Samsung plans to offer the second-generation 2nm process (SF2P) for AMD chips. Industry insiders say it’s a more mature process than Exynos 2600. Meanwhile, future Exynos chips will be even more powerful and efficient.

DS Division could soon manufacture a trial production of AMD chips via a Multi-Project Wafer (MPW). The chip designer would assess whether the outcome meets the performance and efficiency required in products.

If the process secures greenlight, Samsung and AMD would finalize the contract next month. It’s going to be a significant win for Samsung Foundry as securing AMD as a contract production client will attract a billion-dollar income.

Samsung showcased a passport-like foldable phone concept in a survey, SammyGuru reports. The outlet has also published a handful of images of the device, which looks a lot like the OG Pixel Fold but has no such thick bezels.

The device mimics the design and dimensions of passports. Folded, it offers a pretty useful screen, which turns almost square when unfolded. It’s a major difference from the existing Galaxy Z Fold design, which doesn’t unfold such wide.

According to Counterpoint Research (via Chosun), Samsung surpassed an 80% market share in South Korea for the 2nd time in a row.

The report reveals that the Korean tech giant flagged an impressive 81 percent share in the third quarter. The company’s market share has increased from 80 percent in the same quarter of the previous year.

While Samsung improved its tally YoY, it faced a 3 percent decline over the second quarter. During the April-June period, the company’s shipments were 84 percent, while the July-September period slipped to 81 percent.

On the other hand, Apple’s market share in the same period was 18 percent. The iPhone maker reported a decline of 1 percent YoY; however, it grew 2 percent QoQ.

Decisive factors

Samsung maintained its growth momentum driven by the success of the Galaxy Fold 7 and sustained demand for mid-to-low-end models like the Galaxy A36, which was released in the second quarter of this year.

Apple’s sales increased due to upgrades in the iPhone 17 series. Counterpoint analysts predict that the gap between Apple and Samsung will narrow in the fourth quarter, reflecting iPhone 17 sales released this September.

Lock screen PIN interface now features dynamic colors in One UI 8.5, via SMASithick. The numeric keypad that appears for the entry of PIN now displays colorful buttons. The colors aren’t just random but derived from wallpaper.

Based on the lock screen wallpaper, the PIN screen keypad adopts gradient colors. The blur is still there to separate the keys from the background. The new color engine also covers the Emergency call button at the bottom.

The new design language is a major improvement over the blurred buttons in One UI 8. Samsung has turned the solid colored keys into dynamic ones. It offers a clean and visually pleasing appearance to the lock screen.

It’s just an initial version that can’t be considered final. Samsung might make tweaks to further refine the new design. The changes will be applied keeping in mind they shouldn’t consume a significant portion of the battery.

It’s just an example; Samsung has made tons of related changes across the UI. One UI 8.5 feels like a major design upgrade over One UI 8. It adopts Glass UI, a floating navigation bar, redesigned apps, and colorful backgrounds.

The tipster specifically highlighted the AI-powered notification summary feature. It should have arrived with One UI 7 last year, but plans were changed.

The feature will summarize notifications for up to the last 24 hours. Samsung’s Gauss AI model reportedly powers the AI notification summary. It would function on-device to give consumers peace of mind on their data and notification privacy.

New features

Galaxy S23 series will gain access to various new features as part of the One UI 8.5 update. The software carries a customizable Quick Panel, stock apps with modern design, and a recreated Settings menu.

Samsung has enhanced the appearance of key aspects, including DeX and Camera. Camera Assistant’s “save to external storage” feature has been moved to camera settings. The Pro (Photo) and Pro Video modes bring a clean interface.

Agent AI integration

The analysis suggests 2027 will be the year of splendid AI upgrades from Samsung. Mobile devices are slated to introduce enhanced real-time AI responsiveness.

Samsung is prepping to launch Ambient AI with the Galaxy S26 series. The following year, bringing the S27 series, will likely bring even more advancements.

Solid-state battery

Samsung also plans to commercialize a solid-state battery for mobile devices. The company would first use the new battery tech in wearable devices. After successful utilization and assessment, it would expand to phones.

