tech conglomerates.

Parallel to these payments, the family committed around 1 trillion won to public welfare, particularly in healthcare. A major portion went into building Korea’s first dedicated infectious disease hospital through the National Medical Center.

Winners and losers of F1 Miami grand prix

The fifth edition of the Miami Grand Prix gave Formula 1 another chaotic and competitive weekend around Hard Rock Stadium. The race started three hours earlier than planned because of weather concerns, but the change did not reduce the action on track. Kimi Antonelli turned pole position into another victory, even after losing the lead on the opening lap, while early incidents involving Pierre Gasly and Isack Hadjar reshuffled the field. The result was a race that produced clear winners, painful losers, and another strong reminder that Miami has become one of the calendar’s most unpredictable stops.

Antonelli’s win stood out because it was built on control rather than a perfect start. The Mercedes driver again struggled off the line, but he recovered with a strong strategy call and held off pressure from Lando Norris to win. That made it his third straight Grand Prix victory from pole, a rare sequence in Formula 1 history. McLaren also left Miami with real momentum after Norris and Oscar Piastri both finished on the podium, while Williams, Alpine, and even the broader championship picture all found reasons to leave encouraged. On the other side, Ferrari, Red Bull’s second seat, Audi, Aston Martin, and George Russell all had weekends that exposed problems they still need to solve. Miami was not just a race winner’s story. It was also a weekend that showed which teams are building form and which ones are still fighting for answers.

Kimi Antonelli won the Miami Grand Prix and extended his championship lead to 20 points. He started from pole, lost the lead early, and still recovered to finish first by using a strong undercut and clean race management. The Mercedes driver became only the third racer to win his first three Grands Prix consecutively, joining Damon Hill and Mika Hakkinen. That makes his Miami result another major milestone in a sophomore season that is starting to look like a title fight.

Antonelli also showed more maturity under pressure, especially with Lando Norris close behind in the final stint. He said, “I think I feel much more comfortable in the car, much more in control as well.” His pace and composure gave Mercedes another clear win. Even with the start issues, he is proving he can still deliver when the race gets tense.

Franco Colapinto, Alpine

Apr 30, 2026; Miami Gardens, FL, USA; Alpine driver Franco Colapinto (43) arrives to the paddock area at Miami International Autodrome. Mandatory Credit: Sam Navarro-Imagn Images

Franco Colapinto had his best weekend in Formula 1 so far. He qualified eighth, beat teammate Pierre Gasly for the first time this season, and finished seventh after Leclerc’s penalty promoted him one place. For Alpine, that was a strong sign that the upgrades may have worked and that the team can fight in the midfield.

Colapinto drove a clean race and avoided the mistakes that hurt several others around him. He made the most of Alpine’s improved pace and a lighter chassis. It was also a confidence-building result for a driver who has faced criticism since replacing Jack Doohan. The weekend gave Alpine proof that progress is possible when both pace and execution come together.

Lando Norris, McLaren

Lando Norris left Miami with a win in the Sprint and second place in the Grand Prix. That was a strong return for McLaren, especially because both drivers stayed in the podium fight across the weekend. Norris also pushed Antonelli hard in the closing stages and kept the pressure on until the flag. The result helped McLaren strengthen its position in the championship and close the gap to Ferrari.

Even so, his pace and consistency showed that McLaren’s upgrade package is working. With Oscar Piastri also on the podium, the team left Miami with a clear step forward. It was not the victory Norris wanted, but it was still a major positive.

Losers of the Miami Grand Prix

Charles Leclerc, Ferrari

Charles Leclerc had one of the most frustrating Sundays of the race. He started strong, took the lead on lap one, and then lost ground after another slow Ferrari pit stop. He still fought back into third before a final-lap spin damaged his race completely. After the stewards gave him a 20-second penalty, he dropped from sixth to eighth in the final classification.

Leclerc said after the race, per SI, “I’m very disappointed with myself, it’s all on me.” That was a harsh end to a race that had once looked like it could produce a podium. Ferrari’s car showed some pace, but the execution again let the team down. If the team wants to stay in the title picture, it needs cleaner stops and fewer self-inflicted errors.

Isack Hadjar, Red Bull

Isack Hadjar’s Miami weekend ended in another early exit. He crashed into the wall at Turn 14 and finished the race as a retirement, adding to a difficult start to life alongside Max Verstappen. The Red Bull driver had already been off the pace in qualifying and sprint qualifying, and the race only confirmed how much work he still has to do. His crash also removed any chance of a useful result.

Hadjar admitted the mistake was his own, and the emotion was visible after the incident. His season has brought only four points from six scoring chances, which is not enough for a Red Bull seat under normal standards. The team will be hoping this is a learning weekend rather than a pattern. For now, the gap to Verstappen remains a major concern.

Aston Martin and Cadillac

Aston Martin and Cadillac both left Miami with more questions than answers. Aston Martin’s best result came from Fernando Alonso in 15th, while Lance Stroll finished 17th in both the sprint and the Grand Prix. Cadillac was more reliable, but both cars still finished outside the points in 16th and 18th. For teams at the back, that is not enough when others are making clear progress.

The future aspect is simple: both teams need more pace before the season slips away from them. Cadillac in particular is still early in its project, but slow progress will not help build momentum. Aston Martin, meanwhile, needs a stronger response after another flat weekend. The data from Miami may help, but the results do not.

George Russell, Mercedes

May 3, 2026; Miami Gardens, FL, USA; Mercedes driver George Russell (63) before the Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix at Miami International Autodrome. Mandatory Credit: Sam Navarro-Imagn Images

George Russell came into the season with championship expectations, but Miami was another weekend where he trailed Antonelli. He qualified and raced well behind his teammate, and the gap was clear throughout the event. Russell did recover to fourth after Leclerc’s late problems, but he was never a real threat to the win. That is a concern because Mercedes expects both cars to challenge at the front.

Russell’s problem is not one race, but a pattern. Antonelli has now beaten him in every Grand Prix qualifying and race since Australia. The Miami result made the gap in the standings even harder to ignore. He will need a stronger response in Canada if he wants to stay close in the title fight.

Audi, especially Nico Hulkenberg

Audi had a weekend full of reliability problems and no points to show for it. Nico Hulkenberg’s car suffered issues across the weekend, including a first-lap retirement in the Grand Prix after a fire in the sprint and more trouble in qualifying. Gabriel Bortoleto also had a rough weekend, finishing outside the points despite a better Grand Prix result than qualifying suggested. The team is still learning, but the losses are piling up.

Hulkenberg called it a “proper character building weekend,” which fits the overall picture. Audi says it is playing the long game, but long-term plans still need cleaner race weekends. If the team cannot finish sessions and races, it cannot make real progress. Miami showed the work still ahead.

