Jude Bellingham was a substitute last Tuesday in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals against Bayern Munich. However, ahead of the La Liga match against Girona, Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa confirmed that things will be different.

“Militao and Bellingham are going to start,” Arbeloa said during Thursday’s press conference, as reported by Diario AS. Both players are working to regain their best physical and sporting form, and the Girona match will be an ideal opportunity for them to log valuable minutes.

Bellingham suffered a hamstring injury in mid-February that kept him out of 10 Real Madrid matches. He returned to action at the end of March as a substitute, and although he joined the England squad during the March FIFA break, he did not play in the friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.

Since then, the midfielder has played 31 minutes against Mallorca in La Liga last weekend, and 28 minutes against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. He delivered a strong performance, playing a key role in the team’s second-half comeback that reduced the two-goal deficit.

Militao also returns to the team

Eder Militao finds himself in a situation very similar to Bellingham’s. The Brazilian defender also suffered a muscle injury that sidelined him for an extended period—missing 24 matches across all competitions since December.

After returning for limited minutes against Mallorca, where he scored a goal, Militao also played 28 minutes against Bayern Munich and is now preparing to start for the first time this year.

Finally, another piece of good news for Real Madrid is the return of Ferland Mendy, who has only been able to play five matches this season due to a string of injuries. “Mendy will get minutes,” Arbeloa confirmed at the press conference.

Ocak ayında Aston Villa ile yapılan Abraham pazarlığında, bonservis bedeline karşılık Beşiktaş’a gelen Yasin Özcan tam bir belirsizliğin içine düştü. Büyük umutlarla imza atan oyuncu, sezonun ikinci yarısında Sergen Yalçın’dan bir dakika bile süre alamadı. Bu durum, "Abraham karşılığında neden bu transfer yapıldı?" sorusunu akıllara getirdi.

Galatasaray’da yıllardır önüne geçilemeyen, kadro ve taktik sızıntılarıyla kulübe "köstebek"lik yapan yapıya karşı tarihin en büyük temizlik harekatı başladı. "Köstebek" meselesi yeni değil. Fatih Terim döneminde de antrenman sahasının drone ile izlenmesinden, ilk 11’in maçtan saatler önce rakiplerin eline geçmesine kadar birçok kriz yaşanmış; ancak sızıntının kaynağı bir türlü tam olarak kurutulamamıştı. Şimdi ise o dönemden bugüne sarkan "kripto" isimlerin tasfiyesi hedefleniyor.

- 'Yemleme' Metodu (Dijital Tuzak): Florya’da şüphe çekilen isimlere "kişiye özel" ama gerçeği yansıtmayan farklı bilgiler servis edilecek. Sosyal medyaya düşen "yanlış" haberin hangi kaynaktan çıktığı, kullanılan kelime kodlarıyla anında tespit edilecek.

- İletişim Trafiği Mercek Altında:: Kulüp personeli kulüp dışındaki "duyumcu" hesaplar ve bazı muhabirlerle olan irtibatları geriye dönük inceleniyor. Özellikle antrenman saatleri ve maç önü süreçlerinde yapılan dijital görüşmeler kayıt altına alınmaya başladı.

- 'İç Çember' Temizliği: Sızıntının sadece personel değil, yönetim katına kadar uzandığı şüphesi üzerine; yönetim kurulu toplantılarına telefon alınmaması ve tutanakların sadece kapalı devre sistemde tutulması kararı alındı.

Yönetimin, elindeki şüpheleri somutlaştırdıktan sonra bu isimlere "istifa" seçeneğini sunacağı, aksi takdirde kamuoyuna deşifre ederek tazminatsız fesih yoluna gideceği öğrenildi.

Teknik direktör Okan Buruk’un da "Şampiyonluk yolunda içeride düşman istemiyorum" diyerek bu konuda tavizsiz olduğu gelen bilgiler arasında.

Fenerbahçe'nin İspanyol futbolcusu Marco Asensio'nun sol diz ön çapraz bağında gerilme ve ödem tespit edildi.

Sarı-lacivertli kulüpten yapılan açıklamada, "Futbol A Takımımızın oyuncusu Marco Asensio'nun, sponsor hastanesinde gerçekleştirilen tetkikleri sonucunda, sol diz ön çapraz bağında gerilme ve ödem tespit edilmiştir. Oyuncumuzun tedavisine başlanmıştır." ifadelerine yer verildi.

Gazetemizin 19 Mart’ta, "FIFA ve lig kurallarına uygun, sert olmayan ancak koruyucu özelliği yüksek karbon fiber atellerle 4. haftadan itibaren sahada olabilir" diyerek duyurduğu haber, koldaki sakatlığın özel bir korumayla aşılacağını ortaya koydu.

Göztepe maçı sonrası konuşan Okan Buruk, Osimhen’in koldaki sakatlığına rağmen geri dönüşü için açık kapı bıraktı:

- Victor Osimhen, Gençlerbirliği maçında şartlar uygun olursa kadroda olabilir. Onu koruyarak, en verimli şekilde kullanmak istiyoruz; derbi hedefimiz ise baki.

Koldaki kırık bölgesini korurken oyuncunun hareket kabiliyetini sıfırlamamak gerekiyor. Karbon fiber burada devreye giriyor. Çelikten 5 kat hafif olan bu atel, oyuncunun koluna ek bir ağırlık bindirmez. Darbe geldiğinde enerjiyi kırık hattına iletmek yerine yüzeye yayarak iyileşme sürecindeki kemiği korur. Atelin dış yüzeyi bir kalkan kadar serttir, ancak iç kısmındaki medikal süngerler ve hipoalerjenik doku, cilde baskı yapmaz ve terlemeyi minimize eder.

Kol bölgesindeki yoğun terleme, geleneksel alçı veya plastik atelleri kaydırabilir; ancak karbon fiber nemden etkilenmez. Osimhen’in kolu için üretilen bu koruyucu, sıradan bir bandaj değil, tamamen kişiye özel bir tasarım. Oyuncunun kol ve bilek yapısı milimetrik olarak taranır. Amaç, bilek ekleminin hareketini engellemeden sadece sakat bölgeyi sabitlemektir.

Darbe anında yükün ameliyat dikişlerine veya hassas noktaya binmemesi için atel üzerinde özel "boşluklu" bölgeler tasarlanır. Sadece 1.5 - 2 mm kalınlığındaki bu "zırh", formanın altına rahatça sığar ve oyuncunun hızını veya dengesini etkilemez. Kol sakatlığı yaşayan oyuncular, genellikle ikili mücadelelerde kollarını kullanmaktan çekinir. Bu karbon fiber koruyucu, Osimhen’e "bilinçaltı güveni" vererek sahada %100 eforla çarpışmasını sağlayacak.

Trabzonspor'da transfer sihirbazı olarak kabul edilen scout şefi Eren Mert ve ekibi için Galatasaray'dan operasyon! Sarı-kırmızılıların masadaki teklifi dudak uçuklatıyor. Manchester City'deki 10 yıllık görkemli kariyerini geçtiğimiz yaz noktalayarak bedelsiz olarak İtalya’nın yolunu tutan Belçikalı yıldız, Napoli forması giymeye devam ediyor. Geleceği hakkında La Gazzetta dello Sport'a konuşan maestro, şu ifadeleri kullandı:

Shakhtar'da kısa süre birlikte çalıştığı Georgiy Sudakov'a hayran kalan Arda Turan, Benfica'da Jose Mourinho ile kriz yaşayan Ukraynalı yıldızı Galatasaray'a önerdi. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is once more calling for the urgent expedition of the CLARITY Act into law, warning that further delays risk loss of US prominence in global economics. 

Bessent nudges fast-tracking of the CLARITY Act

Bessent compared the legislation’s development to that of Singapore and Abu Dhabi, nations that already have clear rules set for the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry. He urged the US to align with the Trump administration’s goal of making it a “crypto capital of the world.”

Additionally, the Secretary argues that the current lack of regulation is fueling volatility in the crypto market and triggering risk-averse sentiment among investors.

Bessent is now campaigning for Senate approval of the CLARITY Act in April and a presidential signing before the first half of this year. This timeline prevents the mid-term election season from further delaying the bill later this year.

In closing, Bessent criticized “recalcitrant actors” and “nihilists”, saying their preference for zero regulation is a hurdle to the nation’s development.

The bill’s previous and future progress

Since its introduction last year, the CLARITY Act has been held up due to the disagreement between stablecoin issuers and banking institutions over stablecoin yield. Banks have argued that the yield undermines their retail deposits, posing significant challenges to their financial models.

However, White House economists recently refuted these claims, saying such a ban would pose no threat to bank deposits but would hurt consumer welfare.

Currently, the bill has a 70% chase of passing the Senate before the first half of this year. Should it become law, it would define the roles of different regulatory agencies in the crypto industry. It would also underpin a “pro-innovation” stance rather than strict enforcement. Furthermore, it would unlock trillions of dollars from institutional investors, who largely remain on the sidelines due to legal obscurity.

Layer-1 blockchains continue to compete for dominance, with user activity emerging as a key metric to track real adoption. While price often grabs attention, daily active users provide a clearer signal of where on-chain demand is actually flowing.

Recent data highlights five major Layer-1 networks leading in user activity this month, and interestingly, Ethereum does not fit in the list. This offers insight into which ecosystems are gaining traction and where capital could rotate next.

BNB Chain Leads With 4.3M Active Users

The daily active user indicator indicates the traffic of the platform as it denotes the number of users interacting with the platform. The latest data suggests that BNB chain is leading the race with over 4.3M active users, followed by Tron with 3.2M, Near Protocol with 2.5M, Solana with 2.4M and Sei with 1.4M. 

Interestingly, Ethereum has not made it into the top 5 platforms with high active addresses, which suggests a potential shift to the other chains. BNB Chain and TRON dominate in raw user activity, while NEAR and Solana remain competitive in the mid-tier. Sei, despite lower numbers, still makes the top 5—indicating early-stage but notable adoption.

However, high user activity does not always translate into price strength, making it essential to assess both adoption and market structure together. Currently, the question arises of how this will impact the token’s price.

BinanceCoin (BNB) 

BNB price is trading within a predefined resistance and support range as the bulls and bears have been failing to divert the rally. As the volume remains below the average, no major price movement is seen, but in the larger perspective, the price is accumulating strength. The selling pressure is fading, while the MACD is heading towards a bullish crossover, and the RSI is consolidating above the lower threshold. Therefore, with the beginning of a new Altseason, BNB price is primed to form a new ATH above $1500. 

Tron (TRX) 

As seen in the above chart, the weekly Tron price is stuck within a resistance and support zone, forming a double bottom pattern. Currently, the price is fighting to hold within the resistance, and if it does so, as the CMF is rising as liquidity enters, a breakout could follow. However, RSI is flattening, hinting towards a drop in momentum, but a breakout may push the levels to the upper threshold. With this, the price is believed to reach $0.4, surpassing $0.37, aiming for higher targets. 