Smart glasses

Samsung could soon launch a breakthrough in smartphone camera technology. Future Galaxy phones may be equipped with an advanced Samsung camera sensor with a global shutter, replacing the legacy solution.

According to SisaJournal (via Jukan), Samsung has developed global shutter camera technology for future Galaxy phones. The new solution is slated to be utilized in place of the conventional rolling shutter sensor tech.

The report claims that the company is focusing on the development of a global shutter-level image sensor. The target is to utilize the next-gen image sensor shutter technology in the future flagship smartphones.

Global shutter camera

The new sensor features a new pixel structure and algorithm tech based on rolling shutter hardware. Thanks to the mix and match of new and mature solutions, the sensor has become advantageous for high-res implementation.

Samsung applied a new pixel structure to a 1.5µm pixel pitch with a 12MP-class lens and managed to realize global shutter-level shooting features.

The company has designed a new analysis engine that features an Analog-to-Digital Converter included in the Pixel Level ADC. This would have taken the pixel size to 3µm, double the basic size used in smartphones.

Samsung kept the actual physical pixel at 1.5µm size but made it into a ‘2×2’ bundle form so that a 3µm pixel unit could be used as the basic unit digitally.

A Samsung Electronics official familiar with the related technology said, “It is a structure where 4 pixels share one ADC; in this case, only the part corresponding to 2×2 operates sequentially like a rolling shutter, and the rest can operate as a global shutter.”

What next?

Smartphone cameras require higher resolution, making the global shutters difficult to use. However, the new shutter mechanism has plenty of advantages, including the ability to accurately capture fast-moving subjects.

Apple also reportedly wants a global shutter to be used in its future iPhone camera. The iPhone maker is also pushing Samsung to innovate the tech. Samsung seems to have achieved a satisfactory level of implementation.

Rolling shutter cameras usually fail in accurately capturing moving objects. However, the global shutter sensor can capture fast movements. It captures the entire frame at once, and it captures high-speed subjects like a still screen.

The development has reportedly been completed, but refinements would still be made. The company will explore ways to further optimize the new camera before commercializing it with the future Galaxy S series phones.

The official continued, “However, since rolling shutter operation is included, there is slight image distortion, so it cannot be seen as a perfect global shutter,” adding, “We extracted optical flow (brightness change of each pixel within the image when the camera or subject moves) from this and performed motion compensation. By applying that including the algorithm, a high-resolution image sensor with global shutter characteristics became possible even at a very small pixel pitch.”

Samsung plans to officially present specific details early next year.

Recently, Samsung listed a new charging adapter on its Levant website. The charger features 60W power output, compatible with the S26 Ultra. It doesn’t require a specific 5A cable to deliver the full charging speed at 60W.

It’s said that the S26 Ultra will charge from 0 to 80 percent within 30 minutes. The upgrade from 45W to 60W is huge and paves the way for more upcoming models. Samsung has also surpassed the 5,000mAh battery barrier recently.

Satellite-ready variant

Samsung’s shop website has put a notice on the Z TriFold page, thanking buyers for their support. It also notifies that the product is out of stock. Interested buyers can sign up for a restock notification for an alert when the product goes on its next sale.

Samsung has one of its key phone manufacturing bases in Vietnam, which was hit hard due to slowing US imports. Even though America exempted smartphone imports from tariffs, Vietnam faced a steep decline in exports.

Reuters reports that the US phone imports from Vietnam “fell to their lowest levels in more than five years” in November 2025, hitting Samsung hard. While the phone maker didn’t reveal export data, the country’s official data says so.

Vietnamese exporters with Samsung’s backing have also faced trade uncertainties and slowing consumer demand. The country faced ups and downs throughout the year, but November ended up being the worst in five years.

Back in January, exports peaked to fill up stocks before tariffs came into effect. After a brief fear, the Trump administration freed up smartphone and select electronics’ imports from tariffs.

However, the smartphone market witnessed a steep decline from August. It was the month the US and Vietnam signed a trade pact, and the latter facing 20% reciprocal tariffs imposed.

Despite the reciprocal tariffs, the US kept phones and electronics exempted. However, trade uncertainties have led the Vietnamese phone exports to the US to fall to less than $410 million in November.