Conclusion

Miami delivered a race full of movement, mistakes, and momentum shifts. Antonelli proved again that he can handle pressure, McLaren made a clear step forward, and Colapinto gained real confidence. At the same time, Ferrari, Red Bull’s second seat, Audi, and others left with unfinished work. The season is still open, and Canada now offers the next chance to change the story.

Red Sox reactions: Offense goes 0 for 11 with runners in scoring position, leaves 13 men on base in loss

BOSTON — Instant reactions from the Red Sox‘ 3-1 loss in 10 innings to the Houston Astros on Sunday:

1. The Red Sox dropped to 13-21 while the Astros improved to 14-21. Houston took the three-game series, 2-1.

2. With the bases loaded and no outs in the 10th inning, Red Sox reliever Zack Kelly got Jose Altuve to ground into a 6-2-5 double play. Catcher Carlos Narváez was able to record the force-out at third because runner Isaac Paredes didn’t break for third base on contact.

It appeared the Red Sox might have escaped a huge jam. But Kelly then walked Brice Matthews to reload the bases and gave up a two-run single to Cam Smith that put the Astros ahead 3-1.

3. Boston loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning. But Ceddanne Rafaela grounded into a 6-3 double play to end the game.

4. The Red Sox offense struggled again, going 0 for 10 with runners in scoring position and leaving 11 runners on base through nine innings. It finished 0 for 11 with 13 left on base.

5. Red Sox starter Ranger Suárez was removed after four scoreless innings and 70 pitches due to right hamstring tightness. The 30-year-old lefty allowed three hits and one walk while striking out three.

6. Suárez lowered his ERA to 2.77 over seven starts. He is coming off one of the best starts of his career, throwing 8 scoreless innings and striking out 10 in a win over the Blue Jays last Monday. He has not allowed a run in four of his past five starts and has held opponents to a .197 batting average.

7.Daniel Johnson tried to lay down a sac bunt against closer Aroldis Chapman in the ninth inning, but Caleb Durbin threw to second base for the force-out. Christian Vazquez had led off the inning with a single up the middle. Pinch runner Yainer Diaz replaced him and was out at second on the bunt attempt for the first out.

8. Jarren Duran put the Red Sox ahead 1-0 with a 111.8 mph, 376-foot line drive home run to right field in the fifth inning. He has two home runs in three games during May after hitting one home run in 26 games during March/April.

9. The Astros tied the game 1-1 in the sixth inning on Brice Matthews’ 256-foot line drive to left field that Jarren Duran threw off-target to the plate. However, catcher Carlos Narváez fired down to third base to throw out Jose Altuve trying to tag from second to third base.

10. With runners at second and third base and two outs in the third inning, Andrew Monasterio laid down an excellent bunt — but third baseman Isaac Paredes made a bare-handed grab and fired across the diamond for the third out.

11. Wilyer Abreu had a tough day at the plate. He struck out swinging for the second out of the third inning with runners on second and third base. He also struck out swinging with a runner at third base and two outs in the seventh inning.

12. Willson Contreras just missed a go-ahead solo home run in the seventh inning. He hit a double with a 110.5 mph exit velocity off the top of the Green Monster.

13. Lefty reliever Jovani Morán recorded two important outs in the seventh inning. The lefty has a 2.33 ERA while holding opponents to a .152 batting average in 19 ⅓ innings.

14. The Red Sox will play three games in Detroit beginning Monday at 6:40 p.m. ET. Left-hander Payton Tolle (0-1, 3.38 ERA) will start for Boston opposite Tigers ace Tarik Skubal (3-2, 2.70 ERA).

Charles Leclerc Hit With Huge Penalty After Miami GP Stewards Rule Against Ferrari Driver

The stewards at the 2026 Miami Grand Prix have handed Charles Leclerc a 20-second post-race time penalty, ruling that the mechanical damage his Ferrari sustained on the final lap did not justify the multiple occasions he left the track and gained an advantage.

After glancing the left-hand side of his Ferrari against the wall on the last lap, Leclerc was left unable to negotiate right-hand corners properly and ultimately finished sixth, costing himself what he acknowledged would have been third or fourth place.

The stewards’ document, issued at 17:21 local time on May 3, confirms that Leclerc’s car spun at Turn 3 on the final tour, hit the wall, and continued. According to the ruling, Leclerc himself reported to the stewards that the damage forced him to cut chicanes rather than negotiate them normally. The stewards’ conclusion was that the mechanical condition was not sufficient justification for repeatedly leaving the circuit and benefiting from it, in breach of Article B1.8.6 of the FIA F1 Regulations.

The penalty is a drive-through converted to 20 seconds added to his elapsed race time.

A five-second penalty would not have changed his classified position, but the 20-second sanction is enough to drop him below Ferrari teammate Lewis Hamilton into eighth.

The Stewards Considered the Unsafe Car Question Too

The document also reveals the stewards examined whether continuing to race with a mechanically compromised car constituted a separate offence in its own right. They found no evidence to support that charge, so no additional penalty was applied on those grounds. It was a narrow escape on that front. Three separate post-race investigations had been opened against Leclerc, covering the track limits breach, the unsafe car question, and an allegation of causing a collision with George Russell.

Leclerc himself had already been forthright after the flag, telling media he had put “a very strong race in the bin” in the space of four corners.

“It’s all on me. I don’t have much to add other than that. Very disappointed with my mistake. It shouldn’t happen.

“I pushed very hard in the second-to-last lap. I thought I was a good idea to let Oscar go for me to get the Overtake. I knew it was going to be very difficult to get in front otherwise.

“It was a very poor decision and in the space of four corners I put a very strong race in the bin. I am very frustrated about that. Not much more to say.”

Kimi Antonelli took the race win for Mercedes, with Lando Norris second and Oscar Piastri third, the entire 57-lap contest completing without rain disruption after the start was brought forward to avoid incoming storms.

Antonelli’s third consecutive victory from his first three race weekends of the season is the story of this championship right now. For Leclerc, Miami is a race that will be filed under “what could have been” for a very long time.

Martin Brundle Defends Charles Leclerc as Ferrari Driver Heads to Stewards After Miami GP Mistake

Charles Leclerc‘s final lap at the 2026 Miami Grand Prix was not a tidy one. After clipping the wall and limping around with a damaged Ferrari, he lost fourth place to both George Russell and Max Verstappen in the closing moments. He now faces a stewards’ hearing that covers multiple alleged offences simultaneously.

The stewards confirmed they will investigate Leclerc for continuing to race in an unsafe condition.

On top of that, he is separately under scrutiny for making minor contact with Russell on the final lap and for leaving the track multiple times and allegedly gaining an advantage. That is three investigations from one chaotic last tour of the Miami International Autodrome.