NEAR Protocol (NEAR) 

NEAR has maintained solid user growth, but price performance has been mixed. The asset remains sensitive to broader altcoin sentiment, with rallies often lacking sustained follow-through. The NEAR Protocol price has rebounded from the local support range and is believed to breach through the local resistance at $1.4. Once the price secures this range, a rise to $1.85 is imminent, surpassing $1.66. 

Solana (SOL) 

Solana continues to balance strong ecosystem activity with volatile price behaviour. While user metrics remain high, price action reflects cyclical momentum rather than consistent trend strength. The SOL price has bounced from a crucial support level zone below $80, which has become a strong base. The MACD has undergone a bullish crossover, and the RSI is struggling to maintain an ascending trend. Once the price breaks the barrier at $88, a rise beyond $100 could be imminent. 

Sei (SEI) 

Despite making the top 5 in user activity, SEI’s price has struggled significantly due to supply-side pressure and declining capital retention. This highlights a key disconnect between usage metrics and price performance. The price has been maintaining a strong descending trend with no major bullish possibilities. The draining CMF suggests a drop in liquidity, while RSI remains glued below the average zone as the momentum is not coiling up. Hence, the price is believed to drop, regardless of the rise in the platform’s traffic. 

Wrapping it Up

The latest data shows that user activity across Layer-1 chains remains strong and diversified, with multiple ecosystems competing for attention beyond Ethereum. However, the key takeaway is clear: adoption alone does not guarantee price growth. BNB and TRON show how sustained usage can support stability, while Solana and NEAR reflect momentum-driven price cycles. On the other hand, Sei highlights how structural issues can outweigh user growth. 

As the market evolves, the next phase will likely depend on which chains can convert user activity into sustained capital inflows and stronger price structures.

Currently, it is attempting a recovery after a prolonged downtrend, but the broader structure remains under pressure. While price is showing signs of stabilization, derivatives data suggest that market positioning is still not supportive of a strong directional move. 

This raises questions about whether the TON price has entered a recovery phase or remains stuck within the descending trend.

TON Open Interest Highlights Imbalance

Data from Coinglass shows that Toncoin’s open interest has dropped significantly from nearly $300 million to around $180 million, indicating a clear unwinding of positions. Despite recent price fluctuations, OI has not shown any meaningful expansion, with the latest uptick remaining relatively flat and lacking a strong buildup. This suggests the current move is not backed by fresh leveraged participation but rather reflects low-conviction price action.

The earlier phase was marked by position unwinding rather than the buildup of new exposure. Even now, the market shows little evidence of fresh leveraged participation, with no clear signs of a short squeeze or aggressive long positioning. As a result, the current move cannot be classified as a derivatives-driven rally but rather reflects a low-conviction price expansion.

Toncoin Price Analysis: Can Bulls Trigger 10% Upswing?

The daily chart shows TON trading within a falling wedge, maintaining a clear structure of lower highs and lower lows. The recent bounce is now approaching the upper boundary of this channel, aligning with a key horizontal resistance zone.

Besides, momentum is building up as the RSI breaks above the descending trend and reaches the neutral zone. However, the price lacks strong breakout volume, and hence, the structure remains intact to the south. 

Key Levels to Watch:

• $1.45 – $1.50: Immediate resistance + channel top
• $1.67 – $1.90: Higher resistance cluster
• $1.20 – $1.25: Short-term support
• $1.05 – $1.06: Channel support

TON is showing early signs of stabilization, but both price structure and derivatives data remain unaligned for a strong trend reversal. Until the price breaks the resistance and open interest surges, Toncoin is likely to remain range-bound. A move above $1.45 could push toward $1.67 and later to $1.9, while a rejection could drag the levels to $1.25 and later close to $1.

Much of that transformation, McKennie suggests, is down to the environment Spalletti has created around him.

“I get on very well with him,” McKennie said, with quotes via AlfredoPedulla. “I think every player has different needs and there are different expectations on each of us. Every time I see the manager he gives me a sense of security.”

He was particularly struck by Spalletti’s ability to deliver criticism constructively, an approach he contrasted with other managers he has worked under.

“When he tells you off he never does it in a harsh way, he always does it to make you improve. Some coaches humiliate you, but Spalletti’s personality makes you think that you need to get better. He commands your attention every time he speaks, he has experience, he is wise.”

McKennie also highlighted the collective philosophy that underpins everything Spalletti does. “He focuses heavily on team success,” he said.

“He always says that you can dribble past four opponents, score and be happy, but if you provide a beautiful assist, two people are happy. That is why I say he is the best coach I have had in my career. The numbers say it and the way he manages the group makes him an outstanding coach.”

On Ronaldo, McKennie was equally vivid, recalling the sheer reality of the Portuguese superstar’s legendary dedication. “It was incredible to play with him,” he said. “When I met him I thought that everything you hear about his professionalism is completely true.”

He went on to describe scenes that have become almost mythological in football, returning from away matches at three in the morning to find Ronaldo heading for an ice bath rather than home, and seeing him back in the gym the morning after a gruelling fixture. “It was something I needed to see with my own eyes to believe,” McKennie said.

According to Tuttosport, via CalcioMercato, the Brazilian has already decided to leave Bergamo at the end of the season.

With his contract running until 2027 and Atalanta determined to cash in rather than risk losing him for a reduced fee next summer, the Brazilian’s entourage have been active in exploring options for some time.

They have already reached a preliminary agreement with Atletico Madrid, who have tabled a bid in the region of €35 million, though Atalanta are holding firm at €40 million and are prepared to let a bidding war develop if necessary.

That is where Juventus see their opportunity.

Despite Atletico’s head start, the Bianconeri believe their own appeal, particularly under Spalletti, who has a strong track record of maximising the potential of dynamic box-to-box midfielders, could prove persuasive.

The pursuit of Sandro Tonali has been abandoned due to the prohibitive cost and fierce English competition, making Ederson the most realistic route to the high-quality midfield addition Spalletti has been promised.

Ederson has been at Atalanta since 2022 and has made 173 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals, while also collecting a Europa League winner’s medal in 2024. This season he has featured 34 times, contributing two goals, numbers that underline his consistency if not his attacking output.

The broader picture at Juventus this summer involves significant investment across the squad, with the Vlahovic renewal situation still unresolved and at least one further striker required. But in midfield, Spalletti has made his wishes clear, and Ederson is the name at the top of his list.

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are interested in signing Ian Subiabre from River Plate. 

According to journalist Hernan Castillo, the two Premier League clubs are making constant enquiries for the 19-year-old wide player, and it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done in the summer.

“River is going to have a strong market in the middle of the year. They will spend, but they will also bring in money because it is very difficult for them to keep Subiabre. Very difficult. He has too much interest already.

“I know that Tottenham, Chelsea, Villarreal, Lazio are making constant enquiries. And now Tottenham are very strong.

“I know that for Subiabre, besides the people who represent him, there has already been an €8m (£6.9m) offer that River rejected. And Tottenham are thinking about €12m or €14m (£10.4m-£12.2m).”

If Tottenham can sign him for a fee of around €14 million, it would represent a major bargain for them. The 19-year-old is a tremendous talent with a bright future, and he could easily justify the investment. Tottenham need more quality on the flanks, and Subiabre will add unpredictability and technical ability in the final third. He has three goals and three assists in 35 matches for River Plate.

Similarly, Chelsea needs a player of his quality as well. Subiabre could compete with Alejandro, Garnacho and Jamie Gittens next season.

The opportunity to move to England will be exciting for the South American attacker. It would be a huge step up in his career, and he would get to test himself at a high level. Regular football in England could help him improve further.

Chelsea and Tottenham have the financial muscle to get the deal over the line, and it remains to be seen which club can convince the player. He should look to join a club with a clear pathway to the first team and a defined role in the side. He needs to play regularly in order to continue his development. Sitting on the bench at a big club would be detrimental to his development.

The 21-year-old midfielder will be attracted to the idea of moving to the Premier League. The opportunity to reunite with De Zerbi will be quite exciting as well.

Despite their struggles this season, Tottenham have an exciting team, and they could be fighting for trophies next season. The Belgian will certainly want to be a part of their project. Regular football in the Premier League could be ideal for his development as well. It could bring out the best in him and accelerate his development.

Tottenham have an amicable relationship with RB Leipzig, and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can negotiate a deal in the summer.

The Belgian midfielder needs regular opportunities at the German club, and it would be ideal for him to move on if they cannot provide the necessary assurances.

According to a report from The Times, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are keen on the player, and they would have to pay over £80 million in order to get the deal done. Aston Villa do not want to lose the player, but they will sanction his departure if a suitable fee is presented.

It remains to be seen whether any of the three clubs is willing to pay over £80 million for him. The England international is a prodigious talent with a bright future. He has all the tools to develop into a future superstar, and he could justify the investment. Given the inflation in the transfer market, the asking price for Rogers is hardly a surprise.

Manchester United have been overly dependent on Bruno Fernandes over the years. They need more depth in that area of the pitch, and Rogers would be a solid long-term acquisition. He will add goals and creativity to the team. Rogers has 27 goals and 24 assists in 114 matches for Aston Villa.

On the other hand, Arsenal signed Eberechi Eze, but he has not been able to live up to the expectations. Martin Odegaard has not been at his best this season either. Signing another attacking midfielder could prove wise. They are pushing for the league title and the UEFA Champions League. They need elite talents in order to continue competing at the highest level.

As far as Chelsea is concerned, they need more creativity in the final third. Players like Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens have been underwhelming. They have had to rely on Cole Palmer too often, and he needs more support. Rogers could be the ideal addition for them.

He said to LFCTV: “I think I feel better now that it’s out in the open. The hardest bit [in] the last certainly couple of weeks and months is some people that are close to me in the training ground don’t know and more importantly, the fans. The closer it gets, the more and more questions you start to get.

“I’ve always said that the fans are the most important people at this club and I just think now is the time to tell them what’s going on and that obviously this will be my last year.

“But the time to have the emotional farewell and tell the fans and the people connected to this club what they mean to me, that will come closer to the end. I don’t think I’m quite ready for that yet. It’s just to try to get it out there so I can now be open and honest with everyone.

“Look, I think it has been well-documented, especially over the last year or so, I’ve had opportunities to leave and I’ve not taken them because of how difficult it is to leave this club.

“And I wouldn’t change that for the world. But I know football moves on, I know teams move on and I think now is the time for me to move on and go wherever my next move is and wherever my career takes me.”

According to Andy Hunter from The Guardian, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the player. It remains to be seen whether they can secure his signature on a free transfer.

AUGUSTA, Ga. — With their Azalea cocktails in hand, a few dozen of Brandon Holtz’s family members and golf buddies from Bloomington, Illinois, walked toward the second green Thursday morning at Augusta National and watched him line up a birdie putt. 