Samsung doesn’t officially share country-wise export data. Having Vietnam as its biggest production base, official export data suggests Samsung’s Vietnam engine has been hit hard in the past couple of months.

A Vietnam-based executive familiar with Samsung’s operations said (via Reuters) the company was adjusting its production and export volumes in the country in reaction to weakening consumer sentiment.

A source familiar with the matter stated, “Samsung Electronics has decided to offer the internally developed Exynos HPB packaging technology to other potential customers, including Qualcomm and Apple.”

With Exynos 2600 featuring an advanced cooling tech, Samsung MX has reportedly asked Qualcomm to offer its Snapdragon with HPB-level thermal dissipation packaging so the processor stays cool during the process.

Thanks to HPB, Exynos 2600 runs about 30% cooler than Exynos 2500. The new packaging tech replaces the legacy method by using a copper-based heat spreader placed on top of the mobile AP to maximize heat dissipation.

Days after initial rollout, Samsung is now bringing December 2025 security update to the Global Galaxy S25 phones. The software is based on One UI 8.0 atop Android 16 and available for those who didn’t join Beta Program.

Samsung launched One UI 8.5 Beta Program on December 8th. First Beta is available in Germany, South Korea, the UK and the US. Second Beta rollout is expected later this month, along with country expansion.

Hours before kicking off the One UI 8.5 Beta, Samsung provided the December 2025 update to the Galaxy S25 series in South Korea. The firmware has finally crossed Korean boundaries and is hitting users globally.

Despite the Global rollout, the latest software hasn’t arrived in the US. Owners of the S25 series are still awaiting the update stateside. You can check for the BYKS build through Settings > Software update > Download and install.

Earlier this month, Samsung detailed its December 2025 patch. The package carries fixes for a total of 68 vulnerabilities, with CVE and SVE included.

If your country doesn’t qualify for the Beta Program, you have to be satisfied with the latest security patch. The security patch is necessary as it significantly improves the overall user experience and privacy.

Key features of Samsung’s new adapter include Super Fast Charging 2.0 at max 60W, low power consumption on standby, protection from overcurrent, short circuits, and high temperature, and vast compatibility with various devices.

Samsung says the charger supports Galaxy smartphones, tablets, watches, buds, and books (laptops). The adapter is intelligent enough to optimize as per the device’s needs.

Samsung has now extended its One UI 8.5 testing to the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6. The company has started internal testing of the major software update. Samsung didn’t share its plan for opening Beta for more devices.

Recently, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 were spotted running One UI 8.5. These were not general models, but the company’s test devices. The first build is identified through a version ending with DYLB.

The last three letters will change throughout the testing process. If Samsung considers the Beta Program, we may see Z replacing D as the fourth last letter. The Galaxy S23’s update has also recently joined the internal testing phase.

One UI 8.5 is the following version of the One UI 8.0 based on Android 16. Based on the foundation of One UI 8, the new One UI 8.5 brings significant improvements, with changes spanning across the user interface, apps, and features.

Samsung has also enhanced customization across the software system. Quick Panel personalization is now completely in your hands. Various app icons have also adopted a depth effect to replace the existing flat design language.

One UI 8.5 Beta is currently available for the Galaxy S25 series. It will officially roll out with the Galaxy S26 series early next year. Samsung pledged to sequentially distribute the new features and changes in the first half of 2026.

A new industry report suggests Samsung is accelerating its HBM4 expansion. The company has reportedly decided to operate Phase 2 of the P4 line at its Pyeongtaek campus for production of the 6th-gen High Bandwidth Memory.

South Korean media outlet Dailian reports that Samsung Electronics is expanding its HBM4 production. Pyeongtaek campus’s P4 line (Phase 2) will be established as a dedicated DRAM line for HBM4 supply.

HBM is an industry where large-scale mass production is difficult to start without customer verification. Samsung’s decision is interpreted to mean that customers have raised direct demand pressure and volume requests.

Earlier, Samsung considered establishing the P4 line as a Foundry dedicated to contract manufacturing. However, the latest change flips the script as the company has dedicated this space for DRAM production.

The Korean tech giant is operating reshuffles to chase the intensifying demand for AI-specific HBM memory chips. It’s reported that the demand for HBM semiconductors has sharply increased since the beginning of the year.