Sky Sports F1‘s Martin Brundle wasn’t ready to throw Leclerc under the bus for any of it.

“He got it home didn’t he. He had four wheels on it, all pointing roughly in the right direction,” Brundle said. “You can’t just go ‘I bumped the wall, I will park it and get out of the way’. George Russell’s car was every bit as unsafe and he carried on.”

The Wider Stewards’ Queue Is Long

Leclerc isn’t the only one with explaining to do after Miami.

Russell has been noted for moving under braking, while the Russell-Verstappen contact in the latter stages of the race is also under investigation.

Verstappen is also under investigation for supposedly crossing the white line at the pit exit after his stop, a four-time world champion who had already spun on the opening lap and fallen down the order, with FIA officials set to take a closer look once they had more information from the full 57-lap race distance.

The Russell-Leclerc contact happened at Turn 17 on the last lap, the same corner where Russell then squeezed past to snatch fourth. Whether the stewards view Leclerc’s battered Ferrari as a genuine safety hazard or as a car that was damaged but still under reasonable control will be the core question. And Brundle’s point about Russell continuing in a similarly compromised state will be hard for the stewards to ignore when making that call.

Leclerc had hit the wall and was visibly limping around in those final laps, which is precisely why he became such easy prey at the end. The argument that a damaged car should always be parked is a reasonable one on paper. In practice, F1 drivers nurse battered machinery home regularly, and the line between “unsafe” and “damaged” has always been a judgment call. Sixth place 0 where Leclerc ultimately wound up – beats a retirement.

Whatever the stewards decide, the real headline from Miami still belongs to Kimi Antonelli, who won the race for Mercedes ahead of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. The rest was paperwork.

FIA President Confirms F1 V8 Return – With or Without Manufacturer Approval

The 2026 Formula 1 season is four rounds old and already the sport is planning its escape from it. FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem used the Miami Grand Prix weekend to confirm what many in the paddock had been expecting: V8 engines are coming back to Formula 1, and the manufacturers don’t really get a veto.

“It’s coming, oh yes, it is coming. At the end of the day, it’s a matter of time. In 2031, the FIA will have the power to do it, without any votes from the power unit manufacturers,” he told reporters, per Reuters.

The V8 was ditched for a V6 turbo-hybrid in 2014 , a decision driven by the automotive industry’s push toward electrification and a desire to attract manufacturers like Audi and Honda.

The 2026 ruleset deepened that commitment with a near-50:50 split between combustion and electric energy, which has significantly changed the racing with battery management being key. The result has been messy enough that just four rounds into the 2026 campaign, tweaks have already been made to reduce the reliance on energy harvesting and increase safety.

The V8 Timeline Is Already Set

Ben Sulayem’s target is 2030 – one year before the current engine regulations reach their formal end. The math on how that happens is pretty basic. A change can be made for 2030 if a super-majority of four of the six manufacturers vote in favour. Otherwise, the FIA can force through the switch for 2031.

Ben Sulayem claims the manufacturers are broadly on board, though he’s comfortable either way.

“You will hear about it very soon. It will not be something like now, which is a 46-54 split. There will be very minimal [electric] power,” he said. The new V8s would retain some electrification – just nowhere near the current formula’s near-equal weighting between combustion and battery power.

Why V8 and not V10? Ben Sulayem has an answer.

A return to V10 engines has been ruled out, mainly because they are no longer relevant to road cars. He described the V8 as “the most popular and easiest to work with,” adding that its sound is incredible while the mechanics of it isn’t overly complex, and it’s of course a lighter option of engine.

After his V10 idea was dropped last year, Ben Sulayem outlined an idea to move to V8s in 2029 or 2030 instead, with more standard components and sustainable fuels as the point of appeal for engine manufacturers.

The FIA president was blunt about what happens if manufacturers drag their feet. “I’m targeting 2030. One year before the maturity [of the regulations]. It will happen. But let’s say the manufacturers don’t [vote for it], then one more year and it will be done. It’s not a matter of, ‘Do I need their support?’ No, it will be done. V8 is coming.”

Why the Manufacturers Are Less Opposed This Time

The automotive industry is no longer so keen on fully electric cars, and F1’s engine suppliers are now open to the idea of increasing emphasis on combustion power once again.

That’s a big change from just a year ago, when Ben Sulayem raised the idea of V8s returning to F1 but manufacturers were not in favour, particularly with it being so close to the changes for 2026, so the concept was put on the backburner.

Talks are already underway about the 2027 power unit regulations, with a move towards a 60-40 split between combustion and electric power being mooted ahead of the next full rules change in 2031.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has also identified cost-cutting and weight reduction as priorities for the next cycle of rules, and there is alignment between F1 and the FIA that the engine needs to be simpler and more traditional, while still retaining enough appeal for engine manufacturers.

The 2026 regulations were designed to make F1 relevant to an industry sprinting toward electrification. That industry has since changed its mind, and the FIA is using that reversal as cover to do what Ben Sulayem wanted to do all along. Whether he gets it done in 2030 or 2031 is almost beside the point. The V6 hybrid era has a confirmed end date, and the sound you remember from 2006 to 2013 is scheduled for a comeback.

Red Sox reaction: Boston falls behind early, can’t catch up

BOSTON — Instant reactions from the Red Sox’ 6-3 loss to the Houston Astros Saturday at Fenway Park

1) The Red Sox fell behind (4-0) by the fourth inning and never could catch up. That’s been a pattern too often this season, as the Red Sox have not won a game all year in which they’ve trailed by two runs or more. The Sox chipped away with a run in the fifth and two more in the seventh. But they also frittered away numerous chances. From the third inning through the seventh, the Sox twice left two runners on base and twice left them full — that’s 10 runners stranded over the course of four innings. The loss dropped the Sox to 1-4 against Houston this season.

2) Starter Connelly Early had the worst start of his young career, allowing five runs in just four innings of work. Three walks didn’t help. This marked the first time this season that Early had given up more than three runs in an outing, as the rookie lefty has been the most dependable starter in the Sox’ rotation. But not on this day. After seemingly settling down in the second and third, when he retired six of the seven hitters he faced, the fourth inning was a disaster as the Astros sent eight hitters to the plate and scored four times.

3) One way or another, Early has to figure out a way to be more efficient with his pitches. He has a history of having his pitch count escalate, to the point that he had only completed six innings in two of them. Some of the inefficiency is a matter of opposing hitters fouling off a lot of pitches, but some of it is on Early, too, who could stand to be more aggressive within the strike zone. When he left after just four innings, he had thrown 77 pitches.