“This is insane,” said City Petersen, who has played a few July 4 tournaments as Holtz’s partner at Lakeside Country Club, the nine-hole course where Holtz spends most of his Saturdays. 

“It wasn’t real until we got here,” said Steve Gildner, a friend in the insurance business. “When he was stretching this morning, he was between (Dustin Johnson) and Rory (McIlRoy). It’s crazy.”

Can you imagine if the local real estate agent in your regular golf game decided to enter some amateur events and ended up qualifying to play in the Masters? Though admittedly an oversimplification of Holtz’s story — more on that in a moment — it’s pretty much the experience his friends had Thursday watching him play with two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson and Nicolas Echavarria. 

“This will ruin Crestwicke for him,” John McGrew, who plays with Holtz at the local country club, said with a laugh. 

“He’s gonna be so (expletive) jaded after this,” said Alan Bardwell, one of the best golfers in Bloomington. “He’s going to look at us like, ‘You guys suck.’”

Between the jokes, the drinks and the busting of chops from outside the ropes, it barely mattered that Holtz shot 81. Nerves? Yes, there were a few, particularly on the first tee. Did he play as well as he hoped? Absolutely not. But all in all, it was the kind of day that reaffirmed the thought Holtz has held in his mind all week: He already won before hitting his first shot.

“I got out of position a lot today, and that doesn’t work out here,” he said. “Definitely not what I wanted to do, but had a lot of fun. I felt things I never felt before.”

It was much the same for Holtz’s crew of supporters. The closest many of them ever came to the best golfers in the world was their annual trip to the John Deere Classic, a PGA Tour stop a couple hours down the road in Illinois. Now, here they were not just on a dream trip to Augusta but supporting their friend, a 39-year old former Div. 1 basketball player at Illinois State who has attended the Masters for years as a patron and earned his invitation to play last September by winning the U.S. Mid-Amateur.

“The surreal part is I’m always in this mass of people here looking for my husband,” said his wife, Elizabeth Holtz. “Now I look for him and he’s in the fairway.”

How did Brandon Holtz end up here? 

After college, Holtz was a good enough golfer to kick around on the mini-tours for a few years — several rungs down the ladder from the PGA Tour — but not good enough to sustain it as a career. Yes, he was technically a professional, but at his level it was practically a hobby. Holtz’s best-ever payday by a significant margin was $14,000 for finishing second at the Illinois Open in 2017. Playing golf for a living was a money-losing proposition, and once he got married and started a family, he needed to transition into something else to pay the bills. 

Holtz paid the USGA’s $200 fee to have his amateur status reinstated, but the reason, Elizabeth said, was not because he had his sights on playing big amateur events whose winners gain entry into major championships. Rather, it was because he wanted to be eligible to be in father-son tournaments with their 6-year old boy Baker when he got old enough to play.

Now, that plan is somewhat up in the air after the U.S. Open and potentially the Walker Cup if Holtz plays well enough to earn an invitation.  

“I’ve joked with him, are we just going to go back to selling houses next year?” Elizabeth said. “A lot of things happen when you qualify for the Masters. We had no idea how many layers there were with all this. (Turning pro again) isn’t out of the question.” 

More likely, though, real life beckons: Back on the job at ReMax, back playing for small wagers on the weekends at Lakeside, the course locals call “Little Augusta” because it has the best greens in town. 

“He’ll be back playing with all of us hackers next week,” his friend, Joe Bierbaum, said.

Still, Holtz has got a spot in the U.S. Open field at Shinnecock Hills in June. His goal is to make a cut, which it doesn’t appear will happen here. It means a lot of training and discipline, which wasn’t his strong suit the first time he tried to make it in golf. 

“He’s down 35 pounds in three years,” said his fitness trainer, Brian Lahr, who owns the gym in Bloomington where Holtz works out. “He’s got a lifestyle. He likes to party. We’re trying to take this more seriously.”

He’d also like to dial in his driver before the next time he gets an opportunity like this. After winning the Mid-Amateur, Holtz gifted his favorite club to the USGA museum for display. Ever since, he’s been unable to find a driver he’s comfortable with despite gaining access to Callaway’s testing facilities. 

On the eve of the Masters, he managed to get the USGA to ship the club to him here. It arrived Wednesday night, but ultimately he decided not to put it in play. 

Regardless of how he plays at the U.S. Open, though, it will be hard to match the experience he’s had here — from staying in the famous Crow’s Nest reserved for the amateur competitors to having his father caddy for him after their Masters tradition began in 2004 by winning a lottery for lifetime Masters badges. 

There have been other perks, too. 

A year ago, before there was any notion of winning the Mid-Amateur, Holtz and Bardwell came here for Masters week and e-mailed some of the top courses in Georgia to see if they could get a round in. Every one of them said no.

This year? Different story — particularly after Holtz, now a Masters competitor, forwarded them the rejection e-mails from a year ago. 

“He’s just a normal guy,” said Adam Havens, an executive at his family’s consulting company. “That’s why everyone likes him. We want him to enjoy this, but he’s giving his friends and family an incredible experience.”

In that regard, the score didn’t matter. Every time Holtz set up for a shot, his supporters were finding new ways to say how awesome it was just to be there watching. 

Though the day began with two pars and hope that Holtz could put together a round that would have the whole world talking — “Thirty-six pars and we’ll be here for the weekend!” Gildner said after No. 2 — reality set in with a three-putt on No. 5, a missed birdie chance on No. 6 and a wayward drive on No. 7 that he compounded with a punch out that he shanked into the opposite rough, leading to a double bogey.

Quite simply, there’s a bright line between the best players in the world and a guy with a regular job, and Augusta is the kind of place that usually makes the difference very clear. 

“It’s been an emotional week but a fun week,” Holtz said. “I just kept telling myself, ‘Take it back and swing hard.’ This place, whatever you think it is, it’s multiplied by 10. It was a feeling I never felt before and I can’t wait to feel it again.”

Texas guard Simeon Wilcher has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, per On3’s Pete Nakos. Wilcher has one season of eligibility remaining.

The NCAA Transfer Portal officially opened on April 7 and closes on April 21. The new 15-day window was enacted following a recommendation by the men’s basketball oversight committee. Athletes don’t have to commit to a new school by the April 21 deadline.

This Past Week

Over the weekend, BC faced off against North Carolina down in Chapel Hill. UNC is ranked the #6 team in the nation and is a top-3 team in the ACC. The Eagles managed to claim victory over the Tarheels in their game on Thursday thanks to a stellar pitching performance from AJ Colarusso, who went 6 innings and gave up just 5 hits and 1 run. On offense, BC chipped away at UNC starter Ryan Lynch for 3 runs before he was subbed out. That was all they needed to win the game, but it didn’t stop them from piling on the scores in the 8th and 9th innings to make it a 6-1 victory.

The final two games in Chapel Hill did not go as well. UNC got out to a hot start in Game 2 when Gavin Gallaher solo homered in the first inning, and then a Jake Schaffner triple drove in another two runs in the 2nd inning. From there the two teams were able to score a run every couple of innings, but the initial deficit was too much to overcome. In Game 3, BC collapsed. The Eagles racked up a 6-run fifth inning thanks to a base-clearing double by Ty Mainolfi, followed by RBIs by Jack Toomey and Luke Gallo, then finally a wild pitch that brought Carter Hendrickson home. But the Tarheels came right back in the 6th and 7th innings, shelling starter Brady Miller and reliever Kyle Kipp. BC’s offense went quiet in the final innings and lost 8-7.

On Tuesday, those BC bats roared back to life. They hosted UMass in Brighton for the Baseball Beanpot and shellacked them for an 11-1 win in 8 innings. The Eagles were up 5-1 by the end of the 1st inning thanks to a series of hits and wild pitches. BC reliever Jacob Burnham emerged with the win after pitching 4 scoreless innings to close the game. Following that victory, BC secured another blowout victory over Dartmouth on Wednesday, 13-3.

Coming Up

This weekend, BC will host the Virginia Tech Hokies for a weekend series, including a game at Fenway Park on Saturday April 11th. Virginia Tech is near the bottom of the ACC standings with a 6-9 conference record. They are one of the worst teams in all of Division 1 when it comes to pitching, giving up an average of 7.68 earned runs per game, which is last in the ACC. If Boston College can continue to hit like they have done against UMass and Dartmouth this week, they should be able to handle the Hokies with relative ease.

On Tuesday, the Eagles will play host to the Northeastern Huskies for the Baseball Beanpot championship. The Huskies are 17-14 this season and lost to BC on March 24th, 3-2. The local rival is always a tough out and, although BC has been the better team this season, they will not go down easy. After the Beanpot, BC will host the UConn Huskies in Brighton on Wednesday afternoon.

Manchester United had one more major link in between matches, a 24-day chasm between the draw at Bournemouth and a clash with Leeds United at home next Monday.

The Telegraph’s Jason Burt got one more mention in, so let’s talk about it.

Burt wrote that Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers is in demand in a potential tug of war between United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. The 23-year-old attacking midfielder/wide forward has been on the rise since moving from Middlesbrough to Villa in 2024, and has 27 goals in 114 appearances across all competitions since then.

Rogers has also earned a call-up to the England national team in that time, picking up 13 caps and scoring in a friendly against Wales in 2025.

He is a talented player on the rise, but for United to consider a move, there is also the issue of price and need in the squad. Rogers would be in competition for the squad spots currently occupied by Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Amad, and, more recently, Patrick Dorgu. Without question, he would be a welcome competitor in that room and would offer even more flexibility up front for a squad that has had plenty of experimentation over the past year.

But, at the price reported by Burt (between £80m-£100m), it would be another significant investment up front as the club is planning for other areas of need in midfield. Rogers is more than capable of playing in a midfield three, but is typically at the top of it, where Bruno Fernandes operates back in his preferred role. Rogers is certainly an option as a long-term replacement or rotational spot there, but in terms of getting on the pitch right away he would likely be on the left.

It is notable that Rogers was signed from Manchester City’s academy by Boro in the second full season under Michael Carrick, now the interim boss at Manchester United with a shot at securing the big job on a permanent basis.

“You could always see what he was possibly going to be capable of and the potential in terms of his attributes, the way he carries the ball, he can play off his left foot, play off his right foot, create and score goals and really good athletically,” Carrick said of Rogers ahead of a clash with Villa at Old Trafford, “so there were a lot of things there when we took him to start with…he is a good person, great to work with so I am delighted he has done so well.”

If Carrick is made the new manager this summer, Rogers makes a lot of sense. United’s depth on the left was exposed a bit with the injury to Dorgu, and while Cunha has done well to make the spot his own, his efforts may only be a temporary solution.

With that being said, while Rogers is more of a natural fit out wide, he has similar traits to Cunha that see him drift central onto his favored right foot while playing out left.