In addition to Nvidia, industry giants such as Google, Amazon, and Microsoft are also requiring HBM solutions. Recently, Nvidia shared good news for Samsung HBM4, and Broadcom approved the same for Google TPUs.

An industry official stated, “As HBM demand is sharply increasing, production capacity is becoming important,” adding, “This plan seems to be an effort to maximize the capacity to respond amidst intense demand pressure.”

Galaxy S24 users are confused about the One UI 8.5 Beta rollout, and Samsung has quietly pushed the December 2025 security update.

On December 8, Samsung first released the December patch for the Galaxy S25 series and kicked off the One UI 8.5 Beta Program a few hours later. Well, it’s not going to happen with the Galaxy S24 series, at least for now.

That said, Galaxy S24 series users have to settle for the December 2025 security update. It’s a big package that weighs about 350 megabytes. Samsung equipped it with 68 specific improvements, targeting Android and One UI.

Users in South Korea are getting the latest firmware with PDA CYL1. It’s an initial rollout that sequentially expands to more countries. Besides security improvements, the firmware has nothing significant to look at.

Check for updates through Settings > Software update > Download and install.

One UI 8.5 Update

Samsung currently has no plans for One UI 8.5 Beta expansion. Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra are the only candidates qualifying. We may see a Beta Program for more Samsung models in the next couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, Samsung is already testing One UI 8.5 for many devices, including the S24 series. The scope just widened to cover the Galaxy S23 series of phones. However, the Stable distribution is unlikely to begin before the start of Q2 2026.

The next wave of Beta rollout is expected in late December, covering two more countries: India and Poland. Samsung may provide the second Beta to current Beta participants on December 22 in Germany, Korea, the UK, and the US.

Samsung and KT have validated an AI tech that predicts network signal drops. It’s a massive technological breakthrough, making 6G feel closer. It will ensure delivery of uninterrupted service across a range of real-world environments

On December 10, Samsung and KT announced the validation of the AI-RAN optimization solution. It follows the simulation-based verification completed in June, marking the first successful demonstration on a live commercial network.

The test

Samsung’s Electronics and Research teams collaborated with Future Network Laboratory at KT Corporation to conduct a field test with approximately 18,000 users with varying environmental conditions.

The AI-RAN technology was applied to users who had repeatedly experienced service disruptions, allowing the teams to identify recurring issue patterns and develop user-specific network configurations.

Samsung and KT then compared the number of disconnections before and after applying these configurations. The test results revealed that the connection failures have been reduced among users who had faced frequent disruptions.

Samsung begins behind-the-scenes work on One UI 8.5 for Galaxy S23 phones. The new software’s internal testing has just begun for the 2023 flagships. This move comes after a handful of Galaxy A phones have entered the arena.

Galaxy S23 series is eligible for the One UI 8.5 update, but the Beta Program is uncertain. Samsung might keep the users waiting until the second quarter of next year and directly provide a Stable build, skipping the Beta Program.

The first internal build carries FYLB, where F refers to the major One UI version. It replaces the existing E, which was bumped with One UI 8.0. If a build with the Z character appears, Beta testing will begin shortly after, but it’s less likely.

Turns out that everything isn’t fine inside Samsung. A new report sheds light on an internal war, alleging that the Samsung chip team (DS Division) has refused Galaxy’s (MX Division) request, putting Galaxy S26 at risk.

Samsung will launch the Galaxy S26 series early next year, but the MX Division has reportedly failed in securing a long-term deal with the DS Division on memory chip.

Sources citing SEDaily claim that Samsung’s DS Division has recently rejected the MX Division’s request for a long-term contract of DRAM for a year or more. The Division is only entertaining contracts on a quarterly basis at its best.

The report also suggests that there were high executive level discussions between the MX and DS divisions. However, the Mobile Team has just managed to secure DRAMs for the fourth quarter of the year, ending on December 31.

DS Division falls under Samsung Elec’s umbrella, but the business is reportedly sidelining DRAM and NAND contracts. The present focus is aimed at securing orders for beneficial products like HBM for AI data centers.