4) It’s not like the Red Sox didn’t have their chances. Houston starter Spencer Arrighetti walked two in the third and two more in the fourth, but the Sox wasted both opportunities. Through the first four innings, they were 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. The Red Sox squandered a golden chance in the third inning, loading the bases with one out on a single by Ceddanne Rafaela and walks to Caleb Durbin and Jarren Duran. Willson Contreras had a chance to give the Sox a big inning, but, with a 1-and-1 count, hit into an inning-ending double play. Contreras has been one of few consistent hitters in the Red Sox lineup, with an OPS of .939 since April 1. But in a big spot, he wasn’t able to come through.

5) If nothing else has come out of the first two games of the homestand, the Sox are seeing much better at-bats from Roman Anthony, with hope that he’s pulling out of his season-long skid. Anthony had three hits Friday for the first time since Opening Day and Saturday, added a walk and slashed a hard single to the opposite field in the fifth when the Sox finally got on the scoreboard. It would be a huge step forward if Anthony began to produce the way the Sox had hoped.

6) It’s an open question how long the Red Sox intend to stick with Ryan Watson. A Rule 5 selection for the Sox last winter, he’s managed to eat some innings, but not always with good results. He took over in the fifth for Early and allowed a long home run to Christian Walker. He contributed three innings and allowed three hits (including a double and the homer) and a walk. That left his ERA at 6.10 for the season and opposing hitters are batting better than .300 against him. Of course, the Sox can’t just option him to Triple A; as a Rule 5 pick, he either remains on the active roster (or IL) for the season, or has to go through waivers and offered back to his original team.

7) All these years later, two Astros with ties to the 2017 sign-stealing scandal in Houston are not forgiven in Boston. For the first two games of the series, both shortstop Carlos Correa and second baseman Jose Altuve were roundly booed each time they were announced in the lineup or stepped into the batter’s box.

8) The final game of the series — and the final meeting between the two teams this season — will take place Sunday at 1:35 p.m. The Red Sox will send LHP Ranger Suarez (2-2, 3.09) to the mound against a pitcher to be determined from the Astros.

Red Sox plan calls for Brayan Bello to make next start, but perhaps with aid of an opener

BOSTON — The Red Sox have listed Brayan Bello as their probable starter Tuesday in Detroit, ending, for now, speculation that Bello’s spot in the team’s starting rotation was in jeopardy.

But interim manager Chad Tracy added that the team could conceivably use an opener before Bello serves as the bulk pitcher in the second game of the upcoming series with the Tigers.

“We are discussing the possibility of leveraging an opener in front of him,” said Tracy. “But a lot of that is contingent on how we use our bullpen the next couple of days (as we) try to get a couple of wins. It’s going to be Bello’s day to take down the bulk of the innings, but we’re going to discuss that.”

Tracy then explained the benefits of using an opener in front of Bello, who has a 9.12 ERA and has pitched into the fifth inning just twice in his first seven starts this season.

“If we do it, (the Tigers) tend to have some lefties up at the top (of the lineup),” said Tracy. “So they can change it around and get more righties into the lineup, possibly. But it also pushes him down to where when, third time through, maybe it’s in a section of the lineup we can push him through a little bit.

“The big thing, if we do that, is it for the benefit of the Red Sox and can we help get Bello on track? He’s aware; we’ve talked to him a little bit about the possibility. We also told him to be prepared to start if that comes up. But we haven’t made that call yet. It depends on how we go about the next couple of days.”

Tracy said Bello has been told of the contingency plan and is on-board with trying something different.

“I think he’s open right now to doing whatever to get himself on track,” said Tracy. “I think to doing whatever it takes to help our team win. He’s frustrated, too. But Brayan will be fine. If you watch and really look at the outing last time, there was 2.2 (inning) where it really looked like vintage Bello. It’s 96 mph and it’s sink. There’s a lot of quick outs and he’s looking good. A couple of guys get on and he lost the zone a little bit. So, I think I saw glimpses in that outing where he was very close to turning in a solid outing. But we have to get him over that hump.

“Seeing the velocity back up, the other day, that was encouraging to me. I was watching and there was a lot of 96 mph. If he’s got that sinker, he’s usually in good shape. But I still, again, think, there were glimpses where he takes down pockets of hitters fairly easily. We just have to get him over the hump. A lot of it the other day was maybe getting a little tentative with some people on base. If we can keep him on the attack, he’s still capable.”

Tracy dismissed any suggestion that Bello could be pitching to retain his spot in the rotation in his next start.

“We haven’t even discussed that right now,“ said Tracy. ”We’re trying to find ways right now to get Brayan Bello to be Brayan Bello, and right now, that’s all we’re focused on.”

The Sox are officially undecided about their starter for the final game of the series, but Sonny Gray, currently on the IL with a hamstring strain, remains an option.

“We’re looking at Sonny,” said Tracy, “but he still has a couple of boxes to check today. Also, he has a bullpen tomorrow and we’ll see how he comes out of that physically and then we’ll make our decision on that day as it gets closer.”

If Gray doesn’t make the start Wednesday, the Red Sox could turn to rookie lefty Jake Bennett, who made his major league debut last Friday.

Red Sox’ Trevor Story, Ceddanne Rafaela ‘will’ talk after outfielder threw up hands; ‘We’ll handle it’

BOSTON — The cameras caught Red Sox center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela raising his hands in frustration after firing a throw to shortstop Trevor Story during Boston’s 6-3 loss to the Astros on Saturday.

The play happened during Houston’s four-run rally in the fourth inning.

Rafaela fielded Jose Altuve’s double off the center field wall with no outs. His strong, on-target throw reached Story on one bounce. But Story had positioned himself a couple feet off the bag toward the outfield and couldn’t make the tag on Altuve. That’s when Rafaela made the gesture.

Story said he has not yet spoken with Rafaela about it.

“Nah, nah, but we will,” Story said.

Story wouldn’t say how he felt about Rafaela’s reaction to the play.

“We’ll keep it between us,” he said. “We’ll keep it between us and that’s what I think good teams do. We’ll handle it.”

This marks the second visible display of frustration by Red Sox players in three games. On Wednesday in Toronto, starting pitcher Brayan Bello repeatedly shook his head side to side while interim manager Chad Tracy walked to the mound to remove him with two outs in the fourth inning.

When Bello returned to the dugout, he was seen pacing, talking to himself and continuing to shake his head. He also pounded his fist down on the railing in front of the dugout after reliever Greg Weissert allowed a two-run home run that made it 5-1 Blue Jays.

Asked if the Red Sox need to show better body language, Story defended his teammates.

“I mean, there’s a human aspect to it and there’s an emotion side to this game and to kind of everything that’s gone on,” Story said. “That’s part of being a professional. You learn ways to handle those things, and I think it’s as simple as that. You’re not going to catch me talking bad about any of my teammates.”

Rafaela declined an interview request before Sunday’s game.