The fit and the need are both a bit awkward, but Rogers is the profile of player that United needs to be on the lookout for. He’s a young player who continues to improve his game, and has shown that he can play with the best in both the Premier League and in Europe.

Matt Barnes: I think respectfully this is the first time cuz I know we've said it a lot and heard it a lot over the last two or three years that LeBron James has kind of surrendered the keys and accepted that third role. And I think this is where I feel like this is why the Lakers are better because to me, Braun being in that 17-point triple-double range every night and allowing Luka to be Luka and AR to be AR makes that team so much more potent instead of LeBron having to score in the 20s. He can still do it. Don't get me wrong. He could definitely still do it. But I think he found a way where he can preserve. 2025: Cooper Flagg, Duke

While Duke came up a little bit short of their ultimate team goal in the 2025 campaign, Flagg's coronation as Wooden Award winner capped off a sensational season with the Blue Devils.

In addition to his impressive statistics, Flagg's motor and energy were on full display during non-conference games in November all the way through the Final Four.

2024: Zach Edey, Purdue

Edey made history in 2024, becoming men's college basketball's first back-to-back winner of the Wooden Award in more than 40 years. Everyone knew what was coming from the Purdue center, but very few were equipped to stop it.

He did whatever he wanted in the paint, scoring 25 points per game with an unstoppable jump hook. The "jump" part was optional at 7'4".

2023: Zach Edey, Purdue

Simply put, this one was a bit awkward. It isn't to say that Edey wasn't incredibly deserving of the award in 2023, as the big man averaged 22 points and nearly 13 rebounds per game, to go along with over two blocks per contest.

Despite the dominant season from Edey, No.1 Purdue was eliminated by No.16 Farleigh Dickinson in the first round of the NCAA tournament. History might only remember smaller FDU players fronting the post as they pulled off the monumental upset.

2022: Oscar Tshiebwe, Kentucky

Tshiebwe might not immediately come to mind as one of Kentucky's premier big men this century, but he had a couple of stellar campaigns as an upperclassman in Lexington.

Tshiebwe didn't just lead the SEC in rebounding; he led all of Division I men's basketball in rebounding for two consecutive seasons. Kentucky's man in the middle averaged over 15 rebounds per game during his Wooden Award-winning year.

2021: Luka Garza, Iowa

While Caitlin Clark was getting her historic Iowa run started, Garza was capping his off with a phenomenal senior campaign. Garza reminded basketball fans that patience and smooth post moves could still be effective in this day and age of basketball.

It wasn't like Garza was tethered to the low block, either. He shot 44 percent from three-point range during his 2021 Wooden Award season.

2020: Obi Toppin, Dayton

Toppin certainly played for the right collegiate program, as the Dayton Flyer was a high-flyer throughout his career. His athleticism allowed him to beat players his size down the floor and jump over them if need be.

Stephen Curry and LeBron James are two of the most transcendent players in league history. They’ve each won four NBA championships, and they faced off in the Finals four straight years from 2015-18, with Curry’s Golden State Warriors winning three of those bouts and James’ Cleveland Cavaliers famously mounting a 3-1 comeback in 2016.

Curry’s unlimited range and James’ all-around talent make for must-watch TV. They’re both giving Father Time a pretty good fight, too.

Lately, however, that head-to-head matchup has been missing, and with Curry being ruled out for Thursday night’s game against James’ Los Angeles Lakers, it officially won’t be part of the 2025-26 regular season.

Curry is sitting out the front end of a back-to-back due to right knee management.

KOLKATA, India (AP) — Mukul Choudhary hit seven sixes in the death overs to power Lucknow Super Giants to a three-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League on Thursday.

The 21-year-old Choudhary, playing his first IPL season, dashed Kolkata hopes for its first win in the tournament with an unbeaten 54 off 27 balls as Lucknow reached 182-7 off the final ball.

Unbeaten cameos from Rovman Powell (39) and Cameron Green (32) lifted Kolkata to 181-4 after captain Ajinkya Rahana lost the toss and was put in to bat.

Lucknow has two wins from three games while Kolkata is lurching at No. 9 in the standings with just one point from its last rained-out game.

The total seemed to be enough for Kolkata as Lucknow had slumped to 128-7 in 16 overs.

But Choudhary took charge with its extraordinary power-hitting against pacers including Green, who bowled for the first time this season and finished with 1-28 from his two overs.

Green’s 16-run penultimate over brought down the target to 14 off Vaibhav Arora’s final over, but Choudhary smacked two sixes against the fast bowler as he leveled the scores with his seventh six of the innings over extra cover.

Choudhary couldn’t connect the final ball, but Avesh Khan scampered for the winning run as wicketkeeper Angkrish Raghuvanshi missed the stumps at the striker’s end.

Impact substitute Ayush Badoni (54) also score a half-century, but his dismissal just before the death overs raised Kolkata hopes with Choudhary smacking sixes at will.

Aiden Markram (22) and Mitchell Marsh (15) provided Lucknow a sound start of 41 in four overs before Kolkata’s impact substitute Arora dismissed both.

Markram spooned Arora’s short ball to mid-wicket and Marsh was caught behind when he got a faint edge to a leg-side delivery as the Australian batter threw his head back in disappointment.

Kolkata’s million-dollar buy Green struck off his second ball when captain Rishabh Pant (10) top-edged a short ball to short fine leg as Lucknow slipped to 73-3 in the 9th over.

Lucknow's top-order struggle against short balls continued when Nicholas Pooran fell to Kartik Tyagi for a struggling 13 off 15 balls that featured only one six.

Earlier, Prince Yadav continued to impress with his bowling in the power play when removed Finn Allen (9) in the second over.

The Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act is facing yet another surge of resistance.

Nico Ali Walsh, the grandson of the legendary Muhammad Ali, announced Thursday he has formed an alliance alongside 30 key members and organizations in professional boxing to preserve the current Muhammad Ali American Boxing Reform Act.

The Ali Act Preservation Alliance's formation arrives amid the success of TKO-backed efforts to amend the Ali Reform Act and form an Ali Revival Act. Such attempts advanced significantly last month after the bill was passed by the United States House of Representatives. The legislation will now be introduced in Senate, where it will need a simple majority to pass before it lands on the desk of President Donald Trump, who can sign it into law.

The Ali Act Preservation Alliance argues what many in boxing fear: The Ali Revival Act risks monopolization of the sport because it removes the separation between promoters and sanctioning bodies.

The Ali Revival Act would allow for Zuffa Boxing to create a Unified Boxing Organization (UBO), which could run like another TKO entity, namely the UFC, staging events, awarding titles and organizing a rankings system.

It is argued by the alliance that TKO owning control over boxing would be against fighters' interests. Athletes in boxing command up to 80% of the total revenue for their fights, while in MMA, less than 20% of revenue is shared by the fighters.

Zuffa Boxing also recognizes fewer than half of the weight classes that are used in professional boxing, which, as the alliance argues, means fighters may have to cut more weight than is medically safe.

“As an Ali, I’m completely against altering the Muhammad Ali Act," Ali Walsh said. "My grandfather fought for it to protect fighters from getting screwed over. Remove it, and promoters take control while fighters get paid less. Keep the act and protect the fighters who put their lives on the line.”

In recent years, the UFC has faced multiple antitrust lawsuits, which argue the company has engaged in anticompetitive practices for a number of years, and key boxing stakeholders fear the same could happen in their sport.

The Ali Reform Act prohibits coercive contracts, prevents conflicts of interest and requires financial disclosure. Promoters must disclose the total revenue of the event to headliners and select other fighters on the card. The current act also prevents a promoter from operating as a manager and vice-versa, among other fighter protections.

The Indianapolis Colts are hosting rising pass-rush prospect UCF defensive end Malachi Lawrence on a visit this week, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Malachi Lawrence (6’4”, 253 lbs) is one of the draft’s biggest risers this year. He had 7 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, and 2 forced fumbles during his senior season, and burst onto the scene after a fantastic NFL Combine week. Lawrence ranked second among all Combine participants at his position with an athletic score of 88, per the NFL’s system, running a 4.52-second 40-yard dash (1.59 sec 10-yard split) and jumping 40” in the vertical jump and 10’ 10” in the broad jump.

The Colts have lacked a viable pass rush in recent years, with notable shortcomings coming from the defensive end room. With Indy’s offseason focus surrounding additions to the defensive front seven, particularly at linebacker and defensive end, it checks out that they’re interested in the 41st-best prospect (and 8th-best DE) per the Consensus Big Board.

There have been successful one-off campaigns, such as Yannick Ngakoue’s 9.5 sacks in 2022 or Samson Ebukam’s 9.5 sacks in 2023. Even as recently as last year, Laiatu Latu began to put it together in his second season, finishing with 8.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss. However, betting on Latu’s emergence in his third season isn’t the issue; it’s the lack of starting-caliber players in that position room.

As of now, the Colts’ defensive end room goes as follows:

Starters: Laiatu Latu and Jaylahn Tuimoloau

Reserves: Arden Key, Michael Clemons, Durell Nchami, Viliami Fehoko Jr.

Tuimoloau was drafted in the second round of last year’s draft, being viewed as the eventual starter alongside Laiatu Latu. He only saw limited action in 13 games as a rookie, but there’s not enough to confidently bet on him emerging in year two — this is where a Day 2 pass rush prospect like Malachi Lawrence comes into play.

The only concern with general manager Chris Ballard taking another defensive end in the early stages of the draft, more specifically in the second round, is the poor collective hit rate that has followed. There have been five second-round draft selections, including Tuimoloau, with only one logging more than 5.5 sacks in a single season (i.e., Dayo Odeyingbo — 8 sacks in 2023). Sacks aren’t everything when it comes to defensive end play, but it’s certainly a bigger expectation when one drafts with pass rush upside in mind.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The NBA fined the Orlando Magic $25,000 on Thursday for violating league injury reporting rules before Monday night's home game against the Detroit Pistons.

The Magic reported point guard Anthony Black as out on its initial injury report. After missing 15 games with an abdominal strain, Black returned and scored 14 points with two assists and two steals in 15 minutes for Orlando in its 123-107 win over Detroit.

In announcing the fine, the NBA said the Magic failed to accurately disclose Black's game availability status.

Black, a third-year player from Arkansas, is averaging 15.1 points and 3.8 assists in 62 games, including 40 starts.

Many in Los Angeles have been anxiously awaiting their chance to buy tickets for the 2028 Olympics, but when they went on sale earlier this month, excitement turned to disappointment.

Yes, there were $28 tickets for some events in the local presale, but the cheap tickets went fast.

What was left were tickets in the hundreds and thousands, with prices reaching more than $5,500, as reported by Suhauna Hussain and Thuc Nhi Nguyen of the Los Angeles Times.

“Tickets for a single seat at the opening ceremony were costing between $329 and $5,519, and the cheaper tickets were selling quickly,” Hussain and Nguyen wrote. “Some were able to buy cheap $28 tickets for desired events such as the women’s soccer semifinals, but others saw comparable prices only for preliminary events and less popular sports such as badminton and judo.”