Galaxy S26 series will use DRAMs from Samsung Electronics and Micron. The supply will be split between the two firms, while the exact proportion is currently unknown.

Earlier this year, the price of Samsung’s 12GB LPDDR5X RAM was around $33. The prices have been skyrocketed in the past few months, with the same DRAM now costing around $70.

Seeing a potential spike, MX Division tried to score a long-term deal with DS Division. At this stage, the chip team is prioritizing its growth opportunity, but it has led the mobile business to face a chipflation and profit decline.

There’s a simple logic: MX is concerned about increasing DRAM and NAND costs. At the same time, DS isn’t bowing down, even for its sister division, as it aims to secure growth and revenue, benefiting from the memory super cycle.

Samsung hasn’t yet matched Apple and Google’s lead in software distribution. The two biggest rivals run a Beta Program for all devices worldwide and even push Stable updates the same day for all qualifying devices.

Imagine if One UI 8.5 Beta were opened for not just the Galaxy S25 series, but also for the S24, S23, and S22 series. Foldable and premium tablet devices should have also joined the Beta testing to shape the latest Galaxy software.

Well, it remains a dream.

Open to all – fans

Forget all devices, Samsung even limits its limited Beta to select countries. Samsung’s full Beta rollout will take place in six countries. Fans residing in other markets will have to wait until the official rollout begins months later.

It would have felt satisfactory that every Galaxy S25 user around the world is eligible for the One UI 8.5 Beta Program. The larger the testing scale, the efficient the Beta Program would have been, but we can’t get this from Samsung.

Samsung announced official One UI 8.5 will be released with the Galaxy S26 series next year. Following the official debut, the software will sequentially be provided to several existing Galaxy phones, foldables, and tablets thereafter.

According to TheElec, Samsung hasn’t improved the camera specs of the Galaxy S26 (probably the Plus version too). It’s a total disappointment as an upgraded ultrawide and telephoto camera was highly anticipated by fans.

The base model of the Galaxy S26 series may bring a 50-megapixel main camera. The ultrawide and telephoto cameras are also said to be unchanged. Meanwhile, there’s no hope for an improved front camera for the selfie module.

Open Galaxy Store and update the Samsung Members app to the latest version. Ensure your device is connected to a cellular network with a SIM (physical or eSIM) as well as your Samsung Account logged in.

Auracast is becoming an Audio broadcast, but the core standard is unchanged. The feature’s description traces its roots to Auracast. The rename is just Samsung’s way to differentiate Auracast on Galaxy from other Androids.

One UI 8.5’s Audio broadcast feature allows you to broadcast sounds like music and voice from your phone to nearby devices. It’s literally a magical feature with no limitation on connections to share your phone’s sound.

Samsung is bringing Audio Brief switch to its Now Brief feature. The company is rolling out a new Personal Data Intelligence app, which improves the user experience of one of Galaxy AI’s signature features, via JCUNLTD.

Now Brief has added a dedicated switch for the Audio Brief feature. Samsung’s latest Personal Data Intelligence has arrived with this addition. Galaxy users need to install the latest version from the Galaxy Store app market.

Once installed, Now Brief settings will let you enable/disable Audio Brief. It would come turned off by default, and you can enable the toggle. When enabled, you get a key to have audio-based briefings curated by Now Brief.

With the One UI 8, Samsung rolled out the Audio Brief feature to Now Brief. It allows users to listen to audio-based summaries rather than reading. The content completely comes from the data gathered by the Now Brief feature.

Samsung has crafted Direct voicemail and Private album. The former is inspired by Apple’s iOS, while the latter is hidden inside One UI 8.

Direct voicemail

One UI 8.5 will let you set Direct voicemail for callers. When enabled, it will let callers record a voicemail as they call. It’s a feature already available on Apple iPhones that works for callers having Android phones too.

When you receive a call, the caller will be prompted to record a voicemail. It will happen after a certain time duration or early if manually set. If the caller drops a voicemail, you receive the message in text form.

The official description is as follows:

Let callers record a message when you can’t answer and see what they say in real-time on the screen. You can start Direct voicemail manually when you receive a call or set calls to automatically go to voicemail after a certain amount of time.