“Trev and Raf are handling that between themselves,” Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy said Sunday morning. “They’ll be fine. There are things that happen in the course of a 162-game season that things like that happen. Emotions, righty? You’re trying to get our team on track. Water under the bridge. Those two will take care of it.”

The Red Sox dropped to 13-20, again being unable to capitalize with runners on base. Boston hitters went 2 for 9 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.

“We had some opportunities, some very good at-bats to get the traffic on and just didn’t get it done in our opportunities today,” Story said. “And I felt like we got down a little early and fought our way back in the game. I felt like the at-bats were so good and a couple hard outs and then we got even some more traffic out there and kind of cashed in late. But the opportunities with runners in scoring position, we had our fair share tonight. So we just didn’t get it done.”

Story delivered an RBI single in the seventh to cut the Red Sox’ deficit to 6-3. But he failed to come through in a big spot earlier in the game. He popped out to first base with the bases loaded for the final out of the fifth inning.

The 33-year-old is batting .208 with a .245 on-base percentage, .300 slugging percentage and .545 OPS in 32 games (139 plate appearances).

“I just haven’t found the rhythm on a consistent basis that I’m looking for,” Story said. “And this is a tough game. You gotta find a way to get it done. Whether it’s about the times you’re not feeling good and you scrap out a hit or you scrap out a walk or put down a bunt or find a way to help the team when you’re not being the player that you know you can be. So similar to last year. And I’m confident that I’ll get it rolling like I did last year.”

Carlos Sainz Lets Rip at Max Verstappen After Miami Grand Prix Close Call

Carlos Sainz has been a man under pressure all season. Williams is running at the back of the midfield, Sainz’s two points are the only ones the team has scored so far in 2026, and Miami wasn’t exactly the clean weekend the team needed. It got messier when Max Verstappen got involved.

During the early section of the race, a near-miss between Sainz’s Williams and Verstappen’s Red Bull prompted an immediate angry response on team radio. “What the f*** was that?” Sainz demanded. His engineer Gaetan replied simply: “We’ll report.” That wasn’t enough for Sainz, who made his feelings clear: “I think he pushed me off. He thinks he can do whatever he wants just because he’s racing in the midfield.” Gaetan’s response, “That’s a long race, a long race,” was about the most diplomatic thing said between them all afternoon.

Verstappen in the Midfield Is a Different Animal

Verstappen has said Red Bull halved the gap to the leading pack with the upgrade package it brought to Miami, but the three-time world champion is still nowhere near where he’s used to racing. He called the new 2026 cars “anti-racing” and likened them to Mario Kart, while strongly hinting after the last race that he was seriously considering walking away from the sport at the end of 2026.

A frustrated Verstappen stuck in the pack is a very different proposition from the one cruising at the front with a second of clear air.

Sainz’s frustration is understandable, however.

Only moments before this, the Alpine of Pierre Gasly was flipped after contact with Racing Bull’s Liam Lawson, who later retired with damage received by the hit. This followed Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar hitting the wall at Turn 14 after he skimmed the inside of Turn 13, breaking his suspension arm and leaving him angered, thumping his steering wheel in annoyance.

Red Sox Giving Marcelo Mayer 'Chances' In Key Spots

Boston Red Sox second baseman Marcelo Mayer

Red Sox Giving Marcelo Mayer 'Chances' In Key Spots originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

Marcelo Mayer is expected to be a key part of the Boston Red Sox for years to come, so interim manager Chad Tracy wants to see how he fares against lefties.

Mayer is a left-handed batter who hasn’t gotten many chances to face left-handed pitching. Yet, Tracy is giving him those chances, and the Red Sox’s interim manager has been impressed with how he’s fared.

“He looks confident,” Tracy said of Mayer, via MLB.com. “We're giving him a couple chances here and there against lefties in spots where maybe you move and pick the right spots. Doesn't mean it's always going to happen, but he looks confident.

“He's swinging the bat well. He's taking good bats. He's mostly staying off stuff out of the zone. He's ready to hit fastballs when they're in the zone. It's been a little bit better part of the week now. The at-bats have really improved. So hopefully, keep him moving in the right direction.”

Mayer is hitting .286 in seven at-bats vs. left-handed pitchers with one home run and three RBIs, as he’s showing he can be an everyday player for the Red Sox.

If Mayer can continue to hit lefties well, it will be hard for Tracy to keep him out of the Red Sox’s lineup on a daily basis.

Boston will conclude its three-game series against the Houston Astros on Sunday at 1:35 p.m. ET as the Red Sox look for the series win.

Pregnant F1 Fan Demands Miami GP Response After Travelling From UK For Blocked View

An F1 fan from the UK has highlighted a problem on social media that prevented them from viewing the Miami Grand Prix sprint race, despite having a valid ticket. They compared the race venue to other European Grand Prix circuits where the issue is reportedly non-existent.

The fan uploaded a video from the rpace stands, showing how the crowd stood up when the F1 cars passed by, blocking their view entirely.

Expressing their disappointment, the fan revealed how they had flown all the way from the UK for the Miami GP and had paid for seats from which they could not view the race.

Unfortunately, one pregnant woman with them found it difficult to stand throughout the race, and thus, they were left with no option but to remain seated.

The fan revealed how they had been to other F1 races, such as the Spanish Grand Prix and the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, but never experienced their view being blocked this way.

Asking F1 and the Miami GP organizers for help, the fan wrote on Instagram:

“Flew from the UK for the Miami GP and paid for seats we couldn’t actually use. Everyone stood the whole race, so we had zero visibility.

“We’ve been to other races like Spanish Grand Prix and Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and never experienced anything like this.

“One of us is pregnant and physically couldn’t stand for long periods just to try and see.

“Surely this isn’t the experience fans should have.

“Just hoping this can be made right.

Red Sox give updates on their injured starting pitchers

It hasn’t been a smooth start to the 2026 MLB season for the Boston Red Sox. They sit in last place in the AL East, have already parted ways with their World Series–winning manager, and have spent much of the early season without two of their most important arms: Sonny Gray and Garrett Crochet. But finally, there’s some good news in Boston.

MORE: Yankees facing roster dilemma and their deadline for a solution is today

Sonny Gray Set to Return Soon

The biggest update comes with Gray. The right-hander, who was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals this offseason, is expected to be activated as soon as Wednesday, May 6th, and could take the mound that same day. For a rotation that has struggled to find consistency, his return can’t come soon enough.

Gray brings:

  • Veteran stability
  • Proven production
  • Immediate impact at the top of the rotation

Positive News on Garrett Crochet

The update on Crochet is less definitive, but still encouraging. The Red Sox ace is dealing with shoulder inflammation, but there is no structural damage, which is the key takeaway. That means: No long-term concerns (for now), A potential return within the minimum 15-day IL window, or at worst, a relatively short absence. Given how serious shoulder injuries can be, this is a major relief.