Even worse, some hopeful ticket buyers were unable to access the site at all.

There will be more ticket drops, Olympics organizers say, and even after that, tickets will be available on resale markets for fans who want to see a specific event.

Some of those tickets, though, will likely be very expensive, especially for popular American sports like baseball, which could feature MLB players.

Furthermore, fees and charges — reportedly up to 24% — are discouraging fans.

Ticketing company executive Ahmed Nimale told the Times that the ticket prices are “opaque.”

“Is this the best experience? For fans to be priced out potentially due to higher fees?” Nimale said. “My question is, are fans really getting the best shot to get tickets in the first place? There’s a need for transparency here that’s building.”

After getting off to one of their worst starts in franchise history, the Boston Red Sox are making progress.

Despite losing Monday's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers, the Red Sox rebounded to win back-to-back games at Fenway Park and take the series, ending their first homestand of the year on a high note.

It was Boston's first series win since last September, when the Red Sox took two of three from the Detroit Tigers at Fenway in their final series of the regular season.

Boston had lost its last four series, starting with last year's AL Wild Card Series against the New York Yankees and continuing through its first three series of 2026.

Similarly, it was also the Red Sox's first time winning consecutive games since last September (excluding spring training), when they won their season finale against the Tigers and Game 1 of the Wild Card Series at Yankee Stadium.

In other words, Boston has real momentum for the first time this year, as its first two wins were both immediately followed by losing streaks.

The Red Sox will try to maintain that momentum and extend their winning streak following Thursday's off day. They kick off their six-game road trip in St. Louis on Friday behind Connelly Early, who's off to a promising start this year with a 2.89 ERA over his first two starts. He'll face former teammate Dustin May, who's struggling for the Cardinals with an 0-2 record and a 15.95 ERA.

The NFL is officially preparing for the worst as it relates to the referees in the upcoming season. As labor talks continue to seemingly go nowhere, the league announced it will begin training replacement referees for the upcoming season.

According to NFL Media's Tom Pelissero the plan and news of it all is as follows.

"The NFL informed clubs today it will begin training replacement officials next month with the goal of preparing them for team visits starting June 1 if no deal can be reached with the referees union, per a memo obtained by NFL Network. Negotiations will continue between the NFL and NFLRA later this week. The current labor deal expires May 31."

Pelissero also added that the NFL is asking teams to send in their OTA and mandatory minicamp schedules by April 22. The purpose of that early deadline is to ensure replacement referees are assigned for those team visits if a labor deal can't be reached with the NFLRA. If a labor deal cannot be reached in advance, it would mark the first time since 2012 that the league would be forced to use replacement referees.

Bhayshul Tuten had a promising, albeit unspectacular, rookie campaign. As the backup rusher to Travis Etienne, the 2025 fourth-round pick totaled 83 carries for 307 yards and 7 total touchdowns across 15 regular season games. His average yards per carry (3.7) ranked 45th among 55 qualifying running backs.

Last month, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Chris Rodriguez Jr. to help compensate for Etienne’s departure. The former may end up leading the backfield in 2026, but the distribution of snaps and touches should even out a bit, with Tuten and pass-protecting ace LeQuint Allen Jr. entering their second seasons.

Beyond an expected increase in volume, Tuten is also expected to benefit from an evolution in his usage.

“You look at what Tut’ showed in terms of getting downhill on it, inside the tackles, that really wasn’t as much on his tape in college,” head coach Liam Coen said at the team’s annual pre-draft media luncheon on Thursday. “I think we can do a better job of giving him some opportunities, a little bit more, that fit his skill set as well in college, get him going in some of those instances, as well in the pass game, in the screen game.”

Jacksonville wishes to get Tuten the ball in space more often. Even without the Coen quote, it’d be logical for the offense to give Tuten most of the perimeter looks that previously went to Etienne — especially considering Rodriguez is more of a between-the-tackles grinder. Tuten, on the other hand, is a ball of burst that would be best weaponized outside the tackles.

“I thought he did a great job [last season],” Coen added. “I know he had the one fumble against the Colts, but ball security was something we honed on a lot, we really tried to work on- that wasn’t just with him, that was with the whole group- but, okay, now, year two, let’s go be more creative. Like, ‘Hey, now you learned ball security at a premium, what we’re looking for, the standard. Now let’s go take it to the next level.’”

For what it’s worth, Coen also suggested a larger role for Allen in the passing game. “LeQuint showed so much in terms of the toughness, physicality, the care factor, third down runs that he was really good at for us. I know he had 60 catches or so in college, so that’s an area we can continue to lean into him as well.”

Here’s to hoping that Tuten will build off his strong playoff performance and take advantage of the opportunity in front of him. Based on what we’ve seen from him so far, he should at least be an exciting change of pace back. How much better than that could he be?

The Royals continued to shuffle their bullpen Thursday, adding relievers Eli Morgan and Mitch Spence from Triple-A Omaha, while sending Luinder Avila and Steven Cruz down. Avila and Cruz each pitched extensively in Wednesday’s loss to Cleveland. Morgan was up last Saturday as the 27th man for the doubleheader against Milwaukee, pitching three scoreless innings with five strikeouts.

Morgan has pitched parts of five seasons with the Guardians and Cubs before this season, posting a 4.15 ERA in 275.2 innings, mostly as a reliever. His best year came in 2024 when he posted a 1.93 ERA, although he pitched in just 32 games. He pitched in just seven games last year before he injured his elbow in April and missed the rest of the season. The Royals signed the 29-year-old as a minor league free agent this past winter.

Spence was acquired from the Athletics in a trade for minor league reliever A.J. Causey. He has pitched parts of the last two seasons with the Athletics, mostly as a starter, with a 4.77 ERA in 236 innings. Last year he made 24 relief appearances and 8 starts, with a 5.10 ERA in 84.2 innings. He gave up just one unearned run over five innings in his only start for Omaha this year.

Avila has given up 14 hits, 4 walks and six runs in six innings with the Royals. He is ranked as the #9 prospect in the farm system and the team considers him a future top-of-the-rotation starter. Cruz has given up eight runs in five innings for a 14.40 ERA, with four home runs allowed, tied for the most in the league.

The New York Jets have some work to do in the 2026 NFL Draft, and one of the biggest needs that will likely be addressed is the quarterback position.

Aaron Glenn has indicated the team will likely add a rookie. But the question now becomes when that rookie will be taken, and who will it be?

According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, the Jets are predicted to take their QB in the fourth round, with the 6-foot-5 Penn State quarterback Drew Allar being the one fans should keep a close eye on this draft season.

Jets linked to Drew Allar with likely 4th round pick

"Fill in the blank: The Jets will draft a quarterback in the __ round. Fourth," Cimini writes. "Keep an eye out for Drew Allar (Penn State), who recently held a private workout at the Jets' facility."

Cimini's commentary on the Jets' draft plans is very noteworthy for two reasons. He is mentioning the fourth round, which is the Jets' first picks after their top-four selections, as the time for New York to add a quarterback.

And with Cimini linking the Jets to Allar, the developmental quarterback out of Penn State who is 6-foot-5, 228 pounds, there is some extra intrigue into the Jets' pick in Round 4 now.

Allar wouldn't be a terrible backup option for a year or two behind Geno Smith. His arm is very strong, but he struggles with accuracy and needs a bit of work to turn into a starting-caliber quarterback in the NFL.

If Smith starts for most of the year, Allar could get a few games in by the end of the season to see how his development has come along.

He's a high-upside, low-floor quarterback prospect. But, for the Jets, he'd be the perfect dart-throw during this year's draft.

The worst-case scenario is that Allar isn't good in the NFL, but using a fourth-rounder on such a player would be a worthwhile try, especially at a position as important as QB. In the best case, he's a starter in the NFL, and they would have gotten him in the fourth round.

Jets fans should keep an eye out for any Allar to the Jets rumors, as Cimini's comments point to the Jets using a fourth-round pick to take the Penn State QB this year.

As we head into the final stretch of the season, teams are locked in on their objectives — and scheduling is starting to play a huge role.

With European fixtures, domestic cups, and the international break, preparation time varies massively heading into GW32.

For example, Manchester United last played on 21 March, while Aston Villa only play their final match on 10 April before entering GW32.

That’s a significant gap that could impact sharpness, fatigue, and rotation — even more so considering both sides are directly competing for third place with just a one-point difference.

Goalkeepers

Lammens (5.1M, Man Utd vs Leeds Utd)

One of the key areas of improvement for Manchester United this season has been the arrival of Senne Lammens. The young goalkeeper has brought much-needed stability and consistency at the back, helping to solidify their defensive performances.

Sels (4.6M, Nottingham Forest vs Aston Villa)

Both Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa have midweek European commitments heading into GW32, so fatigue is on both sides. With Villa not among the most prolific attacks, this could be a good opportunity for Matz Sels to pick up a clean sheet.

Defenders

Mukiele (4.5M, Sunderland vs Spurs)

Nordi Mukiele returns from injury and immediately comes back into the frame as a high-upside defensive pick. Strong points-per-game output and capable of delivering both clean sheets and attacking returns — a real differential if minutes are managed well.

O’Reilly (5.0M, Chelsea vs Man City)

An outstanding season from this youngster — his intelligent movement and positioning create continuous problems for opposition defences, often providing that surprise edge in attack. He also contributes well defensively, showing great teamwork and energy throughout his performances.

Diouf (4.1M, West Ham vs Wolves)

He’s hit strong form at the right time and will be key in the run-in. Despite a 12-point cushion over Wolverhampton Wanderers, their recent upturn in performances means the relegation battle isn’t completely settled yet.

Midfielders

B.Fernandes (10.3M, Man Utd vs Leeds Utd)

Despite constant rumours surrounding his future, Bruno Fernandes continues to show complete professionalism and commitment to the club, delivering top performances on the pitch — crucial for the team in this run-in. With 17 league assists already, he’ll be looking to add to that tally again this gameweek.

Anderson (5.5M, Nottingham Forest vs Aston Villa)

After a masterclass performance on international duty, Elliot Anderson has shown exactly what he’s capable of at a higher level. Back with Nottingham Forest, he remains a crucial figure as they fight to secure their place in the league next season.

Semenyo (8.2M, Chelsea vs Man City)

What a signing for City! Antoine Semenyo has been highly disciplined, motivated, and a constant attacking threat. His ability to switch between winger and striker, while supporting teammates, makes him a key asset in their forward line.

Forwards

Ekitike (9.3M, Liverpool vs Fulham)

Liverpool haven’t been at their best in the league recently, but Hugo Ekitike has remained a reliable outlet up front, consistently contributing in attack. The main concern for GW32 is rotation — with a crucial UEFA Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain either side of the gameweek, minutes could be managed. With Alexander Isak also returning from injury, there’s a real question mark over whether Ekitike starts this one.