Private album

Samsung Gallery already has Private Album feature on One UI 8. However, you need to manually enable it from Gallery Labs. One UI 8.5 will end the need for this manual activation and bring it to the Gallery app.

Private album is a dedicated space where you can store your personal photos and videos. The folder will be available in the Gallery app’s menu. You can access the folder’s contents after authenticating through biometrics.

Samsung is preparing One UI 8.5 Beta, and the release could be minimal. One UI 8 rollout is completed in November, and the entire focus has been shifted to the One UI 8.5 Beta, with the official version coming with the S26 series.

One UI 8.0 was released with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, and Samsung decided to revive x.5 iteration with the Galaxy S series. The flagship lineup was supposed to arrive with One UI 8.1 before the One UI 8.5 rumors surfaced.

Later, it was rumored that the One UI 8.5 will go through a Beta Program before its Stable release in 2026. It was originally planned to kick off in late November, but new rumors signal its arrival on December 8, 2025.

One UI 8 Beta was available for a wide range of Samsung devices; however, the One UI 8.5 Beta is unlikely to stay the same. The mid-cycle version’s Beta Program may be released for just the Galaxy S25 series in six or seven countries.

One UI 8.5 Beta may be limited to:

Beta builds have already started to appear on the software server. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy S24 have also started internal testing. These flagship devices may directly receive the Stable update in the second quarter of next year.

Build versions suggest Samsung has crafted the One UI 8.5 on the most updated version of Android 16. It will benefit Galaxy users with core Android upgrades and features that Google provided to its Pixel smartphone users.

Samsung has recently confirmed Exynos 2600, and a back-end development reveals the chip has become more powerful.

A new Geekbench listing of Exynos 2600 suggests that Samsung has boosted the chip’s CPU to make it even more powerful than ever. This input follows recent news that claimed Exynos models would be limited to South Korea.

Exynos 2600 is a deca-core chipset, featuring a total of 10 cores. It includes three clusters, with the first bringing six efficiency cores, the second having three performance cores, and the third featuring one prime core.

The company has carried out a major revision in the chip’s CPU frequencies. The prime core has improved from 3.55GHz to 3.80GHz, performance cores upgraded from 2.96GHz to 3.26GHz, and efficiency cores from 2.46GHz to 2.75GHz.

The chip’s latest benchmark reveals upgraded CPU cores, including:

• One C1 Ultra (3MB L2) @ 3.80GHz
• Three C1 Pro @ 3.26GHz
• Six C1 Pro @ 2.75GHz

Based on the new benchmark, scores should be 3455 in the single-core test and 11621 in the multi-core test. While the Exynos 2600’s CPU cores improved significantly, the company hasn’t tweaked the Xclipse 960 GPU.

Exynos 2500 was Samsung’s first mobile chip made using 3nm process. The chip’s performance gaps with its Snapdragon counterpart and Samsung Foundry’s struggling yields have canceled its adoption in the Galaxy S25 series.

Samsung didn’t dump Exynos plans, but crafted an even more powerful chip. The latest Exynos 2600 is fabricated using the most advanced 2nm process. It’s a generation ahead of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Apple’s A19 Pro.

Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus will be equipped with Exynos 2600, while the S26 Ultra will only use Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. A recent report claims Exynos-powered flagships would only be sold in South Korea, Samsung’s home ground.

Apple and Samsung captured five spots each in the top-10 list. The iPhone 16 led the market with 4% volume share, maintaining the first position for the third consecutive quarter. Sales of this device were boosted by Indian festive sales.

Samsung Clock UI is stunning, but One UI 8.5 makes the existing design totally boring. Samsung has redesigned the stock Clock app, and it’s coming to your Galaxy device.

One UI 8.5 brings a major UI redesign to the Samsung Clock app. The user interface looks pretty fancy in both Light and Dark mode settings. The new design takes over the flat appearance and offers an elegant view.

Samsung Clock has dumped the legacy navigation bar and adopted the floating menu. The label has gone, and you need to rely on icons to switch tabs. The navigation bar appears as a hovering pill at the bottom of the screen.

Alarm

The Alarm window now recommends a card to improve your sleep. The card is bigger than other alarm cards and filled with a gradient. The description reads, “Keep your phone quiet and get a good night’s rest with Sleep mode.”