Boston’s pitching staff, without Gray and Crochet, has lacked consistency, depth, and its top 2 SP entering the season. Getting both arms back, even if not at the same time, could help stabilize a group that desperately needs it.

Can This Turn the Season Around?

That’s the big question. The Red Sox have dug themselves into an early hole, and one or two players won’t fix everything. But getting healthy is the first step. And for a team searching for momentum, this might be the reset they’ve been waiting for.

It’s been a rough start in Boston, but the latest updates offer a reason for optimism. Sonny Gray is on the verge of returning. Garrett Crochet has avoided serious injury. Now, the Red Sox just need to turn that good news into better results on the field.

Why Was Isack Hadjar Disqualified From Miami GP Qualifying

Red Bull Racing driver Isack Hadjar has been disqualified from the Miami Grand Prix qualifying after the sport’s governing body, the FIA, found his RB22 F1 car’s floor to be non-compliant with the 2026 F1 technical regulations. As a result, Hadjar will start the race from the pit lane instead of starting from P9.

The FIA discovered in post-qualifying scrutineering that the floor of the RB22 protruded by two millimeters, more than what had been specified in the technical regulations.

The Red Bull F1 team introduced a new floor to Hadjar’s car as part of its upgrade package for the Miami GP. However, that has not met with the FIA’s specifications. FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer stated:

“The lhs and rhs floorboard were protruding 2mm out of the reference volume RV-FLOOR BOARD.

“As this is not in compliance with Article C3.5.5 of the Formula 1 Technical Regulation, I am referring this matter to the stewards for their consideration.”

Red Bull did not go against Bauer’s report. Announcing the penalty, the FIA report read:

“The Stewards heard from the team representatives of Car 6 (Isack Hadjar). They did not dispute the findings of the Technical Delegate that portions of the LHS and RHS floor boards were protruding 2mm out of the reference volume RV-FLOOR BOARD.

“This is a breach of Article C3.5.5 of the FIA F1 Regulations and the usual consequences follow an admitted breach of the technical regulations.”

Following the disqualification, Red Bull issued a statement in which team principal Laurent Mekies apologized on behalf of the team. Planet F1 reported:

“We made a mistake and we respect the decision of the stewards. No performance advantage was intended nor gained from this error.

“We will learn from this incident and assess our processes to understand how it occurred and to take steps to ensure it cannot happen again.

“As a team, we apologise to Isack, and to our fans and partners. We learn the hard way today but we will move forward.

“Now our focus is on converting yesterday’s encouraging showing into a strong race performance this afternoon.”

Huawei Nova 15 Max teased with RYYB sensor, massive 8,500mAh battery ahead of May 7 global launch

Huawei has started teasing the Nova 15 Max, confirming it will be unveiled at a global launch event in Bangkok on May 7, 2026. The phone will join the rest of the Nova 15 lineup, which already includes the standard, Pro, and Ultra models that debuted in China late last year.

The company has already shared a few official images and some early details. The Nova 15 Max is set to pack a massive 8,500mAh battery pack, which is unusually large even by current standards. If it performs as expected, it could easily stretch beyond a full day, possibly even two for lighter users.

Huawei is also highlighting a 50MP RYYB main camera, which should help with low-light performance, along with stereo speakers. The design is very different compared to the rest of the Nova 15 series, at least from what has been shown so far. Color options have been confirmed as well.

The Nova 15 Max is expected to be closely related to the Enjoy 90 Pro Max, which launched in China earlier this year. That device comes with a 6.84-inch AMOLED display, Kirin 8000 chipset, 40W charging, and basic but usable cameras.

So this looks like a familiar strategy. Take an existing model, tweak it slightly, and position it for global markets under a different name. In this case, the big selling point is clearly battery life.

The phone is expected to sit somewhere in the mid-range segment, aimed at users who care more about endurance and screen size than flagship-level performance.

Huawei is also expected to announce a few other products at the same event, including the Watch Fit 5 series and a new MatePad Pro Max tablet, so May 7 could end up being fairly packed.

With the launch just around the corner, more details around pricing, storage variants, and availability should not be too far away. If the battery holds up in real use, the Nova 15 Max could end up being one of the more interesting endurance-focused phones this year.

HP Announces HyperX Clutch Talon Controller, Cloud Stinger 3 Headsets, and NGENUITY Software

HyperX Cloud Stinger 3

HP has launched new hardware in its HyperX gaming line, including a new controller and a refresh of the Cloud Stinger 3 headsets.

The new controller is called the HyperX Clutch Talon, which has tool-free customization, interchangeable sticks, D-pads, triggers, and back paddles. HP also says users can extend customization through 3D-printable parts.

The controller uses Hall Effect sticks and triggers, which are designed to reduce drift and improve precision during gameplay. It also includes three-stage trigger locks and reprogrammable back paddles for faster inputs. Platform support covers PC, Android, and Xbox, while dual wireless connectivity and up to 30 hours of battery life round out the feature set.

HP has also introduced the HyperX Cloud Stinger 3 and CloudX Stinger 3 headsets. The lineup includes wired and wireless options, with low-latency 2.4GHz wireless support on select models and Bluetooth support on the wireless version. The headsets feature stainless steel headband sliders, a lightweight build, memory foam ear cushions, and a noise-cancelling microphone with mute controls.

HyperX Cloud Stinger 3

Battery life is one of the main upgrades on the Cloud Stinger 3 Wireless, which is rated for up to 80 hours. The headset family is built around comfort and durability, while keeping the entry price lower than many gaming headsets.

HP is also moving its HyperX NGENUITY software out of beta after an extended testing phase. The platform adds deeper control over HyperX gear, including audio tuning, microphone settings, device performance, and personalization tools.

The latest NGENUITY Audio Engine is powered by HEAR360 and includes parametric and graphic equalizers, game and chat balance, advanced spatial audio, and spatial chat. It also supports real-time dynamic microphone processing, voice monitoring, EQ presets, and AI noise reduction. Performance controls include adjustable actuation points, Rapid Trigger sensitivity, SOCD options, and mouse sensor tuning. Users also get a customizable dashboard, searchable remapping, and macro recording.

Pricing & availability

The HyperX Clutch Talon Controller is expected this summer on HyperX.com for $159.99. The Cloud Stinger 3 headsets are available now on HyperX.com starting at $49.99. NGENUITY is available to download today.

New Zealand March 2026: Toyota Hilux leads the way, Dongfeng Box lands at #12

The Dongfeng Box has a great start in New Zealand.