Sesko (7.4M, Man Utd vs Leeds Utd)

Minutes risk with Benjamin Šeško, but the upside is huge. He doesn’t need 90 mins to return — one of those players who can haul even as a sub. High-risk, high-reward differential.

Gyokeres (8.8M, Arsenal vs Bournemouth)

A crucial fixture for Arsenal, with a massive clash against Manchester City coming up in GW33. A win here would be a huge confidence boost heading into that showdown. Viktor Gyökeres has rediscovered his form, scoring 6 goals in his last 8 matches, and after an impressive showing on international duty, he’ll be one to watch again this gameweek.

The Justice Department is investigating the NFL for potential anticompetitive practices, according to a government official.

The official, who was not authorized to discuss an ongoing investigation by name and spoke on condition of anonymity, said the investigation is “about affordability for consumers and creating an even playing field for providers.”

The NFL has not received a notification that the league is being investigated, according to two other people with knowledge of the situation. Those people spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak on possible legal matters.

The investigation comes amid increasing federal scrutiny on the amount of money fans are paying to watch sports on television. The Federal Communications Commission is seeking public comments on the ongoing shift of live sports from broadcast channels to streaming services.

NEW YORK (AP) — Athletics pitcher Jeffrey Springs has a no-hitter through six innings against the New York Yankees on Thursday afternoon.

Springs allowed two baserunners in the third and ended the inning by getting a called third strike on Aaron Judge with his changeup. He ended the fifth by getting José Caballero on a flyball to deep left field.

In the sixth, Springs won an ABS challenge that resulted in a called third strike to Ryan McMahon. He ended the sixth at 72 pitches after Judge softly grounded out to third.

The A’s have thrown 13 no-hitters in franchise history. The last was achieved by Mike Fiers on May 7, 2019, in Oakland against the Cincinnati Reds.

The Yankees have been no-hit eight times in team history. The last was a combined no-hitter by Houston’s Cristian Javier, Hector Neris and Ryan Pressly on June 25, 2022, at Yankee Stadium.

We’re back with the latest edition of the wild card watch – a regular The Sporting News series in which we analyze the NHL’s two wild card races. As part of this file, we’re examining teams currently in a wild card spot for the Stanley Cup playoffs in the Eastern and Western Conferences, as well as the two teams immediately below them in the standings.

We had standings changes this week, but we’re looking mainly at the same group of teams battling for playoff spots. And given most teams have four or five games remaining in the regular season, it’ll be increasingly difficult to change standings positions. 

Some teams need to run the table and hope for help in the form of regulation-time losses from teams ahead of them in the standings. Other teams will look to get to overtime and earn a valuable point. It’s all going to shake out in the next seven days, and it’ll make for compelling viewing.

With that said, let’s dig into the newest wild card watch:

Eastern Conference:

• 7th Place –Boston Bruins (96 points) 
• 8th Place –Ottawa Senators (92 points)
• 9th Place – Columbus Blue Jackets (90 points)

The Lowdown: The Senators earned six standings points in the past week by beating the Buffalo Sabres, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Carolina Hurricanes. That’s a statement stretch of great play, and Ottawa should continue their momentum swing when they take on the Florida Panthers, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, and Toronto Maple Leafs in their final four games. 

If the Sens capitalize on their relatively easy schedule, they could move into the first wild-card spot in the East. That’s because the Bruins, who looked locked into the first wild card spot not long ago, are now in the midst of a four-game losing skid. The Senators are now only four points behind Boston, and Ottawa has a game in hand on the Bruins. So there could be stunning changes between now and the end of the season.

Also, the 12th-place Washington Capitals, 11th-place Islanders, 10th-place Red Wings, and 9th-place Blue Jackets are all within three points of the Senators, so you can’t count any of them out just yet. But if the standings look the same at season’s end, it will be crushing blows for the Blue Jackets, Islanders, and Red Wings in particular. 

The Isles fired coach Patrick Roy this week and replaced him with Peter DeBoer, so missing out on the playoffs would be a terrible end to what was otherwise a season of promise on Long Island. Meanwhile, the Blue Jackets’ current streak of five seasons without playoff hockey will extend to six seasons – and there needs to be consequences for Columbus.

Finally, the Red Wings’ collapse will almost certainly cost GM Steve Yzerman his job. The Wings have gone 5-9-3 since March 2, and that’s a stunning indictment of the roster Yzerman has built. Detroit’s playoff drought will extend to 10 years, and Red Wings fans have had enough promises that haven’t been followed through on. It’s time for a change in Motown.

Western Conference:

• 7th Place – Utah Mammoth (88 points)
• 8th Place –Nashville Predators (84 points)
• 9th Place – Los Angeles Kings (83 points)
• 10th Place – San Jose Sharks (81 points) 

The Lowdown: The Mammoth and Predators retained the two West wild card spots for the third straight week, and both teams earned it with strong play. Utah went 3-0-0 in the past seven days, and they’ve won four straight games with an offensive explosion that saw them outscore their opponents 25-13. So, unless there’s a major meltdown in their final five games, the Mammoth will earn their first-ever playoff berth.

The surging Predators went 3-0-1 this week to pull within four points of Utah – and while the Mammoth have a game in hand on Nashville, there’s going to be an all-important showdown between Utah and the Predators on Thursday in Salt Lake City. If the Preds beat the Mammoth in regulation time that day, the race for seventh in the West could come down to the final games of the season for the teams.

The Kings also were strong, going 3-0-1 to stay in ninth place. But it may be too little, too late for Los Angeles. Per Tankathon, they have the easiest remaining schedule in the league, as they’ll take on the Vancouver Canucks twice, the Edmonton Oilers, the Seattle Kraken, and the Calgary Flames in their other three games. That’s a very winnable stretch for the Kings, who will have no excuses if they ultimately fail to make the playoffs.

In addition, the Sharks overtook the Winnipeg Jets for 10th place in the West, after San Jose went 3-2-0 this week. The Sharks also have a relatively easy remainder of their schedule, taking on the Anaheim Ducks and Predators, as well as the Canucks, Chicago Blackhawks, and Jets, in their final five games. 

San Jose has flirted with being in a playoff position for much of the year, and you shouldn’t bet against superstar Macklin Celebrini making an even better case to be nominated for the Hart Trophy as the league’s most valuable player by putting the team on his back and leading the Sharks to a surprise playoff berth. The Sharks may fail to earn a playoff spot, but they’re playing meaningful hockey late in the year, and that’s a step forward for this rebuilding franchise.

Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner spoke to the microphones of TNT Sport before kick-off against Fiorentina in the UEFA Conference League quarter-finals.

The Austrian coach discussed his team’s progress in training, as well as providing updates on returning stars Jean-Phillipe Mateta, Daniel Munoz and Dean Henderson.

“They trained fully, Dean was ill before the international break and JP [Mateta] and Daniel were managing their minutes. Of course they are starters but we still have to manage Mateta’s knee and so it’s good Strand Larsen comes back for the Newcastle game.

“It’s always good to have many options because as we saw at Larnaca, we needed Strand Larsen and Mateta up front to help us score goals so it’s good to have many options.

Asked about how he was feeling, and how the squad have been doing in training, Glasner said

“Yes we’re feeling refreshed. We made the best of it. Many players played for their national team and we had an in-house game so everyone can stay in rhythm with a good week in training.

“Yes I feel relaxed, the players give me a good feeling. We had a great week in training but on the other hand, we know the most important part is after the kick off, how we perform. But the preparation is very good.”

Glasner’s Crystal Palace come into the game with extra rest compared to Fiorentina, who played at the weekend. The English club have not played since before the international break, with many English clubs given an extra week of rest due to the FA Cup weekend.

The Egyptian’s departure signals the end of an era for Liverpool, and finding a replacement will be one of the club’s biggest challenges in its modern history

Salah hasn’t just been a top player, he’s been the heartbeat of Liverpool’s attack for years, delivering remarkable consistency in front of goal that has made him the stand-out player in the Premier League and the face of the Reds.

What makes him so hard to replace is his sheer output. Season after season in the Premier League, he has produced elite numbers for both goals and assists, often deciding tight games with moments of individual brilliance.

Whether cutting inside, making runs in behind, or finishing instinctively in the box, Salah is far more than a traditional winger; he’s a complete forward.

He single-handedly held down the right-wing position at Liverpool since he arrived in 2017 - for almost a decade.

Now the club have to find their next right-winger and it won't be easy.

Replacing a player like this is not going to be easy. You could argue it will be impossible.

But Liverpool don't have to replace him completely. They already have.

When it comes to sheer output, Alexander Isak will be Liverpool's answer to replacing Salah's goals. The Swede has that same hunger and appetite to score.

And he has been consistently delivering over the years in the Premier League. His season at Liverpool has been marred by injury, but Isak will be back, you can bet your house on that.

Liverpool merely need to replace Salah's absence on the right-wing, and they can do this by way of evolution.

What Liverpool will be looking to do is to bring in a young attacker with flair and one vs one ability - something Arne Slot's side lack at the moment.

So many names have been floated about, but the answer may be a player who resembles Salah according to the Egyptian's former coach.

Speaking after Juventus' victory over Genoa, Luciano Spalletti highlighted the performance of Francisco Conceição and compared him to an 'early' Salah.

"The comparison with the early Salah is appropriate. Conceição is still a young player; he has things to learn. He needs to convince himself that he can also play more centrally," Spalletti said in his press conference.

"Out wide, he becomes unmarkable because he is truly very strong.

"As a winger, he is one of the strongest I have ever seen. He has this intensity and aggressiveness in one-on-one situations that is hard to contain. Today as well, he delivered a large number of balls for the team."

Spalletti worked with Salah at AS Roma, so he's perfectly qualified to make this statement on Conceição, and it's why Liverpool should have their interest piqued.

The 23-year-old Juventus winger has been linked with Liverpool recently. Based on the comaprisons to Salah and the way Spalletti describes him as a one vs one specialist, Conceição feels like the perfect profile for what Liverpool now need in the post Salah-era.

So, it feels quite natural that he will be the one to replace Salah at Anfield.

At this stage of proceedings, it would be a major surprise if James Trafford remained at Manchester City after this summer’s transfer window. Simon Bajkowski has reported for the Manchester Evening News that it is highly likely that Trafford will leave City to find a club where he can be the number-one goalkeeper. If that likely scenario comes to fruition, Manchester City will be in the market for a backup keeper. There are two paths for City to take to find a backup for Gianluigi Donnarumma. They could sign an experienced goalkeeper in a similar mold to Stefan Ortega. Alternatively, City could look to sign a young goalkeeper who can be Manchester City’s cup goalkeeper, learning and developing their craft as Gianluigi Donnarumma’s understudy.