If you set more than one alarm, the current view shows them as separate cards. However, in the One UI 8.5, various alarms join together and remove the separation. It makes the overall look clean and easy to manage.

World clock

The World Clock page has adopted a background of a world map. You can add multiple clocks from various time zones to stay updated. There’s a toggle to give the cards new layouts to make the page even more appealing.

Stopwatch

Samsung Clock’s Stopwatch page has gained a digital-cum analog clock design. The new design has a circular clock packed with time marks and clock hands. In One UI 8, the Stopwatch page has just a digital numbering scheme.

Timer

The Timer window is also improved with bold design changes. The background has replaced its solid color with a pleasing gradient design. The button to Start has become circular, and time stamps have added a depth effect.

Sideloading UI on Android 16 has gained subtle new tweaks. With the latest update, Google is finally bringing Material 3 Expressive perks to the Package Installer.

Android 16 now has a redesigned UI for sideloading apps. The pop-up card has been enlarged, and the placement of text is also improved. The header has become a text-based progress bar, and buttons have adopted Expressive design.

The pop-up card’s header now shows the step-by-step progress of app installation, via AndroidAuthority. The “Permission required” card features the concerned app’s icon and label, followed by the next steps to be followed.

You can hit Settings and allow the OS to install APKs downloaded from the app.

As you allow, “Install this app” card will trigger with Expressive buttons termed Cancel and Install. Once you press Install, the installation process will be shown in the following card.

When the app is installed, you will have two options on the next card: Done and Open. Hitting Done will return you to the already opened app or webpage. If you press Open, the newly installed app will be launched on your device.

Samsung is expected to launch One UI 8.5 Beta on December 8. The Beta Program will first be released for the Galaxy S25 series. The distribution will likely occur gradually, with a few countries joining on Monday.

Over the past couple of days, Samsung aggressively refined One UI 8.5 Beta ahead of its potential December 8 release. The company updated Beta builds more frequently than its usual routine to ensure a smooth launch.

Recently, One UI 8.5 Beta with PDA build number ZYL5 was spotted on Samsung’s server. A few moments later, the changelog of this update has emerged. It shows the software has finally reached a level of general stability.

Leaks suggest One UI 8.5 Beta will release first in Germany, South Korea, the UK, and the US. The second phase would follow, covering markets like India and Poland. The two countries would directly receive Beta 2 upon signup.

While recent developments are quite promising, Samsung hasn’t officially announced the Beta Program. The open testing for a mid-cycle version itself is unusual as the company doesn’t typically put x.1 or x.5 versions to Beta test.

So if you own a Galaxy S25 device, it’s time to be prepared. Free up storage and create a backup of your personal data and files. Keep the Samsung Members app updated from the Play Store or Galaxy Store for a smooth joining experience.

Once the Beta testing goes live, you will have to utilize the Samsung Members app for enrollment. Beta slots will be limited and fill up fast in the first phase; it is advised to act quickly and secure your seat for the Beta testing ahead.

Samsung is developing the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 for 2026. The smartwatch will succeed the Watch Ultra and its 2025 iteration released earlier. Meanwhile, the next-gen Ultra Watch’s origin story may be pretty surprising.

Folks at GalaxyClub discovered evidence confirming Samsung’s work on the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 for 2026. The smartwatch is being developed as the Galaxy Watch 9 Ultra, but the marketing name would eventually change.

Back in 2024, Samsung introduced the Watch Ultra alongside the Watch 7. The company refreshed its portfolio by bringing upgraded memory. It was shipped with the latest Watch 8 lineup and shares the same DNA as its OG version.

While the difference between Watch Ultra 2024 and Watch Ultra 2025 was just the memory capacity, the Watch Ultra 2 might bring some notable upgrades.

Samsung might equip the next-gen smartwatches with a new Exynos wearable chipset. It would be manufactured using an enhanced process tech. Performance and efficiency will improve further given the generational shift.

The report says that the Korean tech giant would introduce the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 in Summer 2026. This smartwatch will be highly inspired by the Galaxy Watch 9, and Samsung might drop the Classic version in the lineup.