New light vehicle sales in New Zealand soar 25.1% year-on-year in March to 14,910 units, leading to a Q1 volume up 12.5% to 36,910. In the detail, passenger cars gain 19.4% to 10,063 sales while light commercials shoot up 38.9% to 4,847. Toyota (+8.6%) can’t match the flying market and holds 18.7% share vs. 18% so far this year. Ford (+31.3%) manages an excellent score at #2 unlike Mitsubishi (-14.1%) at #3. BYD (+221.9%) is up 3-fold year-on-year to #4 and 5.8% share, that’s a new ranking record eclipsing its previous best of #5 reached in December 2023 and June 2025. Tesla is up 271% to #8 and Dongfeng ranks #14 with 2.3% share.

Over in the models charts, the Toyota Hilux (+76.7%) gets a big new generation boost and claims the top spot for the first time since last July. The Ford Ranger (+46.1%) is relegated to 2nd place but holds onto the #1 ranking YTD. The Tesla Model Y surges to third place with 3.2% share, its best ranking since topping the charts outright in September 2023. The Mitsubishi Triton (-15.2%) and Nissan Navara (+6.5%) ensure there are four pickup trucks inside the March Top 5. The Toyota Hiace (+115.3%), Hyundai Tucson (#7), Toyota Corolla Cross (+65.9%) and MG ZS (+50.8%) also shine below. Finally the Dongfeng Box makes a splash at #12 and 1.7% for its first full month of sales.

The inaugural DeepX Summit was held on April 25–26, 2026, at the Cultural Center of the Great Mosque in Algiers. Algeria is rapidly expanding its technology R&D and advanced technology sectors to diversify its economy. The country’s more than 150 research institutions coupled with its large technology talent pool make it an ideal environment for researchers, entrepreneurs and companies developing DeepTech.

The first edition of DeepX was organized under the patronage of:

  • The Ministry of Startups and Micro Enterprises and Knowledge Economy
  • The Ministry of Health
  • The Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry
  • The Ministry of Vocational Education and Training

The launch was officially announced by Dr. Abdenour Haddou, Managing Partner and Chief AI Officer at DeepMinds, who emphasized the importance of moving beyond research into structured execution.

DeepX brings together top-tier scientists, AI experts, industry leaders, and venture builders to collaboratively transform scientific advancements into viable, scalable ventures aligned with real-world needs.

At the core of DeepX are five strategic clusters:

  • Food Security
  • Healthcare
  • Cybersecurity
  • Logistics & Smart Cities
  • FinTech

Each cluster operates as a continuous engine of innovation, working beyond the summit to identify opportunities, develop strategic roadmaps, and drive venture creation in alignment with industry and national priorities.

The first edition of DeepX has attracted strong international participation, bringing together deep tech experts from the United States, Europe, Asia, and across Africa, alongside policymakers, researchers, founders, and investors.

This structured approach enables DeepX to contribute directly to technology transfer and localization, while strengthening the region’s ability to build and scale its own technological capabilities over time.

“DeepX reflects our commitment to transforming deep technology into tangible economic value through structured venture creation,” said Dr. Abdenour Haddou. “It is about building ventures that are viable, scalable, and impactful for our economies and societies.”

Amine Staali, Managing Partner and CEO of DeepMinds, added: “DeepX reflects our vision to position deep technology at the core of economic development. By connecting science, industry, and venture building, we are creating a platform that enables the emergence of impactful ventures and long-term technological capabilities for the region and beyond.”

A key outcome of the summit is the development of the Deep Tech Opportunities Map, identifying high-potential intersections between emerging technologies and industry needs. This serves as a strategic blueprint for venture creation, investment direction, and ecosystem collaboration.

During the summit, and as part of its execution roadmap, DeepMinds has also initiated strategic partnerships with key industry players, including SAIDAL, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing group, and CAAT, a major national insurance company, supporting the development and deployment of ventures within priority sectors.

Positioned as an annual summit, DeepX will continue to expand its footprint, with the next edition announced for December 2026 in Djanet, southern Algeria. The upcoming edition will further strengthen the connection between deep technology, environment, and reflection, drawing inspiration from the unique landscape of the Tassili n’Ajjer region.

With its launch, DeepX sets the foundation for a new approach to deep technology, one that focuses on venture creation, economic viability, and long-term capability building, positioning the region as an active contributor to global innovation.

Beijing Auto Show 2026: The most impressive brands

This post has been updated with more photos.

For this last update we select the three most impressive brands at the Beijing Auto Show 2026. This time a foreign brand makes it to the cut!

Maextro

The brand was already in our most impressive section last year but it has taken it to the next level in 2026. Reduced to a tiny section with only one closed car on display in 2025, this time Maextro has a full blown stand on its own with five vehicles exhibited as well as a section of the HIMA stand with 3 models. I was able to enter the car to explore the interior.

And what an interior! Obviously the dashboard is a giant side-to-side digital tile with three screens. The space at the back (most owners will be driven around) is gigantic with a full on rug at your feet.

Still at the back, instead of a ceiling-mounted screen there is electric motion screen that, when pulled down, covers the entire width of the car. The projector for the screen is located in between the back seats (see picture above).

In between the back seats we also have a large refrigerator…

… as well as large, removable iPhone-like controls for seat functions located on the door.

The S800 is priced from 708,000 to 1,018,000 yuan (85,500-127,300€ or US$103,700-149,100) which is a bargain given the specs of the car. Launched in August, the S800 crossed the 10,000 sales mark by December and is now at 16,809 total units at end of March. It peaked at 4,223 sales in December. This makes it the best-selling luxury sedan in China.

BYD Great Tang

BYD

China’s market leader (in 2025 at least) is back with a vengeance with a flurry of new models at the Show. The main event was the launch of pre sales for the Great Tang, available in BEV and PHEV variants. The Great Tang is a full size seven-seater SUV full-size crossover and at 5.3m long it is the brand’s largest crossover. It offers up to 950 km of EV range while the 4WD version speeds from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. The Great Tang has reportedly recorded no less than 60,000 pre orders within 48h of its launch. Note the Great Tang’s passenger screen appears black to the driver even when on, to avoid distractions.

BYD Seal 08

Also new at the Show were the Seal 08 sedan…

BYD Sealion 08

Sealion 08 SUV (as a near production ready concept)…

BYD Yuan Plus / Atto 3

…and the third generation Atto 3 (Yuan Plus in China) available with the brand’s flash charging technology allowing charging the battery from 10% to 97% in just nine minutes.

Volkswagen

Volkswagen was by far the most impressive foreign carmaker at the Show and seems to have finally woken up after losing its market pole position to BYD and then the second place to Geely, plus being outsold by Toyota in March. The German manufacturer had more than a few new EV models at the Show.

The ID. Aura T6 stands for Advanced, User-centric, Reliable, and All-access. The letter T means Travel, and the digit 6 refers to the “golden balance point.” It’s a 6-seater family oriented urban crossover, and looks like a sedan from the front. It has Xpeng tech on board.