City have now been linked with Sheffield Wednesday’s impressive 20-year-old goalkeeper, Pierce Charles. Charles ticks the box as a young goalkeeper who could play a role as Gianluigi Donnarumma’s backup. Also, Charles has previously been involved in the City setup as he was briefly in Manchester City’s academy system before moving to Sheffield Wednesday.

Manchester City have reportedly joined the race to sign Pierce Charles from Sheffield Wednesday.

Graeme Bailey has reported for TeamTalk that Manchester City are exploring a move to sign young goalkeeper Pierce Charles from Sheffield Wednesday this summer. Bailey also reports that a host of clubs are also interested in signing Pierce Charles this summer. Newcastle United, Tottenham, Leeds, Coventry City and Chelsea are named as potential competition for City if they pursue a move for the Northern Ireland international.

Graeme Bailey also reports that City have conducted background checks on Pierce Charles. Manchester City are believed to be impressed by Charles’ rapid development at Sheffield Wednesday.

James is 41 and very close to the end of his career, while LA has made a big pivot to Luka Doncic being the face of their franchise and building around the young star.

A case can be made to bring James back on a competitive and financial level. He is still playing at a high level, and a retirement tour would be big bucks for the organization. However, he will likely demand good money in his next contract, and many wonder if he is a poor fit for what the team wants to build. Either way, the front office must prepare for life after LeBron James, whether it comes this year or in the summer of 2027.

The team has been linked to a potential Giannis Antetokounmpo trade this summer. However, they must factor in an eventual extension for young star Austin Reaves. Having three huge contracts is not in the team’s best interest, so they must look into different ways to smartly use their money to build the perfect team around Doncic.

Zaccharie Risacher could be on the trade block this summer

Well, an interesting potential trade target that could replace James in the long term will likely be available very soon. This week, The Athletic’s John Hollinger pointed out the diminished role of Atlanta Hawks prospect Zaccharie Risacher.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft was a starter for much of the season. However, over the last third of it, he was moved to a bench role. Now, over the last couple of weeks, he has completely fallen out of Atlanta’s rotation as they surge into the NBA Playoffs on a hot streak. Assuming the Hawks pick up their club option on Jonathan Kuminga, Risacher has no role on the team despite his potential.

The Frenchman is a talented spot-up shooter with a strong basketball IQ. At 6-foot-9 and with his good athleticism, he is a valuable defender who can guard multiple positions. But the big knocks on his game is he still needs to get stronger — which hurts his rebounding — and he still has a lot of work to do on his playmaking skills.

However, he just turned 21 and has only played two seasons in the league. He is far from a finished product, and with his value at a new low, the Lakers could land him in a trade without giving up major assets. If JJ Redick and the Lakers are looking for a moldable piece of clay with huge upside, Risacher should be a summer target to potentially replace James.

Aprilia’s Rivola backs Bagnaia ahead of expected 2027 move from Ducati

Massimo Rivola has suggested that a change could work in Francesco Bagnaia’s favour as he gets ready to leave Ducati for Aprilia in 2027.

Bagnaia, who won back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023 and came close to a third the following year, found himself out of the picture after Marc Marquez arrived at Ducati. The team have since decided to move on, bringing in Pedro Acosta.

There was talk about whether Aprilia made the right call, given Bagnaia was coming off a run of poor form. However, Rivola is confident about what the Italian can bring to his new team.

Massimo Rivola backs Francesco Bagnaia before move to Aprilia

Rivola didn’t reference Bagnaia directly in his interview with Sky Italia, but he did say Aprilia are more than capable of getting the best out of riders, according to quotes relayed by Gazzetta dello Sport.

Bezzecchi was coming off a disappointing campaign with VR46, where he finished 12th overall. But since joining Aprilia, he’s become a title contender and recently put together five straight wins, a run that only Marquez and Rossi have matched in recent times.

Ducati wouldn’t have even considered moving on from Bagnaia just a year ago, when he was still their most decorated rider. However, his dip in form on the GP25 carried into this season and led them to believe Acosta was the right call.

“Changes can be beneficial,” said Rivola. “After all, we’re happy to take on riders from other manufacturers and revitalise them.”

While he didn’t mention Bagnaia by name, Rivola told Sky Italia, via Gazzetta dello Sport, that Aprilia have a track record of getting the best out of riders who need a change in scenery.

Marco Bezzecchi, who struggled in his final season at VR46 and finished 12th in the standings, has developed into a championship threat since moving to Aprilia. He’s now won five consecutive races—a feat matched only by Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi in recent times.

As recently as 2024, the idea of Ducati letting their only multiple world champion go seemed unthinkable. But Bagnaia’s decline on the GP25, which has continued into this season, led them to believe Acosta was the better option.

“Changes can be beneficial,” said Rivola. “After all, we’re happy to take on riders from other manufacturers and revitalise them.”

“For us, Jorge represents a sort of successful gamble: despite all the problems, we’ve always believed in him,” Rivola said of his rider, who missed most of the 2025 season through injury.

“Martin’s carefree attitude is the product of Aprilia’s attitude, which didn’t abandon him in his time of suffering. Indeed, it supported him during his crisis, saving him from rash decisions.”

College basketball fans are well aware of the transfer portal craze taking place this spring. Despite his brand name and potential to command NIL dollars on another campus, Syracuse Orange guard Kiyan Anthony will be returning to the program for his sophomore season.

Anthony's choice was perhaps influenced by Syracuse's decision to hire his father's former teammate at head coach. The Orange hired Gerry McNamara this spring after parting ways with Adrian Autry, who lasted three seasons with the program.

McNamara and Carmelo Anthony played at Syracuse during their memorable 2002-03 campaign, when the two freshmen went on a run that secured the national championship for the Orange.

Indiana men’s basketball is going to need plenty of additions through the transfer portal this offseason as head coach Darian DeVries launches his second roster reload in as many seasons in Bloomington.

We’ll be looking to get ahead of some targets here with brief profiles if there’s an established connection to Indiana, DeVries or his staff. Only players who’ve either stated their intentions to enter the portal or are already in will be covered, we’re not gonna overstep there.

F J.P. Estrella – 6’11”, 240 lbs

• Previous school: Tennessee
• Statline: 10 PTS, 5.4 REB, 0.8 AST

Estrella has a prior connection to Indiana in that he spent time being coached by Rod Clark when the two were at Tennessee. Now he’s in the portal and would fill a massive need for the Hoosiers in the frontcourt should both sides have interest in a pairing.

He’s entering his fourth season of college basketball after redshirting in 2024-25 due to a season-ending foot injury. He was a key contributor in Tennnessee’s run to the Elite Eight this past season, playing 40.5% of the Volunteers’ available minutes, rotating at center with Felix Okpara.

He boasts the rebounding prowess the Hoosiers lacked this past season, with an offensive rebounding percentage of 17.3%, which would’ve ranked first on Indiana’s roster this past season by over five percentage points. He’s efficient with the ball as well, with an eFG percentage of 60.4%.

There’s defensive limitations to consider with Estrella, namely a pedestrian block percentage, but he’d fill a massive void in the Hoosiers’ frontcourt next season.

Scottie Scheffler opened up about not letting his golf career "define" who he is as a person.

As the Masters kicks off in Augusta, Georgia, the 29-year-old golfer said on Wednesday, April 8 that he's been in a "battle" to find balance with the sport.

"I feel like, growing up, I think it's always a struggle. I think that's still a struggle to this day," he told reporters, according to CBS Sports.

"When you finish a round of golf, you post a score up there. I think you put so much time and effort into the game that you expect a lot out of it," Scheffler continued. "Sometimes you do get some things out of it. Most of the time in golf, you're probably going to be a little bit disappointed at the end of the week just because there's only one winner and there's a lot more losers than that."

Scheffler, whose wife Meredith is supporting him at the Masters just 12 days after welcoming their second child, told CBS, "I would say it's always been a battle for me trying to strike a balance between continuing to work hard, staying competitive and also not having...my good golf or my bad golf define me because that could go one of two ways."

He said if he were to let his "bad golf" define him, "I'd be a pretty miserable person," and if he let his "good golf" define him, "whether or not it's a green jacket or an Open Championship, then I'd walk around pretty arrogant all the time," per the outlet.

"And I wouldn't be very nice to people because I think I'm hot stuff because I won a few golf tournaments," Scheffler added.

The Scheffler crew was a party-of-four at the Masters on Wednesday as the golfer and his wife brought along their two sons, Bennett, 23 months, and Remy, 12 days old, for the annual Par 3 Contest, typically a family day at August National.

"This is what it’s all about! Remy made his big debut and we are officially a family of four," Scheffler posted on Instagram, along with photos of his growing family on the green.

Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde will make up Real Madrid‘s midfield. Their main job would be to dictate the tempo of the game at the centre of the park and engineer some inviting chances in the final third.

Thiago Pitarch Pinar and Jude Bellingham will have to be content with a place on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second 45 minutes if needed.

Attack

Vinicius Junior will try to put his pace to good use on the left flank, while Arda Guler looks to prove his worth on the other side as the right-sided wide player.

Kylian Mbappe will lead the charge for the Madrid giants up top. He has to find a way to be a constant menace in the final third.

While there are still internal discussions at the club about whether to push for Neymar, they hieararchy are said to be 'gauging Neymar's interest' in the move. 

Barcelona are entering a crucial stage of the season with their midfield stretched to the limit, to the point that it is causing concern for manager Hansi Flick, reports Mundo Deportivo.

It has reached a point where the composition of the team for the La Liga derby against RCD Espanyol and the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Atletico Madrid is heavily conditioned by the situation in the centre of the park.

Injuries, fitness concerns in midfield

Flick does not have a full-strength squad going into the decisive stretch of the season, and the midfield department appears to be the most affected.

The incubator grew out of a conviction that some of the most compelling stories in the world are coming from regions that have historically lacked the infrastructure to develop them at the rigor the global market demands.

“The most seasoned screenwriters still fight writer’s block at 3 a.m. It is not a process that necessarily gets easier, but one that can remain exceptionally hard if you have never had attention. Sustained, serious, skilled attention. We built palmtrees to provide it. There are extraordinary writers in these regions. What they lack is not talent,” said Maduka.

Carnival Pride returned to Baltimore on April 9 after a 22-day dry dock in Freeport, Grand Bahama, resuming the year-round service Baltimore cruisers have loved for nearly 16 years.

The ship first arrived in the city in April 2009 as Baltimore’s first year-round cruise ship, briefly relocated to Tampa in late 2014, and has called Baltimore home again since March 2015.

How the ship has changed over the years

The largest transformation came in 2015, when Carnival Pride received the Fun Ship 2.0 upgrade. That overhaul added Guy’s Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, WaterWorks, RedFrog Pub, and several other venues that are now staples across the Carnival fleet.

In 2019, the ship returned to the Grand Bahama shipyard for a refresh that brought new carpeting and tiling throughout public areas, a renovated and relocated arcade, and the addition of The Cove, a dedicated lounge space for teens.