The ID. Era 9X was also unveiled, coming from the SAIC-VW joint venture. It is an EREV (extended range EV) with six seats and will act as the flagship NEV model for the brand. It has the mandatory digital tile extending to the passenger side.

The ID. Unyx 07 was co-developed with Xpeng. It’s a mid-size electric fastback sedan offering a 231 hp electric motor and a 59.9 kWh battery, for a range of 558 km.

The ID. Unyx 08 is Volkswagen’s first mass produced vehicle developed in collaboration with Xpeng. It breaks with the brand’s previous design codes with a distinctive fascia. At 5m long, this is a large SUV but only comes as a five-seater.

That’s all for this year’s coverage of the Beijing Auto Show! I’ll see you again next year in Shanghai.

Beijing Auto Show 2026: The foreign brands

This article has been updated with additional photos.

As is the case every year, BSCB had the opportunity to attend the China Auto Show in 2026, this time in Beijing. Firstly the Show is now a dual-venue format, held at the old China Exhibition Center (Shunyi Hall) and the adjacent all new Capital International Exhibition Center of China (CIECC). Combined, the two venues feature no less than 17 indoor exhibition halls across a record-breaking 380,000 square meters, or over 50 football fields. I walked 21 km across two days to cover all brands showcased inside the two buildings.

The new Capital International Exhibition Center of China

As per 2024 and 2025, we will cover the Show in three different articles: notable foreigners, notable domestic brands and the 3 most impressive brands overall. We will go through almost 200 pictures and just under 40 brands. Let’s start with studying the notable foreign brands present at the Show, in alphabetical order.

Audi

Last year Audi made a splash by launching a new China-only brand in cooperation with SAIC: AUDIi in capital letters instead of the four rings. Hopes were high this would revive the German manufacturer, and the E5 sportback was presented. However the E5 EV only accumulated a little more than 10,000 units since its launch in August, peaking at 2,630 sales last month. Only a drop in the ocean of the very competitive Chinese EV market, and as a result Audi sales are down again over Q1 2026. One year on, and with added pressure to succeed, the carmaker presented the E7X electric SUV, featuring the same end-to-end digital dashboard and digital rear view mirrors, and the same LED light both at the front and back as the E5. One more EV is scheduled to start in 2027, a pace of new launches far from what the Chinese are doing.

BMW

BMW came to the Show all guns blazing with a gigantic stand across two sections of its hall (see picture above). Its main new model is the iX3 SUV, which in my view is one of the most beautiful car designs currently on sale.

Ford

I was very impressed by the large digital tile on the Ford Mondeo Sport’s dashboard. Foreign carmakers are really trying their best to remain competitive. In the case of Ford, it is also badly needed as sales are down -30.9% year-on-year over Q1 2026.

Hyundai

At the Show, Hyundai officially (and belatedly) launched the Ioniq NEV brand in China. It did so with the Ioniq V, a strikingly angular vehicle, as per the brand’s usage of exploring new design frontiers. The dashboard features the now mandatory digital tile expanding to the passenger side.

Jetta

Volkswagen’s attempt at a China-only low cost brand, Jetta, launched in 2019. It has had disappointing results ever since and vegetates at #41 in the brands charts in March with just over 9,000 sales. The issue is it didn’t offer any NEV models. This is all about to change, with the Beijing Auto Show the stage for the brand’s complete relaunch, including a new logo. The only visible vehicle on the stand though is a concept: the Jetta X, a rugged all-electric SUV. The brand says it will launch four new NEV models by 2028, and one sedan was displayed in camouflage.

Lexus

Lexus’s only “news” in China in 2026 is the ES sedan which was unveiled last year at the Shanghai Auto Show. The ES interior is now visible and features a large digital tile extending to the passenger as is now the “norm” in China. The ES is still scheduled to be produced in the brand’s new Shanghai plant in 2027 and will be the first Lexus built in China.

Nissan

Nissan has rightfully embarked on a series of China-only model EV launches. Last year it showcased the N7 sedan. After a fantastic start (10,148 sales last August), the N7 has fallen to just 587 units in February and 1,382 in March. Nissan has also added the N6 which peaked at 6,822 sales in December but dropped to 2,665 last month. Wildly varying scores make it difficult to call them a success or failure so far. Now the brand is launching the NX8 SUV, proposed in EV and EREV versions, and which reportedly secured 8,423 orders within the first 30 minutes of sales. Very encouraging but let’s see whether the model can sustain strong sales after launch unlike the N6 and N7.

Nissan also showcased the Terrano PHEV concept, prefiguring the return of the legendary nameplate as a capable off-road SUV.

Peugeot

A total surprise for me at the Show is the presence of Peugeot (and Citroen). The French manufacturer, in doldrums sales-wise (975 units in March), presented two new concepts: the Concept 6 shooting brake sedan and Concept 8 SUV. The stand also had the Polygon Concept (an advance look at the future 208) and the Citroen Elo concept. The two new Peugeot concepts prefigure a ‌new line-up of large sedans and SUVs, produced in China for China, as well as for export from China to Peugeot’s overseas markets. The first of these new Chinese-built models is expected to launch in 2027. The stand also featured Peugeot’s new visual identity: three horizontal stripes forming the shape of the head- and backlights.

Smart

Smart, now a Mercedes-Benz/Geely joint venture, has unveiled the #6, its first sedan, which will be confined to China. It is the brand’s largest vehicle to date, and is badly needed as sales figures are dismal (1,717 sales in March). The task will be difficult, and the carmaker has completely changed the way it does interiors with the #6 featuring end-to-end digital tile as is now the norm in vehicles aimed at the Chinese customer.

Toyota Wildlander Wildlander details

Toyota

Toyota outsold (just) Volkswagen in March and has managed to contain its YoY loss over Q1 to -5%, a strong result given the environment foreign brands find themselves in in 2026. The Show was the opportunity for me to discover the new generation RAV4 (and its twin the Wildlander) in the flesh. Note it’s the Wildlander that uses the international look whereas the RAV4 proposes a more squared front. Toyota always opts for conservatism and tried and tested features over extravagant advances. True to form, the RAV4/Wildlander’s interior is solid but its screens are rather small in the current context.

Toyota bZ7

Toyota also presented the bZ7 flagship sedan which secured over 3,100 orders one hour after launch, but was rather shy with it as it only showed one example on its stand. Of note is that Toyota was the busiest foreign brand’s stand during the public days.

I spent the day exploring the Beijing Auto Show with industry superstar Felipe Muñoz

Volkswagen

Volkswagen was moved to the most impressive brands post.

This is all for our coverage of the notable foreign carmakers at the Beijing Auto Show 2026. Next we will talk about the domestic manufacturers.