The most recent major overhaul came in 2023, when the Pride spent nearly a month at the Navantia Shipyard in Cadiz, Spain.

That dry dock brought the most visible changes yet, including new livery, the Heroes Tribute Bar and Lounge, a venue honoring U.S. military service members that had already appeared on several other ships in the fleet.

David’s Steakhouse was rebranded as Fahrenheit 555, and in the process, the ship said goodbye to its longtime replica of Michelangelo’s statue of David, which had occupied the space since the ship’s debut in 2002.

The 2023 dry dock also added the Carnival Adventures shop, Dreams Photo Studio, an upgraded Cloud 9 Spa, Starlink internet, and a full repaint in Carnival’s red, white, and blue hull livery.

What’s new from the 2026 dry dock

The latest shipyard visit was more modest by comparison. The casino underwent a full refurbishment, with updated décor throughout the gaming floor, and the Effy Jewelry boutique in the retail area was refreshed.

Routine maintenance and technical work were also completed during the 22-day stay.

Where Carnival Pride goes from here

With dry dock complete, Carnival Pride resumes its year-round Baltimore schedule, offering seven-day cruises to The Bahamas and Bermuda, along with select Carnival Journeys sailings to more far-flung destinations.

Itineraries also include stops at Celebration Key, Carnival’s newest private destination on Grand Bahama, which opened in July 2025.

Baltimore cruisers have more to look forward to beyond the Pride’s return. Starting in November 2027, Carnival Miracle will join Pride in Baltimore, marking the first time two Carnival ships will homeport simultaneously in the city.

The cruise ship of the future might sound more like a library than an engine room.

No rumble underfoot. No funnel overhead. No exhaust cutting across the view from your deck chair. German shipbuilder Meyer Werft unveiled a concept this week for a cruise ship that runs entirely on batteries and says it could carry nearly 2,000 passengers by 2031.

Called Project Vision, the concept was announced at Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami. The ship would measure 275 meters (about 900 feet) long, carry 1,856 passengers, and weigh in at around 82,000 gross tons, comparable in size to ships sailed by Norwegian Cruise Line and Holland America today.

What would be different onboard

Because the ship runs entirely on batteries, there are no main engines and no exhaust to manage. That eliminates the funnel that typically dominates a ship’s upper deck and the internal exhaust shaft that cuts through the interior.

Meyer Werft says that frees up prime sun deck real estate for unobstructed views that passengers rarely get on modern-day cruise ships.

The aqua park, rather than sitting exposed on an upper deck, would be fully enclosed at the stern and usable year-round regardless of weather.

And with no combustion engines running beneath your feet, passengers would experience significantly less noise and vibration throughout the ship.

Can it actually work?

The battery system would be supplied by Corvus Energy, a Norwegian company that has already equipped more than half of the world’s hybrid and fully electric seagoing vessels. Meyer Werft says the technology exists today, not in some distant future.

A fully charged ship could cover popular European itineraries such as Barcelona to Civitavecchia, the port for Rome. For longer crossings, including transatlantic voyages, the design can be built as a hybrid with small backup generators.

By 2030, roughly 100 European ports are expected to have the shoreside charging infrastructure needed to support electric cruise ships.

Meyer Werft isn’t the only one working on this

Norwegian coastal line Hurtigruten has its own zero-emission ship project, called Sea Zero, targeting a 2030 launch.

That vessel would cut energy consumption by 40 to 50% compared to today’s ships, running primarily on a 60 megawatt-hour battery system Electrive charged at ports along the Norwegian coast.

The design also incorporates three retractable, autonomous wing rigs that combine solar panels and wind sails, with Hurtigruten reaching 164 feet tall when fully extended.

The key difference is scale. The Hurtigruten concept is built for 500 passengers along a fixed coastal route, Robb Report not open-ocean cruising. Meyer Werft’s Vision targets the mainstream cruise market at more than four times that passenger capacity.

Still a concept

No cruise line has placed an order. Meyer Werft presents a new concept at Seatrade each year, and Project Vision joins a growing list of industry proposals for cleaner ships.

If a cruise line signs on this year, Meyer Werft says the first ship could be delivered in 2031.

Whether that happens remains to be seen, but the shipyard is making the case that the technology to build it already exists.

Samsung today expanded One UI 8.5 Beta to several devices, and the company also announced April Wave 2 expansion. This time, we know which devices are getting the Beta Program invite, and it’s scheduled for later this month.

One UI 8.5 Beta Wave 2 will happen in April 2026. Samsung confirmed the next set of devices, which are the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy S23 FE.

It’s worth noting that the One UI 8.5 Beta for the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 will only be available in South Korea and the US. The Galaxy S23 FE may get the update in India, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Devices that received the One UI 8.5 Beta today are the Galaxy S23 series and the Galaxy A36. Besides, we’ve reported new Beta update rollouts for phones that were already running One UI 8.5 Beta firmware.

The story may not just stay limited to what Samsung disclosed. Various Galaxy devices are internally testing One UI 8.5 Beta builds. The company may end up opening early access to devices as much as possible.

The bad news

Galaxy S21 FE is the only model from 2021 that received Android 16-based One UI 8.0 update. It was widely anticipated to receive the One UI 8.5 update as well.

Meanwhile, Samsung has no plans to provide the mid-cycle update to the 2nd-gen Fan Edition phone. There’s no internal Alpha/Beta firmware under development, indicating that the device will spend its remaining life on One UI 8.

There’s no denying the wonder from Samsung. We did see it happening with the Galaxy Watch 4, and providing One UI 8.5 update to the Galaxy S21 FE isn’t impossible either.

This means millions of users can now try new One UI 8.5 features early, enjoy smoother performance, and get the latest April 2026 security patch at the same time. It doesn’t matter if you have an expensive flagship or a cheaper Galaxy phone, there’s good news waiting in your software update section.

If you are using the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung brings the One UI 8.5 Beta 9 build for the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. Moving to the S24 series, Samsung added bS24, S24+, and S24 Ultra.

Both beta updates bring the same improvements: easy file sharing with Apple devices (like AirDrop), three new camera filters (Classic Film, Pop Film, and Blanc), plus fixes for Bluetooth, notifications, gallery, always-on display, and lock screen problems. These betas started rolling out in India first and are quickly expanding to other countries like Germany, Poland, South Korea, the UK, and the US.

The Galaxy S25 FE also received its One UI 8.5 Beta 2 today. It comes with many of the same bug fixes and improvements, though the AirDrop feature is not included yet for this model.

The good news doesn’t end there. Samsung also started a brand new One UI 8.5 beta program for older flagship phones and even some mid-range models.

Samsung started the One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy S23 series (S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, and S23 FE). It is available in phases, starting in India, South Korea, UK, and US. It also includes the April 2026 security patch.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

The Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 Beta registration is now live in South Korea and the US. While the Galaxy A36 5G users living in India have already received the first One UI 8.5 Beta update.

Along with these betas, the April 2026 security patch is spreading wider today. The latest patch fixes 47 vulnerabilities, 33 from Google’s Android Security Bulletin, 10 from Samsung Mobile, and 4 from Samsung Semiconductor.

The April 2026 patch is also rolling out separately to more (non-beta) Galaxy S25, S24, and S23 models in different regions. These updates are rolling out in phases, so not everyone will see them at the same time. The best way to check is to go to Settings > Software update on your phone or open the Samsung Members app and look for the beta banner for registration.

“Bayern”in qapıçısı Manuel Noyer azarkeşlərin səsverməsinə əsasən UEFA Çempionlar Liqasında həftənin ən yaxşı oyunçusu seçilib.

Almaniyalı qolkiper ÇL-in 1/4 final mərhələsi çərçivəsində Madrid “Real”ına (İspaniya) qarşı keçirdikləri ilk görüşdə (2:1) özünü yaxşı tərəfdən göstərib. Noyer səsvermədə David Raya (“Arsenal”), Xviça Kvaratsxeliya (PSJ) və Xulian Alvaresi (“Atletiko”) qabaqlayıb.

Xatırladaq ki, Manuel Noyer “Şalke”nin yetirməsidir. Alman qapıçı 2011-ci ilin iyulundan “Bayern”də çıxış edir. Noyer Münhen klubuna 30 milyon avro məbləğ müqabilində elə, “Şalke”dən transfer edilib.

Qapıçının Münhen klubu ilə cari müqaviləsi 2026-cı ilin iyun ayının sonuna qədər qüvvədədir.

Noyer cari mövsümdə “Bayern”in heyətində 31 oyuna çıxıb, 30 qol buraxıb, 10 oyunda qapısının toxunulmazlığını təmin edib.

Təcrübəli qapıçının “Bayern” karyerası ümumilikdə 592 oyun, 489 buraxılmış qol və 275 “quru” oyundan ibarətdir. Noyer bu komanda ilə birlikdə 12 dəfə Almaniya çempionu, 5 dəfə Almaniya kubokunun və 2 dəfə UEFA Çempionlar Liqasının qalibi olub.

Noyer 2009-cu ilin iyununda debüt etdiyi və 2024-cü ildə iştirakına xitam verdiyi Almaniya yığmasının heyətində ümumilikdə 124 oyun keçirib, 118 qol buraxıb, 51 oyunda qapısını toxunulmaz saxlayıb.

Alman qapıçı “bundestim”lə DÇ-2014-ün qalibi olub. Noyer həmçinin Almaniyanın U-21 yığması ilə Avropa çempionatını (2009) qazanıb.

“Transfermarkt” internet-portalı 40 yaşlı alman qapıçının transfer dəyərini 4 milyon avro məbləğində qiymətləndirir.

Gürcüstanın paytaxtı Tiflisdə təlim-məşq toplanışında olan futzal üzrə Azərbaycan millisi bu gün yoxlama oyunu keçirib.

Arena.az xəbər verir ki, Yevgeni Kukseviçin baş məşqçisi olduğu komanda yerli Gürcüstan yığması ilə üz-üzə gəlib.

“Tiflis Arena”da baş tutmuş matç meydan sahibi komandanın qələbəsi ilə başa çatıb. Fasiləyə qədər imkanlardan istifadə edə bilməyən millimiz qapısında 2 qol görüb. İkinci hissəyə isə əskinə, komandamız qolla başlayıb. Cərimə zərbəsindən ötürməni Nihad İsmayılov qapıdan keçirib və fərqi azaldıb. Ancaq 31-ci dəqiqədə rəqib daha bir qol vurub. Sona 2 dəqiqə qalmış qapıçını meydan oyunçusu ilə əvəzləyən komandamız Manafoun timsalında fərqi yenidən minimuma endirib. Ancaq meydan sahibləri yenidən qol vurublar.

Futzal millimiz bu rəqiblə aprelin 11-də daha bir oyun keçirəcək. Eyni məkanda baş tutacaq görüşə saat 14:00-da start veriləcək.
